I followed my stylist to Studio Booth and I'm happier than ever with her and the environment of the salon. While it can get a bit busy, it generally manages to stay feeling clean and calm and relaxing even when there are a lot of clients - the space is laid out well so it doesn't feel like a maze but you don't feel like the entire salon is able to stare at you while you sit around with foils in your hair, either. Plus, the shampoo chairs are really ridiculously comfortable. I'd probably go regularly just for a wash and dry if I could afford it. My stylist, Sharon, is some kind of cut and color goddess. I've been seeing her for a few years now, starting when I had fairly long hair (I used to have hair to my knees and had been gradually working shorter) and she's always been really patient and attentive - no hacking off 10" when she said she was going to take 2" - but also is good at tactfully pointing out if she thinks something won't work well with your hair type or face shape or care needs. I've seen her do a few other clients also, and my mom sees her too, and I have yet to see a bad cut or color over a pretty big range of hair types. It's to the point now where last time I went I just showed her a photo to give her an idea of how short I was willing to go, and told her to do what she thought would look best. I ended up with a super cute short style that works really well with my hair's natural tendencies. I'm going back for a trim soon and will probably just let her do what she likes again. To specifically mention color for a moment - I get highlights from her to brighten up my naturally medium-to-dark blond hair, and she's got a great way with color. The highlights always look good and, important for people who are busy and can't always get in to the salon on schedule, grow out well, so you don't end up with a really harsh line at the roots. She also adapts what she's doing with the color well to allow for natural changes from things like more exposure to sun in the summer. She also has done my brows a few times, and I was happy with that, but my skin is crazy sensitive so I don't get them fully waxed often. Finally, I've had one manicure at Studio Booth and that was also an enjoyable experience. The polish didn't actually last super long on me, but that's normal for me (I haven't tried the gel polishes yet, but every other combination of base+polish+top I've tried ends up lasting a couple of days on average) and the shaping was nicely done and it overall felt like a really nice and relaxing experience, which is a lot of what I'd pay for in a manicure or pedicure anyway. read more

When I first moved to Pittsburgh, I struggled to find a hair stylist that specialized in ethnic hair. Studio Booth is a full service salon and I do mean full service. Head to toe they will hook you up. Ron, the Owner, also manages to have some of the most interesting earrings and scarves for sale in addition to wonderful hair products that you would expect. All the hair stylists are friendly and do a great job from what I've seen looking at their finished products. HOWEVER. There is one stylist there who is particularly close to my heart. IZEAR! Izear. Izear. This man can do anything with your hair! I have been seeing Izear for at least 40 years. No lie. Wherever he goes I go. His skills are off the chart. He is warm and listens to your vision of what you want and if you don't have a vision he'll create something just right for you. I know this is already long and I don't want anyone to not read this so I'll cut it short. Professional. Helpful. Kind. I could go on but in a nutshell, Izear is the absolute BEST! read more

Loved Studio Booth. I went in yesterday for the first time as a walk-in, unsure they'd take me since it was a Saturday, but I was able to fit in. Both receptionists were very happy, very friendly - which makes a difference! Their waiting area serves drinks and coffee, and has a TV to watch while you wait. The inside is very spacious, much bigger than it seems from the outside - and it's a very fancy place. I was seen within five minutes, and the stylist who cut my hair, Sharon, was wonderful - just the right amount of talkative but attentive. She didn't push me to buy any products or do anything different from my routine, just gave me a great cut. They take credit cards, but tips are cash-only, so make sure to have some on hand (I didn't, so I had to run to Trader Joe's next door to get some change). I'm definitely making this my regular place from now on! read more

I have been following Lyndsay around for 10+ years now. The girl is the best! I'm usually a blonde but she has done everything on me from brunette to redhead and short cuts to long (I like a little change every now and then ;) ). She is so talented, everything she does with me looks natural. Her cuts are always perfect and to add to the experience she is wonderful to talk to. She did my hair and all my bridesmaids' hair for my wedding and I cannot even tell you how many people asked where I went! This salon is absolutely beautiful. You definitely have to book well in advance because openings go quick. The staff is all very nice and it is great to get such a wonderful service in a place so nice. But to be honest I would follow Lyndsay to her basement if that's where she went next! read more

Fantastic! I love Studio Booth! My daughter and I both go for Ouidad hair cuts. If you are a curly hair girl or guy, I highly recommend the Ouidad cut and products, BUT you also need a salon that has the staff that can accommodate the number of clients that will demand this cut. (only 2 salons in pgh area) Andrew, owner, is so forward thinking and invested in his staff and salon that EVERY SINGLE STYLIST is trained to give the Ouidad cut. Stephanie is consultative, asking insightful questions to be sure I am getting the most out of my cut and products. I really can not say enough about these wonderful people! I have been going here since it opened and have never been disapointed. I always leave looking fabulous and feeling beautiful. My stylist, Sharon, does the best color, no one can ever. I have very fine/thin hair that does not handle color, especially, blond color, very well and I used to constantly have issues with breakage etc. Since I started seeing Sharon, my hair look 100 times healthier. She also does hait extensions that look beyond natural. I never got complimented on my hair until I started seeing Sharon at Studio Booth. read more

She was beautiful, talented, and what really struck me was not only did I love the way my hair looked, but she styled, cut and colored it so quickly! Lyndsay is a real professional.
