I'm still pretty baffled by my experience at this studio. I'd never been here before and I was so…read moreextremely excited to find a studio that offered Step aerobics. That excitement was extremely short lived. At one point during my visit there was a guy being trained on the Pilates reformer, the step class AND a separate strength training class in ONE TINY room with no separation. As you can see in the photo those in the step class are steps from the reformers. So distracting!!! The conversation and commentary from the other classes were louder than the music at most times and they weren't even loud...they were just 5 steps away and the music was being played on a small google home. If you don't have the space and equipment to offer your customers the experience they are paying for why offer the class?? If I hadn't paid money to take this class this experience would just have been comically bad but I did. So unacceptable and cheap!

She truly understands bio-mechanics and how the body and mind work together. After suffering with lower back pain for years, and 3 rounds of Physical therapy with no improvement I switched over to Pilates and the improvements have been amazing. Switching from what I call "normal" Pilates to Alyssa was a HUGE step up. My herniated disc has caused my glutes to not fire correctly in certain movements which exacerbates back pain. Working with Alyssa has really helped my brain to help fire the glutes properly. Look bottom line is, she is not your standard Pilates instructor. Alyssa goes way beyond that. She's like a master of understanding the body. If you're a serious athlete, suffer from some form of pain, or just simply want to improve you're bodies functions and feel stronger in a way no other workout can do, Evolve and Elevate is perfect for you.

I've been a client at Core Chicago Pilates since 2019 or so. This studio is one of the older…read morePilates studios in the city, and it makes perfect sense to me why/how it's stood the test of time. Their instructors are excellent. They all carry a 500hour comprehensive certification, while also being so friendly, kind, and helpful. I know group classes can be intimidating at first, but the instructors at Core really make everyone feel comfortable, seen, and safe. My favorite instructor here for the longest time has been April. She's so knowledgeable, sweet, and helpful, taking her classes are the best parts of my week. I've started branching out and taking other instructors' classes and honestly, I can't say enough great things about all of them. I also highly recommend trying all the different types of classes. Pilates is a system and we're supposed to use all the different apparatuses, don't be afraid to try them out! The studio itself has a cozy and inviting vibe. There are 2 floors, the ground level has 4 studio reformers, 5 exo chairs, a barrel, and a Cadillac. Upstairs has 5 allegro 2 reformers. They offer every kind of group class you could want from a Pilates studio, as well as private sessions, if you're looking for one on one learning. If you've been interested in starting Pilates, this would be the studio for you, it's been a haven for me. The studio is located in a neighborhood and there's always easy free parking, which is so convenient.

As a reformer modern Pilates instructor at Jetset, I was pleased to see some of the same moves used in this class that we use at Jetset. Alison clearly explained, each move and body positioning as as well as as offered modifications and amplifications. The music was great and I loved hearing Rihanna in class! The front desk was very helpful with answering any questions I had and ensuring I was ready for class. I would definitely take another class here the next time I'm in town!

The studio itself was nice and well laid out, with plenty of cubbies throughout to store your personal belongings. There were lots of machines in the class, but they were spaced out well, so you still had plenty of room around you and didn't feel cramped. I do this style of Pilates regularly at home, so I'm pretty familiar with the workouts. My only real criticism is the machines themselves. The quality didn't feel quite as nice as what I'm used to, but they still did the job, and I was able to get a good workout in. Overall, it was a great option while traveling, and I'd happily recommend it if you're looking for a Lagree-style workout in Chicago!
