I don't normally write reviews but felt that this one was warranted. I hate to write anything ill…read moreof others but I don't have really anything great to say about this studio.. which is AKA Studio 22. Our experience dancing here has been one full of high drama and unprofessionalism. As one of the teachers left the studio (which obviously happens now and then) the owner, MaryAnn, was super unprofessional in her manner of filling the teachers spot. There were distasteful emails sent out creating drama and negativity. So much so that my 13 year old refused to go back. She picked up on the vibe. Upon our decision to leave (and many others did too for the same resason) Maryann, again unprofessionally, sent emails and letters billing us for a $100 cancellation fee. I attempted to contact Maryann about the fee because I felt that I shouldn't have to pay it because it was her being difficult, unprofessional (fighting with a mother in the hallway), and negative that caused us to want to leave. She refused to accept my phone calls and wouldn't discuss the matter. Wouldn't even afford me the decency of a phone call before she sent the matter to collections within a 6 week period. I am not writing this because of the fee only. I did pay it because I signed my name to a contract and I upheld my side of the contract. Maryann, however, did not. She agreed to create an atmosphere where the girls could develop and enjoy dance. I didn't speak of any of the "drama" in front of my daughter. In fact, I didn't want to leave the studio because I had already paid for costumes. But my daughter didn't want to dance there and I didn't feel good about sending her to a place for 10 hours a week that left her feeling of the negativity. The teachers here were great- my daughter didn't complain of that. It was simply the owner.

Did not care for this studio at all. My daughter has been in dance many years, this studio is very…read morepoorly organized, the front desk staff is absolutely clueless to any questions, didn't know performance info, billing info, costume info, how to do hair etc. The focus mainly on their competition teams, which there are so many its confusing, and the other dancers are just not as important. The recitals are in the middle of the week, at 5pm, and working parents are supposed to have their dancer to the venue dressed with hair and make up done before then. Ridiculous. Also, two recitals with different dances and same costume was really lame. Especially when one of the groups 'costume' consisted of a too large tshirt, shorts, and men's tube socks. Oh, and they had to pay for that just like any others. The recital itself was PATHETIC! There was absolutely NO respect for the dancers onstage by the audience, people coming and going, cameras, screaming babies, teens cheering their friends on, and way too many dances that were just too similar. Especially with the amount of open air splits and 'crotch shots' as I overheard someone call them, was just kinda gross to watch after awhile. Picture day was a chaotic joke. Unorganized, way too hot, way to many dancers at the same time trying to get them done. What was supposed to take 15-30 mins took hours. Will not recommend this studio to anyone!

I could start off with saying this is an amazing studio but the 5 stars gives that away. If you're…read morereally interested in trying out this studio, let me tell you why this place is so amazing. I had recently moved to the area from California and didn't know anyone or of any activities to put my kids in (I have twins boy/girl and they had just turned 2). With us not knowing anyone, I wanted to get them involved in different things to find out what they enjoyed and hopefully find their "niche". My daughter started when she was 2 (just turned 2) and her very first day, my husband took her because I was at work still. The owner, Tammy, explained to my husband the nitty gritty of the studio and the option for her to compete at one competition as well as the end of year (they also do Christmas but she joined after). Of course like most husbands, they listen and retain the information but don't always do the best job of relaying the information and I'm the type of mom that has a lot of questions and is not afraid to ask. I figure the more I know the less chance to get frustrated/confused down the road...but again, that's me. Tammy was more than helpful-- I was blown away and have never forgotten that day. She talked about the competition at Lagoon and I had (obviously) never heard of that and had no idea where it was. She helped explain where it was, the distance, what it would be like -- and this was my daughter's first day at this studio -- and she was 2...TWO! My daughter was on the shy side so I really wanted her to interact with other kids her age besides her brother and this studio was a perfect fit -- so it didn't matter to me that we drive 30-40 minutes ONE WAY once a week. The following year, I signed my son up as well -- to be honest, I was less interested in him learning "dance" and more interested in him getting involved. While he wasn't shy -- he was shy when he was put in something out of his element. This year my twins had a teacher named Erin. To say that she is patient is the most understated compliment I could give her. While my son was not the fun-loving 3 year old that would run around class being silly - he didn't want to be there and he kicked and screamed (literally) and Erin just kept talking to him as if he was acting like the most obedient kid in the class. Tammy (the owner) was so amazing and told me that it would get better. Let me be clear -- it didn't make me sad or hurt me in any way that he was acting like that - he was embarrassing me a little because of his anger and uncooperative attitude. Let's fast forward...my son LOVES Erin still to this day. She never gave up on him and I think that created a very very special bond. She also has an amazing bond with my daughter. I cannot even describe what that feels like as a mother. Now, this year...they are 4. They have yet another amazing teacher, Nery, who pushes them to develop their skills more because they're getting older and they understand things a little more. She's fun with them but she is amazing at keeping them focused. As a parent, you want to know that your kids like who they are with when they are not with you. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience with that. So...so far owner (Tammy) = A+; Teachers = A+++. Oh, they also have cameras so you can watch your kids while in the waiting room...so you can see how your kid(s) are behaving even when you are not right there! If you are the type of parent who is just looking for a break from your kid for 45mins -1hr - this may not be the place for you. Now, if you want a break from your child AND want them to get SOMETHING out of this - whether it be social skills, learning dance skills or just learning to be a good human - THIS is an amazing place. If you have questions, ask!!!! If you have something that you're concerned about, talk to the staff. Never once has anyone not helped me (and I ask a lot of questions) and/or not been 100% pleasant to me. I've never met an owner so sincere about wanting constructive criticism to improve your experience in any way possible! Thanks KDC!!

Tammy does a great job running…read morethe place, my daughter's instruction has always been provided with patience, skill and care. It's been amazing to watch her improve and mature. Kickin'it ALWAYS does well in competition so there's a sense of pride having your kid dance here as opposed to other studios. Fees are reasonable and they offer multiple options depending on how much involvement your child wants with their programs. It's a big commitment in time, effort and expense if your kid wants to go down this path but it's no different than soccer, snowboarding or whatever else you decide to support your child in. I don't care for the beauty pageant feel of the competitions. It's a culture that I haven't been exposed to before but I suppose it boils down to different strokes for different folks. I'm just as different but in a drab and dowdy sort of way...
