From women's gym with all their variety of classes to private lessons with a gym instructor. It was all too boring!!!! Finally, by accident, I found Claudia and her Around the World Dance Workout and I have been happy ever since. Without any exaggeration, this is the place where you can find me at least 3 times a week and I would love to be there even more often. It is FUN! The music is amazing! The dance routines are fun! This dance work out shapes you up and puts you in the mood for the entire day. Claudia, the instructor is a beautiful person. She is gentle and loving. We all absolutely adore her. The ladies that are going to these classes are a lovely group of people and we all became friendly. It is becoming a club not just for workout, but to share news and ideas among people with common interests. Our…read moreoldest has moved on to other interests, but our 7-year-old continues with ballet and loves it. I've watched Elite grow from a smaller studio into the powerhouse it is today. Elite is an excellent dance studio, from day one through their very polished recitals. It's important to note that this is not a cutesy/playtime type of studio. Dance is a discipline, and so dress code and presentation are taken seriously. For first-timers, that might feel a little intimidating, but there's a reason behind it. Hair and makeup need to be spot-on for recitals, because there's always a chance your cute 3 or 4-year-old might get on stage and just stand there! But guess what? They'll look fantastic doing it. And then, year after year, you'll see their confidence and ability grow. As a parent, you will need to stay on top of recital packets to know who/what/where/when, and I find Elite to be very thorough in the material they send out, or if you simply call them ahead of time. Another perk.. they have a professional photographer who takes photos on stage and backstage at shows/recitals for FREE. As well as a videographer, which is very much appreciated. The owner, Toni, taught my oldest years ago and is fantastic, both as a teacher and as a business owner. Neither of my girls have ever been on team, but both have always enjoyed their classes. The teachers are wonderful with age-appropriate instruction (shout out to Miss Princess with the littles) and technique. My 7-year-old only takes one ballet class currently, yet she could not be more excited to be performing in The Nutcracker for her second year in a row. Needless to say, we love Elite!

I checked out the website and for $20 it was worth trying out. Artbox Studio is the most picturesque dance studio that I've ever seen. Owner Crystal Duran is an absolute doll! She's been dancing since she was 8 years old, which explains why she is so graceful and elegant on the dance floor. Crystal's energy and enthusiasm made it easy & enjoyable to learn the moves even for a novice like me. She provided step by step instructions and broke down the fundamentals. We practiced each part before combing the moves together. Once we learned the routine we took turns dancing with different partners, which was also fun. Reminded me of speed dating. LOL! I struggled a bit at first but towards the end it got easier. Crystal is a fantastic teacher. In addition to Salsa, you can also learn Bachata, Samba, Hip-hop, Ball Room, Dance Fitness, & Belly Dancing - ranging from beginning to advance. She also offers classes for kids. Prices are $20 for a single session, or you can get a package deal of 10 for $180. If you want to learn how to dance or brush up on your technique - Artbox is the place! If you want a fun night out with your friends, Cyrstal hosts a Salsa/Bachata social dance class every other Friday at The Oaks at Lakeside for $15. We were already down to the wire in terms of timing, but the manager, Stephanie, was so incredibly kind and accommodating. We worked with Any and she was so sweet and patient with us. She choreographed a beautiful first dance for us in a very short amount of time. We started with a package of 3 lessons, and ended up adding a couple more at the end because, well, we were pretty terrible lol, but it all worked out. The studio is open pretty late (until like 9pm or later) and there's plenty of parking in front and in back. The only thing I didn't like is that you share the studio space with others, or sometimes a class, so you have to share the music and sometimes have to maneuver around people, which can throw you off a little.

My now-husband and I were inexperienced dancers who wanted to have a memorable first dance at our wedding, so we gathered a few of our favorite songs and signed up for a series of 12 one-hour private lessons with Lisa. At our first meeting, we told her what we were imagining for our first dance and our possible song selections. Lisa asked us about our dance experience and showed us some initial dance moves to get a feel for how we would learn and what type of dance would work best for us. After our initial session with her, she started choreographing our dance, and after that we spent the next few weeks having a lot of fun, learning about dancing and working to perfect our moves. Our routine was exactly the right amount of difficulty -- a little bit challenging but totally doable for us with a few weeks of practice with her, and the best part was it was entirely unique to us! Lisa was a lot of fun to work with throughout the process, and her positive attitude was awesome. When there were parts of our routine that we weren't comfortable with or wanted to change, she was very open to hearing us and helping us find another way to make our dance perfect for us. Not only did we have the perfect dance for our first dance together, but we also had her choreograph a group dance for us and our wedding party to perform together to kick off the dancing at our wedding. It was quick to learn, and we taught it to our wedding party ourselves. It was a big hit and so much fun on wedding day! Lastly, we brought my dad in for one of our lessons so we could run through a basic father daughter dance. Lisa was great helping my dad out with refining his rusty moves. It definitely helped ease everyone's minds that we'd have a smooth night of dancing for our wedding day.
