Studio 52 fell flat of my expectations. It brings me no satisfaction to leave a poor review on a local business. I wish I had read this review before schedulling 3 separate appointments.
Short Hair, Texturized, Colored;
Cut and Color every 6 weeks.
So that me in a nutshell, other than I spend a fortune on my hair and expect high end products to go along with a high end price tag. I also expect at this price point for stylist to continue their education. I was so looking forward to this salon because it is not far from my home where I am used to driving to the better salons. Was just too good to be true.
If an option had been given to me to spend more for a quality product line like Kenra which Ironically they sell but do not use on their customers I would have paid it. Studio 52 uses a silver Kenra knock-off line out of Ohio that comes with no label and then they put their own label on the bottles. This is unacceptable.
I was extremely disappointed after my first visit but committed to giving their best short hair stylist time to know me and what I wanted... it wasn't fair to expect her to be on par with my previous salon in Indy. I ended up teaching her how to style with two separate products while I was there. On the second visit I returned and brought my own products because the Salon 52 label was pure junk.
I'm not rating the stylist and will not mention her name (she has left the salon) but the salon stated she was their best and if that is the case If you have short trendy hair and need someone skilled in texturing and a quality low and highlight, you must care enough about yourself to drive the distance to a more skilled group of stylists who offer their clients a better product line. (Msg me and I can share to superior salons for short hair and color in Indy.)
While at the Salon we froze in the back room, there is no temp control because the very large very old farm house windows either bake you from the sunlight or freeze you because there is no wind resistance. Their solution for the uncomfortably cool temperature was to seat me under a dryer while I waited.
I loved that there was Christian Music being played and that they were close to my home. but this does not make for a trendy high dollar salon.
I have canceled my 3rd appointment and will return to Indianapolis and to Senior Stylists who continue their education and treat their customers with High End products.
I am NOT hating on the owner because I called and left a message so they knew why someone who spends a fortune on their hair is not returning. Because I can wear a coat throughout the appointment, but when your products say cheap and unreliable it's hard to go up in opinion from there, AND THIS IS TOTALLY RESOLVABLE.
If you have never experienced true talent and quality products in your hair, 52 may please you just fine. But I encourage you if you have short hair go elsewhere.
*Notice all their reviews and photos have been with medium to long length hair. It takes greater skill to do short haircuts.
