Tried an intro class as a newbie. They had 6 people sharing 3 poles. :( The teacher was sweet and talented, but for the price, they shouldn't book more than one person per pole. I had to switch back and forth with a stranger which was awkward and made it even harder for me to pick up the moves. I was, after all, a beginner in a beginner's class. I would consider returning if the studio committed to not overbooking the equipment. For example, a Pilates studio would never ask you to share a Reformer with a stranger, and The Vertitude should hold itself to the same standards as other gym studios with special equipment. read more

The floor was disgustingly dirty,I even had to ask to clean it before class started. And after keeping your studio dirty you still ask to wear masks,it's a joke!!!!))) My name wasn't Jasmin S at your record,that's true.But I was coming to the studio for couple of months. The cameras you have in the studio is where you probably always staring at,bcz every time someone took the mask on chin you came in and yelled to put on mouth and nose. No relax in your studio at all. I might probably come back some time if you guys can let your clients more relaxed and not being that strict. I came here for my first pole class ever and took Intro to Pole with Danielle on a Wednesday afternoon . She was very fun, upbeat, and explained everything well. The studio is very clean and they have loaner yoga mats if you don't have one and they have a water dispenser so bring your own bottle! Overall the instructor and the atmosphere are pretty great however there were more students who were more advanced in the class and seemed like regulars at the studio. It was good until the instructor split us into two groups, the ones who have taken classes with her and the other group were newbies like me. She began to teach then different and more advanced choreography and dedicated a lot of time and instruction to them. This was also an issue because there were not enough poles for everyone, so I was left to share a pole with my friend and we both definitely did not get enough time as everyone to practice. I wish that the more advanced people did not take up the space of an Intro to Pole class which is designed for people who is their fist ever class or they have only had a couple so someone who is really their first time there can get the full class experience. I liked the studio and the instructor but the fact that I didn't learn as much as I'd like due to not having the Intro to Pole Class being focused on beginners the day I went will probably keep me from coming back. The first class is only $20 but after it's $30 a class and I really wonder if it would be worth it for the Intro Classes which is a shame since it's what should motivate you to come again. read more

My class with tavi was SO unprofessional that this review has been mentally festering in my head since being in his class, and i couldnt hold back after thinking it over for a few weeks. He was very self indulgent, constantly making jokes and then griping that no one but himself was amused, over and over. He brought his dog? Now, for the record, i am almost ALWAYS happy to see a dog, i'm the kinda person who lets any random dog on the street jump at my face for kisses and and when owners tell their dog not to jump on me i still let them. But im in a professional studio that i payed to spend time at. Does not make any sense to have a dog running around and running up for kisses to everyone while were doing our warm up stretches. The sweet little girl was so under exercised, her zoomies were out of her own control. You would think at this point he would leash her, but it took until she literally lunged directly at my eye causing me to not be able to open it for like 10 minutes. Finally he leashed her. My eye really hurt. So so so unprofessional and annoying and i have a high tolerance. So class starts, he is helping all the students besides me. I have to ask for help MULTIPLE times, he kept ignoring me which didn't even make sense i am a new student, he should be helping me learn and i had to literally ask like 4 times every time i needed his help, and he barely spent time with me compared to all of the other students. Danielle is the opposite, dont let this review put u off of the studio! cus the lady teAchers are 100% different than this clown!! Will not be taking another Tavi class ever which i dont mind cus his smug self referencing jokes are not amusing. Sorry for harsh review i was and still am kinda pissed. But, i must say danielle pole class is amazing. I came for aerials but danielles class was so much more enjoyable. The female aerial teacher has a kind, warm aura and i cant wait to take her class too. I cant recommend this studio enough, they provide a space for women (and men!) to feel empowered and sexy. I have full respect for the studio and Danielle, who is a fantastic teAcher. Kind, fun, and very helpful! As a guy getting into pole (college loans, you feel me?) it can be a little nerve wracking going to a new studio, but everyone was more welcoming than I could have hoped! After my first class I was sold on taking as many classes as I could. The staff and instructors are incredibly friendly, especially the owners. They're also very open to me making the moves my own and swapping up the choreo a little bit to more appeal to my "audience". I've been coming here for about two months now. Very professional teachers, great class guidance content and safety. This studio is world renowned Incase you are not deeply involved with cirque/pole/aerial arts. I've danced at various studios worldwide for years and this is in my top 3 favorites. Really outstanding. Woman owned/run business as well! I have the platinum plan and am more than happy with its worth. The teachers are excellent at what they do, admin is super responsive in person and online, front desk always super helpful and welcoming, very well maintained facilities and just a well managed business in general. Very fair policies. Also a diverse selection of classes. The studio has a lot of students so try to be strategic in your class selections. I came here last night to redeem a complimentary class of my choice (aerial w/ Jane - who's awesome btw). the last time I came to visit was back in May for their showcase. PROS: -more spacious -love the new dark purple hues inside the studio; compliments the white (light yellow's in the lobby... I'm thinkin the color theme this time's lakers lol)... really nice touch -their clothing line w/ their studio logo has expanded! they have crop tops, booty shorts, sweat pants & matching sweaters, & onesies.. sweet! -I love the fact that they now offer a circus/aerial class just for kids :) -hammock was super fun! CONS: -I wanted to double-check that this comp'd class was actually RSVP'd for me since I didn't see my name in the system, 'cause last time, it wasn't. I attempted to call/email but no response... -the drop-in rate's still too pricey for me ($40) when it's only offered twice a week; excluding the weekend aerial class for kids -sign on the outside still isn't that visible @ nt -lot & street parking was full; had to wait for someone to leave -I was FRUSTRATED that the rt hoop was SUPER HIGH (I'm 4'11 w/ some health issues), & I had to improvise by using a chair just to try to get up on the hoop & condition -_- the lf hoop was TOO DAWN LOW; almost to the pt where your face can touch the floor! OVERALL REVIEW: now, I'm not saying they should cater to my needs, but they should consider accommodating everyone's height & set the hoops to a good height that everyone can fit in. read more

The Vertitude is AMAZING!!! I've been here for about a year now and the environment here is so different compared to other studios I've been to! No one is competitive or thinks they're better than others. When i first started attending the studio I thought i would be judged or laughed at for not being able to do certain things since i didn't have the strength yet, but boy was i WRONG!! I really like the Vertitude! It's clean, the instructors are fantastic, and it's a good community. Located in a warehouse setting in Canoga Park, they have loads of parking in the lot. One time I came and they didn't have any more spots, but there was also ample street parking. Every time I come the staff are always friendly and quick to greet with a smile. They have lots of things available for purchase, from shoes to grip aids to apparel. They have two studios, one large one with multiple kinds of poles (X-Pole, Platinum Stages, Lupit Pole) and a smaller one. Both studios are always impeccably clean and tidy, with loaner mats, rubbing alcohol for the poles, etc. They have great audio and the lighting is beautiful for all your Instagram needs ;) They offer open pole so often, and everyone's always really great about respecting your space. Awhile ago, when I was still not too far into my pole journey, I took a level 1 class with Danielle G (the owner) and found her instruction to be both patient and detailed. She knows how to make the simple basics look good and flow well, and is an immensely talented dancer! I also took a class with Danielle Christine and she provided a unique prop-based warmup with very technical instruction. My pole mom Veronica also teaches here on Saturdays and I guarantee you'll learn a lot from those classes, as her instruction has positively transformed my dancing. I've also taken lyra with Lyndsey, who is incredibly patient and great at giving variations by meeting you in the middle. She's a very competent spotter and I felt safe trying out all sorts of tricks with her. Additionally, I've taken workshops here with Laura Marie and Iris, who are fantastic dancers and instructors who have really helped me focus on dancing with intention. The pricing is on par with other pole/aerial studios, with some fantastic new client deals ($20 for your first class or $75 for your first five classes) and class packages to help lower the cost. With the level of instruction offered here and the amenities provided, I certainly think their pricing is fair. Finally, though I'm not here often (as I live on the other side of the Valley and my schedule doesn't really permit frequent visits), I've always found the community to be incredibly kind and supportive. Their members are always sweet, helpful, and approachable, and I've grown to become friends with them outside of the studio setting! You will gain the most from your experience here as the Vertitude embodies all of C's desires for a unique and optimal workout experience. I was a bit intimidated about taking pole dancing classes, but I just had to learn how to climb that pole! My friend and I had purchased a groupon for 5 classes. She only attended one class and let me tell you why! Our first instructor was beyond rude and not patient at all. She clearly showed favoritism. She was frustrated that us newbies weren't catching on quickly and mumbled under her breath "am I speaking English or what?!" My friend never returned after that comment and who would blame her? I on the other hand took my next 4 classes with sergia. She is an amazing teacher and I'm so glad I took her classes. Don't be fooled. Pole dancing is extremely difficult! I'm just glad I was able to learn how to climb the pole within 5 classes. Good luck! read more

Really, really wanted to like this place. Sergia, owner of Vertitude, is an amazing performer, professional and a lovely person to boot. We met briefly at a pole expo and I've wanted to come learn from her studio ever since. To be honest I found my Level 3 class, taught by a substitute instructor, a bit disjointed. While our instructor was no doubt a great dancer, she taught a variety of 'student choice' tricks without much sequencing. One student especially wanted to work on elbow holds... I don't know about you but my elbows cannot sustain an hour of elbow grips :( Also, she never once said her name to the class, nor did she ask my name and/ or pole background (pretty common conversation when you drop into a new studio for a class). I had a nice time, but would love to come back to check out a class taught by a regular instructor. read more

The Vertitude is a fun place to get fit because it offers many classes (salsa, pole fitness, burlesque, aerial hoop, silks, pilates and krav maga), but the pole classes dominate as the summer schedule offer mostly these as opposed to the other classes. I do see there are workshops/bootcamps/events and private classes as well. The place itself is very nice. Lots of space with 8 poles, 2 aerial hoops, silks, dressing area, bathroom. Mats are provided as well as a water station. I'm not sure if there's a shower, but I never had to use it. Outside at the reception, they also sell clothing. So far, I've only met Duncan and Sergia who are both very pleasant and encouraging. For the classes, the Pole fitness is structured with 30 minutes stretching/mat, followed by 45min pole fitness (combo w 2 spins/1 trick) then cool down. Sergia's always upbeat and her classes fly by. She's really great at breaking down moves and went around to make sure everyone could follow. I also tried Sergia's Pilates Mat class which was easy to follow and left you feeling a good stretch. Because Sergia is trained as a dancer, you'll notice her classes are more on the expressive 'dancey' side. She does everything with grace and ease. You might like her classes if you're bored of the traditional yoga. Then again, you might not like it if you don't care much for rhythm and dance. This is the third pole studio I've tried. Instructors really make a difference. I tried the Goddess Fitness in Santa Clarita 6years ago and it was sort of a mess then I didn't care much going back. I also had an awesome teacher who works for Bobbi's Pole Studio and she made everything so easy so I am a little biased towards her, but I guess I could love Sergia... lol This is a great place to try pole fitness. I'm approaching my one year anniversary being at The Vertitude and all I have to say is... I love this studio more than ever. Since I've started, I've definitely noticed an increase in my flexibility and strength. I'm doing things I've never thought possible for my body! I mainly focus on pole and it's the only workout I'm addicted to. =P Some notable changes that have happened since my last review: -They have grown! Management has changed up but it's clear it's definitely for the better. More classes, more variety, more instructors, and even more poles (11 poles! 7 of which are tall). It's not just limited to aerial and pole--there's a conditioning class, Buti yoga, burlesque and even a circus class for kids! And classes are now 7 days a week. -The membership price has gone up from when I started but with the addition of new classes, it's totally understandable. They have different levels (Basic, Silver, Gold, Platinum) of memberships to accommodate how frequently you can go, but the Platinum (unlimited) is still the best deal if you go more than 3 times a week. Drop-in class prices are pricy at every studio I've seen, so definitely go for the membership if you're able! -There are new instructors and they are all friendly and welcoming. Safety is always a priority and they make sure to work with individuals with spotting and breaking things down. It's wonderful to see such supportive instructors and students. I brought a friend for her first intro pole class recently who felt a little intimidated (I definitely felt that way my first class). But Sergia was super supportive and my friend felt so accomplished afterwards. It's an amazing thing to see! It makes a huge difference to be in an encouraging, safe and supportive environment, which I've always seen at The Vertitude. I love the vertitude allows me to bring my pole ideas into reality with their pole playground. This studio is HUGE to me! Their open pole is second to non. I've never had an issue being booked, or more so not being able to book an open pole session. They offer free water, and have new sparkly pleasures to purchase. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. I love it when business owners treat their clients with respect and welcoming attitudes. I also, I noticed this studio doesn't really get stuffy because of the high ceilings, It's easier for me to breath in there. read more

This studio has quickly become my 2nd home. I first became acquainted with the studio through a friend at the Chamber of Commerce, and shortly thereafter I started following their updates on Facebook. When I saw their deal on Amazon Local for month unlimited pass, I snapped it up. The Vertitude is a studio for both dance and self defense (Krav Maga). It is a spacious location with 2 studios and adequate parking in a lot as well as free street parking available. As a dancer, I was primarily attracted to the dance side, but with some encouragement from my boyfriend I tried the Krav Maga as well. I have taken an into to Krav Maga class and their women's self defense workshop. The Krav Maga instructors (Duncan and Mitch) are great. Krav Maga is a very practical, no frills style of self defense. In the workshop, we covered palm strikes, hammer fist, kicks, knees, and defending choke holds. It is a little frightening, but you are better off for it. I have taken several pole dance classes as well, after studying pole dance at several other studios throughout the LA area (see my other reviews). I really appreciate that these pole classes are reasonably priced - and there is no reduction in quality, either. Pole classes follow a typical format of mat-based warm up, pole practice, and a little improv performance at the end. All the instructors for pole (Sergia, Iris, and most recent addition Katherine Voorhies) are very accomplished. They teach, perform, and compete in pole dance. Sergia also teaches the mat pilates, Zumba, and salsa classes, which I have not taken. So far I have taken 2 belly dance workshops there with Nikki, and those are great as well. The studio has various special events such as photo shoots and performances. Normal prices for class are $20 drop in, $150 for a package of 10 (expires one year after purchase - now that is a generous amount of time to use your package), or they have monthly unlimited packages ($120 for the majority of students, $99 for students/military). read more

This is an amazing pole studio for many reasons... The instructors, owner and front desk staff are all kind, supportive, fun people. They have several poles so that there is never more than two people sharing (and that's even rarely the case), I've been to other studios where there could be up to three people sharing a pole! They have soooo many classes to choose from at all levels and a large amount of open aerial/pole classes as well. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a new pole/aerial home! LOVE LOVE LOVE THE VERTITUDE! I've been to handful of different studios all over the LA/OC area and this is by far the best one I've been to. I live in Hollywood and don't give a rat's @$$ that I have to drive 45 minutes to the Vertitude multiple times a week--because I love it that much. If I didn't have a day job, I would probably be here ALL THE TIME. - Great space. High ceilings so you get to climb super high. 14 feet, I believe. - The instructors. My goodness.They're all amazing. The instructors sometimes rotate teaching classes so you get to experience a lot of different teaching styles and you can figure out which instructor best suits you. A lot of them also come from a variety of backgrounds, from experienced dancers/gymnasts to ZERO dance/fitness experience. [Veronika is one of my favorites because like me, also started with zero dance background so she has a real knack for communicating to newbies!] All of the instructors keep a keen eye on your skill level: they always adjust the tricks/spins to your skill level to make sure you're safe, while still challenging and pushing you further. - Amazingly supportive community. If you go consistently, you become familiar and friendly with your fellow students who are probably of the same skill level as you too. I love seeing the improvements in myself, as well as my peers. And it's always a great feeling walking into a studio and seeing familiar faces :) - Although the Vertitude primarily focuses on pole, they offer classes with other aerial apparatuses, i.e. hoop/lyra, silks/tissu, hammock, trapeze...No need to be intimidated: they have an aerial class specifically targeted towards and designed for beginners. - Prices are a bit steep, especially if you just want to do pole casually and occasionally. But if you really want to delve in and advance your aerial skills, the Vertitude offers amazing package deals that save you a lot of dinero if you go multiple times a week. If you're at all interested in pole dancing, the Vertitude is the place to start. I've even started to bring along my roommate (a newbie to the aerial arts) and she is absolutely hooked too. I just discovered this place through a Groupon, and at first I was very skeptical. It's located off Canoga Ave in a business in a small warehouse building. But, being that it's after work, all the parking spaces are open and the door is open. Duncan will be at the desk waiting for you! These guys are great! I am so in love with everyone who works and visits there! Sergia is the most fun teacher I've had, and she does a great job of mixing dance technique in with fun and sensual moves, and muscle building pole spins! The pole fitness classes start with 45 minutes of pilates and yoga move that are the perfect end to a long work day. Then, once you're all loosened up and feeling good, she gives you some interesting walks, spins, etc to work on one at a time. She is a very capable teacher and makes everything super simple for advanced or beginning students. I am going to buy a membership as soon as my Groupons runs out. $120/mo for unlimited classes!!! My friend and I found a deal on Groupon for pole dance or aerial classes. She was really excited to try it out, I was a bit unsure. I am not the most coordinated, flexible person. But thought it might be worth a shot, and it was! The classes here all so much fun! The instructors are all incredible - very different personalities makes the class interesting and just watching them do their thing amazes me every time at how graceful and beautiful they look. The instructors are very patient, and most to of them make an effort to help each student individually if needed. And although I still am not the most coordinated, after 10 classes, I can definitely tell that there is much improvement in my endurance and stamina. Any of the classes here are a great work out, especially for building upper body and core strength. The packages and pricing is a bit expensive, but if you can afford it, I think this studio is fantastic! read more

I dropped in from out of town and coming to this studio just further intensifies my love for the aerial community. This is like one of the "holy grails" of studios in the world! I was honestly afraid that there would be an elitist attitude - but I should have known better. Everyone was so nice and friendly. The instructor, Brynn, was AMAZING. Very friendly also. The instructors are very friendly and helpful. They answer questions well and return your calls promptly. Took a pole dance class and the studio has a nice vibe and the instructor was helpful, although I've taken classes at a different studio where they seem to be more clear about directions on executing moves, but one should be able to keep up and ask for help if needed at this studio. Looking forward to trying the other classes (Krav Maga). You need to schedule for a pole class, but everything else is open. The groupon is a good deal. read more

This place is simply amazing. The instructors are really supportive and professional. They care about helping you and take their time with each student. I got the unlimited class package and I take class at least 6 times a week and it more than pays for itself. Mostly I take the pole dancing classes and I am addicted. I've taken 2 different types of classes here. A while ago, I took the advanced aerial class which was a combination of lyra and silks. We started with a dance warm-up and then moved on to conditioning on both, but in the end it seemed like we just focused on lyra. The combinations on lyra weren't for a first-time student, but in general the material on silks would fall squarely into the beginner realm at places such as Aerial Physique, Cirque School and Womack & Bowman. I don't know why, but this class, it's pace and material just wasn't my style. More recently, I've taken hammock w/ Jane a couple times. I liked these classes a lot more than the other one. The instructor was very attentive and precise in her teaching, which works well for my learning style. There seemed to be a lot of regulars in the hammock classes (a good sign). Compared to other aerial studios: As a more general comment and FYI, I find that aerial classes mainly follow either of the two types of curriculum: 1) everyone works on different things depending on their level and interest; or 2) everyone works on variations of the same sequence depending on their level. Aerial Warehouse, TSNY and Aerial Classroom are examples of studios that follow #1. Aeriform and Urban Aerial Fitness are examples of studios that follow #2. Vertitude's classes seem to mostly follow the structure of #2. The reason I prefer #1 is because you get the opportunity to give everyone a strong foundational skill set, that they can build off of. #2 is more sink or swim, you get to learn interesting things faster, but it can very hodge dodge in learning. The Vertitude offers wide variety of special classes that fits your schedule! The Krav Maga instructors are well experienced and teaches self-defenses that are easy to attain. They condition your body to adjust your training skills level. I especially like this exercise/self-defense training, because it helps you develop important tactics, which most of us takes for granted. The pole fitness classes are awesome. It helps you to become strong and develop every muscle in your body. It is a good upper body and core workout. read more
