1-Star Review -- Studio D Salon, Dupont, WA
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Studio D Salon. Unfortunately, this was not simply a case of being unhappy with a hairstyle. There were multiple issues throughout my experience, including a scalp burn, repeated scheduling problems, a color result that was not what I requested, and an unresolved dispute over more than $800 in hair extensions that were purchased through the salon.
I originally wanted blonde hair and extensions. During my appointment, Samantha, the stylist, bleached my hair and burned my scalp. Her daughter was also in the salon during the appointment, and there were significant distractions, including her spraying water around the salon. Because my scalp had been irritated and needed time to recover, Samantha asked me to return a few days later so we could continue the color process. I agreed and had already pre-tipped for the service, trusting that the situation would be corrected.
Unfortunately, the next result was not the blonde hair I had requested. My hair ended up orange, and I was then told that we should consider going darker instead. This was particularly frustrating because I had specifically wanted to go blonde and had already paid for the extensions intended to complete the look.
At the next appointment, Samantha had forgotten about my appointment and double-booked me with another client. After all of these issues, we discussed continuing the process at another appointment. Ultimately, my hair was left with a mixture of brunette and orange tones, rather than the blonde result I originally requested.
The situation with my Bellami extensions was also extremely frustrating. On July 10, 2024, I paid $832.75 for Bellami hair extensions through the salon. These extensions were intended to be installed as part of my service. However, the installation never took place. Not to include the fees for Samantha to do the process and the pre-given tip amount.
After months of waiting, the salon reordered the extensions around October 6-8, and I finally received the box from the salon manager on October 12. When I attempted to resolve the situation and requested a refund, I was told by Samantha that I needed to contact Bellami myself and return the unused extensions myself.
That was extremely disappointing. The extensions were purchased through the salon for a service that the salon did not ultimately provide. I do not believe it should have been my responsibility to navigate the return of the product simply because I requested a refund after the salon failed to provide the service for which the extensions were purchased.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I was not asking for something unreasonable. I paid for a specific service, experienced damage to my scalp, did not receive the blonde result I requested, experienced scheduling problems, and ultimately never received the extension installation I paid for.
I believe Studio D should take greater responsibility for its clients and for resolving problems when services do not go as planned. Customer service should not end once the payment has been processed.
I am giving Studio D one star because that is the minimum I can give. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering a major color service or expensive extensions to make sure they fully understand the salon's policies regarding refunds, extensions, corrections, and responsibility for products purchased through the salon.
I sincerely hope Studio D takes this experience as an opportunity to improve how it communicates with and takes care of its clients. read more
