The people here are the real deal, good people…read more My son is a ballet dancer. We lived in Simi Valley for many years and my son danced with a studio that was a competition studio. They have all genres of dance, but it always felt they prioritized the competition dance team, which isn't our thing. As a result, when we moved to the San Fernando Valley, we decided to stick with a more traditional Ballet school academy environment. No competition team type places. We ended up in downtown LA. But during covid, we really had some challenges and my son wasn't able to get back in a studio for many many months. I found California Dance Academy on social media and saw that they were doing Nutcracker outside. I emailed them and ask if my son could take class with them for a while until our school opens again. They were dancing outside and following all covid precautions until case numbers came down and county restrictions allowed indoor classes again. They followed everything to a T and kept dancers safe. No cases were spread within the studio. Everyone we met here was fantastic. No drama. And truly solid classical ballet instruction. I'd have previously written this place off because we were looking to get away from competition environment, but California Dance Academy treats both classical ballet and competition as equally valuable. They develop strong dancers and train kids up in the area the kid wants to go. Their focus is art and solid instruction. My son's school downtown reopened and he was genuinely sad to leave California Dance Academy. But I have to write this review and just say that whether it is classic ballet or more commercial style dance you are looking for, this is a great school with great people. They are helpful, transparent, kind, and honest people.

My current review is a reiteration of the high quality dance training provided by Miss Malorie and her staff, and the encouragement and development of each child who goes to the studio to find his/her inner dancer, whether that dancer takes a couple of classes a week for exercise and personal development, or goes on to train and compete on the competition team. Dancers compete in competitions, attend dance conventions, and have opportunities to perform at various venues. Both of my girls have learned and grown so much over the past few years at CCPA. My older one dances successfully both on her high school dance team and on the CCPA team; the younger one is establishing her skills and self-confidence as she heads toward middle school in her final year in elementary school. This is an excellent dance studio with a high return in value. We have been with CCPA for 7 years and I can't recommend it enough!

We had no choice but to drop our son off at his grandparents daily where he was not focusing or learning at all. We were left in a bind and then received a recommendation by a friend to join Kids Club with Miss Jodi. After my initial conversation with Jodi and visiting the studio we immediately fell in love. She worked with us on putting together an affordable weekly package for my Son to attend full time. The studio is extremely clean and the desks are evenly divided for social distancing. Each child has their own designated table where they can keep their school items on their desks. There are several employees walking around assisting each child. My Son has come such a long way by being with Releve! Jodi really takes her time to help him learn and understand his school work. The other teachers are also amazing with helping him complete his school work and homework daily. He loves all his friends at Releve and they are able to play together in a very safe way. I really don't know what I would do without Jodi and the other amazing ladies (and gents) here. My daughter will soon be starting dance classes here as well. Thank you guys so much for helping my son during this crazy time! If you need a place to help your child learn during distance learning, this is the place! For my daughter, we were concerned initially that due to her age but inexperience, she would have to learn with kids who were much younger than her (like three years younger than her or even more)... after her hip-hop trial, she was discouraged because she was a lot older than the other kids and yet much more inexperienced. But we expressed that to the studio and they responded so gracefully and found the perfect class for her where there are kids her age, but they are also new-ER to dance as well and my daughter is totally happy and we are loving the classes and teachers thus far. The studio has been so accommodating and very communicative and helpful! The teachers are awesome too, and you can feel the spirit of dance and creativity there. I'm hopeful about our journey there and my daughter's own journey with dance. I think if there's any place that could get her hooked to dance, it's this place.

Two months into their program--after a cast list had already been posted--they attempted to collect additional payments from already-enrolled families, despite there being no prior contract or communication outlining these supposed fees. They also demanded that students come up with their own costumes, and even threatened to pull kids from the production if payments weren't made. Anyone with even basic theater experience knows that threatening to remove children from a show two months into rehearsals is outrageous and unacceptable. Everything--fees, responsibilities, schedules--should be communicated clearly in writing upfront, not sprung on families halfway through. They added extra rehearsals last minute and tried to charge for those too. After enough parents complained, they finally took over the costume responsibilities. But again, none of these requirements were mentioned at sign-up. While we're incredibly grateful for the teacher (who was absolutely wonderful), the owner and office staff were completely disorganized, unprofessional, and frankly, rude.Mothers were berated for wanting to sit in on their young children (ages 6+ and up), being mic'd under their clothing and were screamed at for wanting to monitor that because it was "closed rehearsals" It gets worse. After deciding we'd never return due to the awful experience, we noticed a charge for another session we never signed up for. When we kindly reached out to have it removed, we were told that "Musical Theater" was now considered a year-round commitment, even though: * That was never communicated. * Our child hadn't attended in months. Did they call to check on our child's absence? Nope.They just charged us. In this economy. Don't be fooled by their polished social media. Behind the scenes, it's just smoke and mirrors. On one performance day, they called the cast for a 3:30 arrival time--and no adult staff showed up until 5:15.Fourteen children were left under the supervision of just two volunteer moms, and the office admitted they "forgot to call" the rest of us to let us know that no one would be in attendance, nor that they needed help. Just kids expected to be left alone. Left to run their own warmups and choreography. So not only are they charging families absurd fees without consent, but they are also putting children's safety at risk while being paid to not even show up. It reeks of: "I want to run a children's theater company but have zero idea how one is supposed to be run--and I'm counting on you not knowing either." Spoiler alert: I was raised in one of the top youth theaters in the country. This ain't it. Just chaos.Chaos, dishonesty, and a complete disregard for families. PATRONS BEWARE.

Elite is an excellent dance studio, from day one through their very polished recitals. It's important to note that this is not a cutesy/playtime type of studio. Dance is a discipline, and so dress code and presentation are taken seriously. For first-timers, that might feel a little intimidating, but there's a reason behind it. Hair and makeup need to be spot-on for recitals, because there's always a chance your cute 3 or 4-year-old might get on stage and just stand there! But guess what? They'll look fantastic doing it. And then, year after year, you'll see their confidence and ability grow. As a parent, you will need to stay on top of recital packets to know who/what/where/when, and I find Elite to be very thorough in the material they send out, or if you simply call them ahead of time. Another perk.. they have a professional photographer who takes photos on stage and backstage at shows/recitals for FREE. As well as a videographer, which is very much appreciated. The owner, Toni, taught my oldest years ago and is fantastic, both as a teacher and as a business owner. Neither of my girls have ever been on team, but both have always enjoyed their classes. The teachers are wonderful with age-appropriate instruction (shout out to Miss Princess with the littles) and technique. My 7-year-old only takes one ballet class currently, yet she could not be more excited to be performing in The Nutcracker for her second year in a row. Needless to say, we love Elite!

I definitely took a journey for a few years until I landed at RUSH. After a about five years with a…read morelocal valley youth football and cheer club, not to mention being the cheer director for one year and board member, I pulled my child out about a week before a youth cheer national competition. Reason, I lost all confidence in them to deliver results. Well, I was right and my journey began with researching all the SF Valley all-star teams. I selected West Coast RUSH because they had a stellar record and once my daughter was placed on a team, extra tumbling classes were FREE. GENIUS!!! This encourages team members to take extra tumbling classes; therefore, developing better to exceptional athletes; therefore, developing exceptional teams. The proof is in the pudding, folks. Initially, my daughter was upset when I pulled her from the youth football/cheer club, but now she wishes I would have done it sooner. Just in my daughter's first season, her team has won three national championships and received a PAID BID to the coveted D2 Summit - National Small Program Championship in Florida (April/May 2016). Oh, now about the owner/coach, Carlos Onofre. He is simply AMAZING and it's evident with his current (March 2016 - outcome still pending) U.S. All Star Federation (USASF) nomination for Coach of the Year. The guy knows what he's doing - he's been judging all-star cheer competitions for years and is well respected in the all-star cheer community nationwide.
