All of the trainers I've interacted have been nice however, I haven't had any sessions with them. I really like the equipment they have, a lot of variety and good quality stuff. The only thing I think they're lacking is a sled push area and a spot to do tire flips or sledge hammer hits on a tire. Other than that it's absolutely fantastic. The best thing by far is the hours. Being able to go whenever I want I really awesome. It's rarely busy and by busy I mean 2-4 people including myself in the whole gym. I've maybe waited once for a piece of equipment but that was more by choice because I didn't want to be rude and be too close to somebody. Overall it's a great place to workout and the atmosphere is solid.

I really need to spend more time here, but I at least try to make my commitment to attend the weekly Tuesday evening Pilates class. The instructor is great; she kicks my butt every time. And as a result, my core muscles have improved greatly from my lethargic sedentary lifestyle of a few years ago. I also occasionally use the media room treadmill and watch movies on the huge screen. And the hot tub, sauna and steam room are great for a sore bod. I still have the gut to prove my love of food and beer. But I can carry it with pride knowing that there are some stronger muscles underneath that will help me keep moving into my 60s. The only time I haven't been a member was when I was away at college. I even worked for skills for a year. It's my favorite gym in the world, but with the new ownership things have really gone downhill. When I used to work at skills we cleaned the bathrooms every shift. Now I'd be surprised if they are cleaned once a week. The bathrooms are absolutely nasty. And with the new ownership they've switched to a system where someone is only manning the front desk for a few hours a day, meaning no towel service, no help with memberships, no movies in the cinema room. The cinema room has been turned into the spin studio meaning no more working out while watching a film. The yoga studio was torn down and made into some weird stretching space. Buttons on machines are broken and will go for months without being fixed. And forget using the hot tub or sauna -- they are always broken. The class schedule used to be packed during the morning and evening, now there's only one class offered during the evenings most nights. And while everything has changed, prices have gone up a few bucks -- which isn't a big deal, but I paid for what skills used to be. I used to love skills. It was a great local gym with the best amenities, equipment, and classes around. But it's turned into a sad shell of its former self. I've cancelled my membership and switched gyms. I hope they can turn skills around before it's too late.

After a calm and respectful phone call with the owner, my membership was canceled on the spot and I was told I was no longer welcome -- without discussion or attempt at resolution. No matter how good the equipment is, a gym isn't worth it when leadership treats people this way. I was also contacted by the owner after a late-night workout and sent screenshots from the gym's security cameras of me training around 2 AM. I was told I was using equipment improperly, despite using my own attachments and not damaging or altering any equipment. This level of monitoring and the way it was handled felt excessive and added to the overall lack of professionalism and poor communication.

They have two instructors so far, and six reformers. The instructors know their stuff. One class I arrived at didn't start until about 10 minutes past the hour. The next class I arrived at, I was 4 minutes late when I checked in at the front desk. The person who checked me in didn't indicate any problem and didn't say anything to me about being late. I went back to the pilates area, and all six reformers were filled up. The instructor said that the policy of the gym was to give "stand-bys" the spot if a reservation is late. 5 minutes late???? So I went back to the front of the gym and discussed the situation with the employee, and asked him why he didn't tell me 6 people had already checked in; he said that the gym has a policy that if the class starts and not all reservations are there, any stand-by can take the spot. Different story from what the instructor gave. He said he didn't know that the instructor had given the spot away already. I did discuss the situation with the manager/owner, and she looked into it for me and resolved it satisfactorily. I think that as long as a business is looking to make the customer happy, and is always wanting to improve things, this should be what to look for when wanting a good experience. I would recommend this gym, based on my experience.

On my 3rd day at bodywise I was working out doing deadlifts trying not to drop the weight and I was approached by a latina trainer and was cussed out and called chubby. Needless to say I will never return. I can not believe that a gym would create that type of environment, and as I read the other reviews it looks like this trainer is not a new problem..
