Every teacher we have had for four years you can tell has been hand chosen by the owner, the teachers are the cream of the crop. They have the students work hard, learn important life lessons (working as a team, being respectful, self confidence, taking criticism well), pay very close attention to technique, and are extremely creative. The most beautiful thing about this studio is watching how the students who go there blossom. It is amazing to watch the kids from the preschool ages into the teenage ages. Where they become such talented dancers, but young adults that are wonderful role models (in their manner, dance, behavior, etc.) to the younger ones. The recital has always been a magical time for our family. It is very organized, children are kept safe, it is done in a professional venue, and my kids ADORE being a part of it. Know that you have to be organized yourself as a parent for your child do have just as a magical time as mine do. We love UDA!! You will make such a wonderful decision by having your child become a part of this UDA family.

The cheerleaders aren't there anymore, they moved to another location. But really the cheerleaders were sweet, talented, hardworking girls and their mothers were supportive parents just as any dance parents. They wear similar attire to dancers for practice. Maybe that other lady should sign her kids up for piano or art or something.

When my granddaughter started with Empower over 7 years ago, there was more of an empowering…read morefeeling in the studio. The dancers showed more support for their other teams. They stayed for awards and cheered for each of the teams that won! The last few years (not counting 2020) as soon as teams finish their routines they all leave. Very few people stay for awards. The atmosphere has changed and they build up the girls by telling them they deserve to be on a higher level team over and over again only to let them down when teams are decided. They make promises that the dancers will be moved to higher teams, even in text messages to the parents and then nothing comes of it. They no longer help to build the girls self esteem but continue to tear them down with broken promises and empty words. Some consider this a type of bullying which you need to think about if you're considering Empower as a studio you want your child learning at. They seem to spend most of their time developing higher-level teams and it appears that these teams attend a lot more competitions than other team levels. Every year at parents meetings they ask for parents to list what they want for their dancer and what competitions they want to attend. It doesn't matter what you put down because they don't even read it. When parents ask what else they can do to help their dancer improve they never seem to have a recommendation to help them grow. The name should be changed from Empower because they are far from empowering unless you are one of Misty's favorites or she's on friendly terms with the dance mom of the individual dancer. If your dancer is shorter than other girls in her age group instead of creating choreography that works with everyone's height they tell you you're too short and move you with other girls younger than you. Wonder how soon it will be before they say someone is too fat or too skinny or to ugly? Not a good atmosphere for young girls uncomfortable with themselves already.
