I've been debating writing this review since yesterday. It's been 24 hours and I'm still so sad in what it concluded to and I feel as if I'd be doing a dis-service by not being honest, especially with how this turned out. (I will not be naming the stylist out of respect to her). I needed a simple*** wash and blow out for my engagement shoot yesterday and called as soon as they opened and was told they could fit me in which I was thankful for but now wish I saved my $45 + $10 tip on food instead. I'm not someone who's into hair much but when I was asked what I wanted, I first stated I wanted a 90s voluminous blow out with the ends slightly curled. As the process went on the curls on the end weren't showing much from the way it was being styled so my stylist suggested we do beachy wave curls for more movement since we were supposed to take our photos on the beach and I agreed to, because I trusted her and my goodness... The amount of hairspray used turned my hair into a helmet, there was no way of reviving all the creases and dents. I still have no words. Photos below will speak for themselves. Long story short, I've never had someone style my hair in such a poor fashion. We ended up having to actually CANCEL our shoot because of how horrendous my hair looked. Still beyond shocked and disappointed at how someone with 15 years of experience could have let me walk out in this manner. Too scared to give this place another shot but if you're willing try asking for a stylist named Michael. Only spoke briefly but he seemed genuinely kind and my only other regret is I wish I had the chance for him to do my hair. T_T read more

Came in for the first time today and saw Rachael. I called and she squeezed me in! Thank gosh because I came to her with a mess of a mop! I had some diy bangs going on and color/highlights that hadn't been touched in a year+ and long straggle-y ends!! I lost my hairstylist roughly a year ago due to a move and I've been scared to find another stylist since then but I am so glad I found Rachael! She evened up my diy bangs and integrated them into the cut and style and blended them nicely and my color looks FAB! Thank you Rachael so much! read more

I have been going to this salon for over ten years and am grateful to have found it! It came recommended to me by a close friend who is very picky about her hair. As it turns out, my first visit was with the owner, Jacki McCray. I instantly liked working with Jacki because she listened well, and she also had some suggestions which only enhanced the look of my hair and hairstyle. Thereafter, my high school sons started having their hair cut by Jacki. One of my sons has the thickest, curliest hair you've ever seen, so it was no small task to find a style that worked well for him. Jacki, having thick and curly hair herself, knew what to do! After all of these years, I have a pretty solid idea of who Jacki is, how she runs her salon, and how she cares for her clients. She is creative, hard working, and she knows her chemistry! I've had her change my hair color multiple times, and she was able to explain and execute colors that wouldn't damage existing colored hair. If ever Jacki isn't available, I highly recommend Spencer. We were visiting family in the Riverside, CA area after 6 weeks of traveling and my hair was a bit "shaggy" so I took to Yelp to check out Hair Salons near me. Checked out the reviews for Salon 4 near me, called and spoke to Spencer, who indicated he could get me in for a cut as soon as I could arrive there. Salon 4 was easy to locate ( less than a mile from where we were staying), was met by Spencer at the reception desk and after exchanging greetings, was escorted to his station. Spencer was very friendly, asked how I like my hair cut, how long it had been since it was cut last and if I used any hair product after washing and drying and set about cutting. During the hair cut, we bantered about where we were from and what we were doing in the area, exchanged other small talk and I could tell he was very detailed in getting the cut and style as I wanted it. After he finished the cut, he took me to the washing station, washed out the cut hair ( this doesn't always happen unless you ask), returned to his station, where he trimmed some additional hair, blew it dry, applied some nice hair product and combed it as I would. When I looked in the mirror, I was very pleased with the cut and style. Thank you Spencer for the great hair cut and very hospitable service. If I lived in the area, you would always get my business and will make it a point to return on future visits to the area if I'm in need of a great hair cut and you are still at Salon 4! read more

My wife finally got the nerve to get a shorter cut. She's been wanting it for over 5 years. Today was the day. She wanted a Lisa Rinna short shaggy look and after 2 hours and $130 she walked out in tears with a bob. She kept showing the girl the picture of what she wanted but the girl was all nervous and would only cut the ends of her hair. After showing the girl a picture of Lisa Rinna's hair for the 4th time the girl said "Well she's got it styled" My wife almost fell on the floor as she thought she was sitting in a salon WHERE YOU GET YOUR HAIR STYLED!!! Get this: she didn't even wash his hair after and just took a random black rag to wipe off the excess cut hair... When we got home he had hair all over him and even said this is the first time in his life that his hairdresser didn't wash his hair after... the work was so rushed and turned out not great. I adore Studio 4! So, I live in DC now but every time I come home to visit my family it's straight to Studio 4 for me. I can't even commit to a salon in the DC area because none compare to this place! Recently, I had my hair cut, highlighted and colored ($135).. they really listen to you and are knowledgeable about what would look good on any given person. I would recommend Jennifer. I've been to several people but she did the best job while holding a friendly conversation. Oh, and if you plan on paying by credit, make sure to mention that when you make your appointment. Okay, so I am about to blow up this review with nothing but LOVE LOVE LOVE for my stylist, Elly Ives!! She has been doing my hair for almost a year and I could not be happier with my change. She listens to what I say that I want, and gives input when she believes there might be a better way, but she is always willing to put my needs first. I love the cuts and color that she has done. She takes years off of me when she works on my hair. She is my little miracle worker!!! This girl has IT!!! OH!!! And she does amazing make up, as well as eyelash lifts!! Finding someone who knows how to cut short hair for younger women is a struggle but thank God for Elly at Studio 4! I have a skin condition I'm a little sensitive about but Elly identified it right away without me having to awkwardly explain it which put me at ease. I used to drive out from OC to Studio 4 just for Elly. She's the bomb. She's seen my hair through tons of different colors, lengths, and cuts (including the awkward growing-out-a-pixie phase) and she always kept it looking healthy and shiny. Although my stylist was nice and very friendly. I felt as though I was ripped off. I asked for a bayalage and showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted. I was quoted $200 which was expected because my hair is very long and thick but what I didn't expect was that my hair looked nothing like what I requested. I really saw no difference in my hair except for my highlights were brought up a little more but nothing drastic for the price I paid. I feel very disappointed because I was asked to come back in a week to get my hair redone in which I will be expecting to pay an additional price of over $100 dollars. This is very concerning to me because I feel as though if I am paying over $200 I should receive what I have asked for and if I don't and asked to come back I should not be additionally charged especially an additional $100 on top of what I had already paid Please note, no foil was utilized or heating lamps to help lighten my hair which many other stylists and salons use to help with the process. read more

when i get compliments on my hair i frequently get strange looks/responses when i tell my friends where i get my hair done... you go to california to get your hair done?!?!? *insert strange look* you know that there are plenty of great stylists here in seattle right? why yes... yes i do : ) i have known krislyn and have been getting my hair done by her for a long time now and frankly i can't go anywhere or to anyone else! i've tried... believe me i've tried... but it's just never quite right. how many of you can say that you can go to your hair stylist, sit in the chair and let her do her magic? As far as I can tell, this place is like a fancy SuperCuts. Booth rental-type salon where the quality is probably hit or miss. Sadly, for us, it was a miss. I took my boyfriend here for a cut after calling to make an appointment with "any stylist who works really well with curly hair." His stylist arrived just after we did (forgivable), got herself set up, and then talked to him about what kind of cut he wanted. I must admit, I was pretty confident as she went through the consultation... She looked at the pics I'd brought along, seemed to know what she was talking about, and assured us that she was great with curly hair. As she got started, my boyfriend and I started to take in more and more of the surroundings, and neither of us were impressed by the sheer lack of professionalism. We listened to these girls gossip and chat as if we weren't there, and the stylist across from us spent the whole time sitting in her chair texting. Don't get me wrong, I think a salon should have a fun, casual vibe, but this was really disappointing. The only thing more disappointing was how awful the haircut turned out followed by the fact that that particular stylist only accepted cash (which was not mentioned until *after* the haircut). read more
