This is a review for parents with kids. I am talking about West Valley Dance Academy. I've taken my now close to 4 year old to this studio for the past 6 months, and every day has been great! The school is owned and operated by Lisa Tran. Lisa is a mother and former dancer herself, so she understands both. Lisa teaches many classes herself, and from what I've witnessed, all the kids learn + have a lot of fun. My daughter's main teacher is Kate Newham -- and my daughter loves her! She actually asks before we go if we'll be seeing Miss Kate. Miss Kate is so kind and understanding of all the little kids needs. Many of them, as we all know, just say what's on their mind at any time. Kate always listens, but directs the kiddies back to dance. Also. At no time do the kids just run around and do what they want. Miss Kate has the innate ability to reach them, and keep them dancing. It is a wonderful sight to see, One of the other hi-lights of the school is the ability to watch your children dance, even if you are at home. Lisa sends out a link allowing one to watch their kids progress in the world of dance. Many times, I am watching my daughter from the waiting room, while my wife is viewing from work. Oh yeah, parents aren't allowed in the actual dance studio. You just wait in the comfortable lobby, and watch from there. I should also mention, if one day your little one has to miss a class, they can easily make it up another day They also sell dance shoes, and clothes, in case your tiny dancer needs it. Everything one might need is right there at the studio. I know this school takes older kids too. So don't worry about that. They also put on recitals throughout the year for the bigger kids. Can't wait for my Callie to be in one herself. I usually try to put price of classes, but since my daughter is still in the toddler stage, I can tell you that it is more than reasonable. During the pandemic, masks were required for every person who was in the building. As of right now, masks are optional. I can guarantee, if things change, Lisa will be at the forefront, and mask wearing will be mandatory once again. What I tell people looking for a dance class, is to call West Valley Dance Academy, and request an intro class, so you can see if it works for you and your family. We love this dance studio! Our daughter started in the preschool 1 class in January 2020. Post covid, they did a great job in keeping the kids engaged via virtual class. Her teacher (and the studio owner), Miss Lisa, has a great balance of discipline and letting the kids have fun. She has kept the studio a safe environment this past year and a half, and we are so grateful. I even laced up my tap shoes and joined the adult class and have been having so much fun dancing again. Came on their grand opening with my best friend to check out the offerings for her little girl (got 10% off for early bird registration WEEE!). It was such a cute studio and we both loved the idea of supporting local businesses. It seems this studio is owned and operated by Lisa herself which makes for the personalized experience we were looking for. My friend enrolled her girl into their ballet and jazz classes and she adores "Miss Lisa". When you watch her interactions with the little ones, it's really obvious she has a sincere love for children, and most importantly...PATIENCE! It's not all fun and games though because we also witnessed her actively training the kids to improve their technique and focus. But what was in it for me? Was I merely just a spectator? NO! Adult dance classes were available I am happy to report. I have tried their Monday night HipHop with "Roni" (sp?) and it was awesome. Being a newer studio, you get a lot more personal attention. Yeah, that 2-count back step I kept messing up? He helped me though it LOL. ALL levels welcome but beginners will especially find comfort here. I'm not exactly a beginner but it's been long enough that I'm insecure and want a friendly attentive place :) I'd like to try adult jazz next (Tuesday nights) taught by Lisa herself. read more

Wonderful and nurturing place for our 5 yo daughter. Ms. Maya, Ms. Kate, Ms. Lisa, and Mr Rony have taught her and she loves them and always looks forward to class. I usually never write reviews but I had to make an exception . If your looking for a studio that makes you feel like family this is it !! My child when she started dance lessons last September was shy and had no confidence in her self , she will constantly cry and the teachers are amazing Ms Lisa , Ms Maya , Ms Kate and Mr Ronnie were and continuing being so calm and gentle with her . Present day now dance days are her absolute favorite days off the week . It's a small studio in shopping center so parking is not a problem , the studio is clean at all times . They have a wonder class schedule with classes All week long with great pricing . You will not be disappointed if you bring your child !! read more

This is my daughter's 3rd season here and she loves it, the dancing, the teachers(Ms Lisa, Ms Lauren), the holiday shows the big dance recitals the mini dance camps, bring a friend, halloween dress up class and don't forget all the coloring pages Ms Heidi passes out. I love too that we can purchase dance shoes, tights, leotards and skirts all at the studio, there is even a section of gentle used shoes! This is a great dance studio!! read more

Lisa is very professional and she is knowledgeable in what she is doing. She is a sweet person overall. My 7-yo son has been going to Lisa's hip-hop classes for 7 mo or so, and I see that he can move; and he is not shy when dancing in public at functions, etc. I have been taking adult hip-hop classes there with Rony for 7 months or so, he taught me from scratch. I feel more and more comfortable doing typical moves of hip-hop; overall it feels like I am getting the hang of it. I and my son will definitely be coming back; hopefully Rony and Lisa will be teaching there forever;)!!! read more

Our daughter has been attending here since she was 2 and now she is 5 and still loves it. The school has two recitals during the season; winter and end of year. Its a non-competition school which I love because it creates a more relaxed atmospheres where the kids can focus on improvement for themselves and not on competing against their classmates for a spot on a particular team. They offer a nice selection of class times and the owner (teacher Lisa) and her other instructors are great. They're also very flexible with allowing students to make up classes they miss during other hours of the week. read more

West Valley Dance Academy is a great location for beginners and advanced dancers. Lisa is a very talented dancer and has so much passion for her career! She genuinely is interested in her students success as dancers. I have been a part of the Adult tap class for a few months and have recently joined in on the adult jazz classes. I have very little dance background, but Lisa makes the class easy to follow and has A LOT of patience for those who do not catch on as quickly (me). I have caught the end of a few classes with her younger dancers and they always have smiles on their faces and are having a great time! I would highly recommend West Valley Dance Academy! What an awesome dance studio!! Great teachers, front desk staff, facility, and website! Nice setup so parents can watch the whole class comfortably. This review is for Lisa's adult ballet classes: she is an amazing, compassionate instructor whose adult classes are well-paced and beginner-friendly. I dropped in for my first adult ballet class at West Valley Dance and found it to be such a treat. Lisa's queuing is so clear and helpful and easy to understand, and she is great at reading the level of her students and teaching to the class. I've been intimidated about joining open level adult ballet classes for fear of finding myself in a sea of off-duty pros who want to touch up their technique - but the studio and Lisa are so welcoming and supportive I should have come months ago. I will be going weekly and feel so lucky to have found Lisa and her wonderful studio. read more

Miss Lisa is the so great with my 5 year old. She is patient, caring, and at the same time, she motivates the kids to do the moves with proper technique. Ms. Lisa is amazing with her students. She's patient, caring and does a great job managing a group of students (it's not easy teaching 4-5 year olds ballet). Ms. Lisa teaches dance in a fun and interactive way. My daughter has been coming here for a year. We tried another studio prior to coming here and my daughter wouldn't go in. However, from the moment we walked into West Valley Dance Academy, she immediately warmed up to Ms. Lisa and went right in to class. She loves dance class and gets excited when it's time to go! Went for a trial class, hip hop minis ages 4-6. Instructor Mr. Rony, you can look him up on their website should not be in the business of working with small children. He did not introduce himself to the new children or ask the children their names. He simply barked an order to sit down and when my child, feeling uncomfortable froze and refused to sit he was literally thrown out of the room with the door slammed in his face--I am not exaggerating! I was horrified and ca nod believe this was my child's first experience with dance class. The owner Lisa seemed very nice via email but when bringing up my concern her tone quickly changed as her and Rony are old college buddies. So nothing will be done to remedy the situation and this awful person will continue to have contempt for children while leading child dance classes. Many other places out there which actually are better priced so it's a win win for me that I will not be attending here. Beware of rude Rony and his lack of kindness and patience towards children. read more

I've wanted to tap dance since I was a kid...and took maybe 10 lessons when I was a teen. Now, at 58, I am thoroughly enjoying rediscovering tap with Lisa on Wednesday nights. She is patient, positive, professional and very talented. The facility is terrific with a good sized free parking lot and Starbuck's on the corner. Even if you've never tapped before or haven't put your shoes on for a few years, I highly recommend coming to this terrific, drop-in class and getting in touch with your inner Shirley Temple or Ginger Rogers. Love, love, love this place! My 7-year old who is not the most graceful girl in the world had her first dance recital this weekend at CSUN and it was AMAZING!!!! All of Miss Lisa's patience and hard work paid off. I highly recommend this dance studio. Miss Lisa is wonderful with her students; no-nonsense and yet, very kind and patient.
