Gel and shellac are very similar in regards to how they are applied. Exposure to UV light in both methods occurs. However, I read that shellac is a bit more gentle and easier to remove and not as damaging as gel. The biggest pitfall seems to be that shellac manis don't last as long as gels. Moving onto the actual place... They didn't have a black shimmer polish available, only plain black. This nail salon is in a plaza adjacent to the nearby Walmart. Ample, free parking. I'm not sure I will be returning because it wasn't relaxing hearing multiple children screaming & crying at dentist office next door. Also, twice during my approximately 45-minute walk-in session, a male employee came up to my nail tech and conversed with her for several minutes, disengaging her attention with the sharp cuticle trimmers she was using on me. Time 4 Nails…read more.. *sigh* Still time 4 me to find a nail salon I really love in Hobbs, America. Back on November 4, 2022, I was accepted as a walk-in at around 9:30AM. I was out 50 minutes later. My nail technician was engrossed in her phone at the very beginning. I suppose she thought I was going to take longer to choose my polish color. She did a good job trimming, filing, and the rest... she just really had an interest in her phone that morning. Numerous times during my session. One thing that was super funny... she was nice about it, but she had me wash my hands twice. Once after she finished sanding off my polish and filing, then after she massaged my hands with lotion. Lol. I've never had that happen before, but I appreciated it. It cost me $40 for gel removal and a new gel mani. Plastic was accepted. They use Square so if you're signed up for mobile texts there, you'll get your receipt texted to you. That's a bit steep. I didn't pay nearly that much when I lived in the Los Angeles area a few months ago nor did I get them reshaped. The huge stepback for me is their grimy facility. It's almost like an oilfield shop when you walk in - it's that dirty! Also, the parking lot is a bit crammed as there are other businesses in this small plaza.
