Thank Goodness for Christine and the crew at Studio 8! They were a beacon in a Covid storm for a Pilates junkie looking for a new home. Even though I adored my instructors at Midtown, renewing a gym membership was just not the right decision for my family. Also, I dont think I could ever return to a just a gym that offered pilates versus a private studio that is fully dedicated to the full body workout it truly is. There is a sense of focus and commitment that is just absent from other gyms. When it comes to quality of instruction - I do have my favorites (Christine, Hailey), however I am excited to work with her other rockstar staff that peers of mine rave about. I've been doing pilates for a little over four years now and find that the instructors I've worked with are extremely challenging in both a class setting and during a private client session. I even started regularly doing jumpboard with some success! Pilates is the only full body workout that has both saved my sports-addled joints and returned my body to pre-pregnancy shape (even stronger) while making me feel calm and centered after each class. I cant recommend it enough and cant recommend Christine's studio enough either. read more

No I'm obsessed. Have taken classes with two different instructors and they were both amazing. Kind, patient, encouraging. Clean cute studio. Love love loveeee no notes read more

This is a story about the class that almost didn't happen. I was going to be in the area that day and it just so happened to be a holiday weekend. I had signed up online and received a text from the owner a few hours before class noting I was the only one signed up for class and generally they do not hold classes for a single student...womp womp womp. I was really excited to take a jump board class---but I get it--me, myself, and I does not really constitute a "class"---I said no worries just credit my account back and I'll see if I can find something else to do at that time. I was devastated, ok maybe more like really bummed---I really wanted to take jump board reformer class. A few minutes later the owner said she would ask the instructor if she would mind teaching a class with one student since there was another class right before my scheduled class---- Julie said yes!!!!!! So I willingly went in to have my butt kicked and it was great!!!! Julie was an awesome instructor; encouraging, upbeat, and provided great cueing! I love instructors who push me and are genuinely excited to see me sweat profusely. Hope to be able to take some more classes there sooner rather than later. Bonus--they have a shared parking lot next door as well. read more

I've been lazy. To be fair, it isn't entirely my fault. An injury a few years back sidelined me from running for some time. Right when I was getting back on my feet, a family crisis turned my world upside down. Since then, I've had a hard time getting back into a routine. I'm getting old. It's taken me a long time to recover from my injury. I still have pain with some regularity, but if I'm good about core strength and stretching, I can feel mostly normal. It was important to me to find an exercise regimen that helped gain core strength without risking injury to my problem areas. I'd like to say I picked Studio 8 after thorough research, but really I chose it because of its proximity to my house, class schedule and package options. Before Studio 8, the only pilates I had done was a mat class by my old house. I didn't love it and assumed that I'd be more of a reformer girl. I started out with the new student package. If you're new to pilates, I highly recommend it! I started taking mat classes in addition to reformer classes and fell in love with Gisela's mat class. I hate missing weeks and intend to continue with my Saturday mat crew even though I no longer live down the street. Occasionally, I take reformer classes; my only disappointment is that there's only one beginner group reformer class. Now that I live miles away; it's not feasible for me to make it there after work. I wish there was a weekend option too. If you're looking for a pilates studio with friendly instructors that emphasize form and make accommodations for limitations; I recommend trying this place out. read more

This was one of the WORST experiences I have had with any pilates studio in my life. Upon arriving, CHRISTINE HALL was extremely rude making me and my boyfriend feel very uncomfortable. She made a desperate point to make us feel unwelcome and verbally and energetically attacked. She asked several times if we had signed up and mentioned how she couldn't find us in the system after I stated several times that I had spoken to a different instructor and was there for their class. She then says, "I don't see a voicemail- who did you speak with?" (Mind you, she's shouting at us from across the room)...She concludes here pathetic attempt to berate us with an "oh well, good luck" as the instructor makes her way over to introduce herself. CHRISTINE HALL is extremely unprofessional with the way she approached us. The class itself, although the teacher was very nice in comparison to this seemingly miserable woman Christine, was not even above average. In my opinion, there was no true intensity and it truly didn't even feel as if we worked anything or had a competent workout. It felt more like playing on the reformer machines with the lowest intensity possible. The reason I tried this class in the first place is because I just arrived back from NY where I fell in love with pilates while attending a studio in SOHO. I saw results that inspired me to give a class a try in my neighborhood lincoln park. BIG MISTAKE. It was like the clique clubhouse of BASIC BITCHES. Seriously. If you're looking for good vibes and an inspiring and conducive time... DON'T GO HERE! It'll be a waste of your money and time. I am a woman of color and suspect Christine is unfortunately a racist woman who is miserable. My partner is white and immediately noticed her demeanor towards me. It was poignant and in all honesty... just sad. Who does that unless their deeply unsettled inside? DON 'T GO IF HERE YOU ACTUALLY WANT RESULTS AND WANT TO GET A GOOD BURN OUT. Also - DON'T COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE AROUND BEAUTIFUL WOMEN WITH POSITIVE ATTITUDES AND GOOD ENERGY. This place will take more from you than truly giving anything. read more

This has been my pilates studio for almost 7 years. I love the owner, staff, studio and the location. Pilates is the only thing that has fixed my low back issues. I have 3 kids and they wrecked my body / back and pilates saved me! The classes offered during COVID protocol feel very safe and are following strict rules. The virtual classes kicked my butt too so those are worth a try as well! This will continue to be my go-to for pilates always and my main form of working out until I feel safe going back to my gym. read more

I've been taking classes here for about 3 months now, and all of the instructors are wonderful - each bringing a different personality and style to each class. The studio is large and clean, and social distancing and sanitizing are enforced. I've been really happy with the experience! read more

I have been taking lessons at Studio 8 for over a year now and I am completely addicted!! My body has become more toned, flexible and much stronger. Both the owner Christine and my teacher Jessica are very kind, knowledgeable and make each session fun and challenging. The studio has a very warm and laid back vibe but that doesn't mean your instructors aren't committed to and serious about your well-being and the Pilates practice. They offer both group classes and private sessions. The studio is attractive and clean with a lot of natural light. I feel at home there, and I can tell by the number of clients who are regulars that they feel the same. I highly recommend this studio, whether you're new to the practice or a seasoned athlete. read more

I have been very happy with my experience at studio 8; Christine is a very talented and experienced instructor with good queuing and modifications. Classes are always challenging and unique, and run in a friendly yet professional manner. read more

Love this place! I made the switch from my health club that required a monthly fee and a fee for Pilates classes. So glad I did! It has been worth every penny! Hailey Wood and Christine Hall are awesome at meeting your needs. read more

Studio 8 Pilates is incredible. I have been going here for almost two years and have benefitted so much from private instruction. Both Riley and Jess are amazing instructors and have really taken the time to learn my goals and help with some physical issues I have. One thing about me: I am obsessed with pilates jumpboard reformer classes. Obsessed. One thing about jumpboard reformer classes - those babies are hard to find. Enter Studio 8. While other studios might offer jumpboard classes once a week if you're lucky, this place offers four a week. I'm in heaven. Oh, and for those not familiar with the class, they attach a huge board to the end of the reformer and you get to kick off it while doing cray cray stuff with your legs. Sometimes they'll be straight up in the air, sometimes your feet will be expected to land wide or heels together, and sometimes you just get to jump. But the best thing is you will work your abs ridiculously hard and get your cardio on without any pounding on the joints. Srsly, this class makes my flat feet so happy. So, if you're in a cardio rut, go here and thank me later. Oh, and take Veronica's class. She had us rocking fun moves I've never tried before, and hands down is my new fave jumpboard instructor. Just do it. read more

Ok let's try this again. I have been going to Studio 8 for over a year and I always train with Gisela, LOVE HER! She is very attentive and listens to what you need. I started with major back and neck pains and am doing so much better. She will challenge me, but never make me do anything that cause pain or discomfort. This place is so up to date the owner Christine is amazing and makes sure things are well kept and clean. Going here is one of the best decisions I have made for my health. I look forward to going back every week. read more

I have been going to Studio 8 for over five years and never tire of the classes. Chris and her entire staff are very knowledgeable and have helped shape me to be a better me. She offers a variety of group as well as tailored one on one classes that uses a variety of equipment. Try a class and you're bound to be a student for life! read more

I love Studio 8 Pilates! I've been doing Pilates for 11 years and am a bit picky when it comes not just to studios, but also instructors. I have taken privates and duets, as well as group classes on the mat, reformer, jump board and MOTR and I have enjoyed and been challenged by them all. The owner, Christine, is amazing and will make sure to help you find your fit at her studio whether it's with her or one of her equally as talented staff of instructors. read more

Studio 8 is amazing! I've been doing Pilates regularly for 3+ years and this is by far my favorite place. (Full disclosure: I followed my instructor, Erin, to Studio 8 from a previous studio because she is so fantastic!) The studio is meticulously clean and the equipment is all top of the line. Plus, there are two walls of windows that let in a TON of natural light so the space itself is really inviting. I have not taken a class at the studio, so I cannot speak to that, but the private sessions are great. As I said, I followed my instructor from a previous studio so naturally I recommend her highly. I have seen the other instructors working when I'm in the studio and every one of them is patient, knowledgable, and supportive of their clients. There's no pressure to be perfect or know exactly what you're doing right off the bat. The focus is much more on your growth, health, and comfort. In my personal experience (and I've seen this with other instructors as well), Erin gets just as excited as I do when I'm able to complete a series or do an exercise that I was not able to do before. It's definitely a welcoming environment for people of all ability levels. read more

I'm a big believer that everyone should integrate pilates in their workout plan along with cardio, strength training etc..., but this is relatively new thinking for me. I started mat pilates 2 years ago and can't believe it took me this long to discover pilates, but more importantly I can't believe it took be this long to discover Studio 8 Pilates. Pilates is the best for core strength, posture and all around joint and muscle health. Since taking pilates my back issues have improved over time - this has been life changing. Pilates is fabulous, but having the right teachers and atmosphere is a must. I've been going to Studio 8 Pilates for about a year and Christine and the other instructors are excellent, take personalize approach and really challenge you to become stronger and fit. read more

Over the past couple of years Studio 8 has been instrumental in my recovery from a serious medical situation-- both emotionally and physically, this studio has been AMAZING. I have progressed in fits and starts but I am getting stronger all the time -- and my instructors, Christine and Nadia, have been great about tailoring things to my body. Everyone is so friendly and kind here, and the classes are fun (and challenging!) to boot. read more

I started taking virtual mat classes when my gym closed due to COVID. I was a novice to Pilates and worried I wouldn't be able to understand what to do virtually but it has been wonderful. Christine Hall has been an excellent instructor! They offer virtual classes for all different types of levels at a very reasonable rate. So nice to have this option to work out in the privacy and safety of my home. read more

This pilates studio is a favorite of mine. The building is clean and full of light, the instructors (I've had multiple session with 3 instructors in the past few months so far) are friendly and make sure everyone in the class are doing positions correctly, but in a gentle manner. Both the jumpboard reformer and mat classes are fun and challenging. Great whether you want to keep fit, train for a race, or get better after an injury. Class size fluctuates from 2 to 9. I'd suggest taking advantage of the first class discount ($10 for a mat class, $19 for jumpboard reformer). Also, you can park in the lot next to the studio. read more

Studio 8 Pilates is fantastic. Although it is a newer place, the owner and director, Christine Hall has been in the fitness and Pilates business for many, many years. I have relied on her Pilates instruction and classes since 2008. Christine and Studio 8 have an incredible dedication to great fitness, lifestyle and health. This is an incredible place and I recommend them to everyone who is interested in getting really great instruction, whatever level you are at. They are friendly, professional, dedicated, extremely knowledgeable about physical fitness, Pilates, and anatomy. I am deeply grateful for all the instruction and learning i get here. read more

I can't say enough great things about this Pilates Studio. I have some Pilates experience...I've been practicing on and off for about 15 years, I'm a licensed Physical Therapist, and I'm also a certified APPI Pilates Mat instructor. After having my second child I decided I wanted to get back into Pilates. I live in the neighborhood and would walk by the studio always wanting to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! My first experience was with Gisela-she is fabulous! She makes the sessions fun and you can tell she is very passionate about what she does. Everyone is so professional and works together as a teams. Once there was one miss communication with a scheduled private session. Within 15 minutes of emailing and calling the clinic, the owner Christine, had called me apologizing and had me rescheduled and given a complimentary session. The instructor had also texted me apologizing for the miscommunication. I have also worked with Julie and Kristen. Both are also amazing! Julie is super engaging and also motivating!! She is hands on providing constant feedback. I also love that there are group mat and equipment classes. Im so glad that I finally stopped into this studio! read more

I love Studio 8! Started going about 9 months ago because of how close it was to home - and have loved it ever since. I did a handful of private lessons, by myself and also with my mom, sister, husband - they are great for scheduling sessions with friends/family. I primarily go to group reformer classes and am a huge fan. Both Nadia and Gisela are great instructors - I have noticed more tone in my body and strength in areas I didn't used to have. The studio is very clean, great equipment and organized staff. If looking for a northside pilates studio - this is the one! read more

I found studio 8 while driving by on Lincoln Ave. I had done Pilates at other health clubs in the city and this studio is better. Christine, the owner, Erin and Nadia (the other instructors) really care about their members. During my first week, Christine contacted me to check how my first class went - very dedicated. Erin is amazing at training us on proper form. Nadia and Christine are awesome at private sessions and teaching jump board - the most fun class ever. Overall, I truly enjoy going to Pilates at this studio and am seeing good results in improved posture, form and tone. I highly recommend this studio as they truly care about high teaching high quality Pilates. I'm hooked! read more
