Hollywood Nail Spa came to my rescue recently when my gel polish desperately needed removing plus I wanted to try shellac for the first time. Gel and shellac are very similar in regards to how they are applied. Exposure to UV light in both methods occurs. However, I read that shellac is a bit more gentle and easier to remove and not as damaging as gel. The biggest pitfall seems to be that shellac manis don't last as long as gels. Moving onto the actual place... They didn't have a black shimmer polish available, only plain black. This nail salon is in a plaza adjacent to the nearby Walmart. Ample, free parking. I'm not sure I will be returning because it wasn't relaxing hearing multiple children screaming & crying at dentist office next door. Also, twice during my approximately 45-minute walk-in session, a male employee came up to my nail tech and conversed with her for several minutes, disengaging her attention with the sharp cuticle trimmers she was using on me. Since arriving in Hobbs, I've been to this nail salon about 4-5 times, for acrylics and fills (I usually get shellac). Each time, I am greeted warmly, usually by Kelly, and seen promptly. I have had issues once or twice about the paint job on my polish not covering the entire nail to my picky standards, buuut that really depends on who is doing your nails.. There are flat screen TVs on either wall, and complimentary water/soda, which I think is a really nice touch to their customer service. The only thing I am concerned about is their shellac removal process, which currently involves them filing the polish off with the nail drill. On a side note - my mother in law swears this place has THE BEST pedicures in town. Normally $50, pricey in my opinion, but I do believe there is a 20% your entire service promotion going on right now. Lastly - there seem to be a lot of "younger" clients who come in on the weekends. If you prefer a little more of a relaxing, calm atmosphere, come on a weekday in the later afternoon.. read more

Just passing through Hobbs for work and badly needed a fill on my acrylics. Little did I know I'd get a whole nail makeover! The man who did my nails took such care in reshaping and filing them to look worlds better than they did going in. I regret not getting a before picture so the difference could be shown. I wish this place was closer to home-I would totally be a regular! He was also very fun to talk to and offered my coworker and I water & chocolate. Very much worth the stop. read more

While the workers are very nice and the place was extremely busy. They did not use sterilized tools for my full set of nails. To pry off what was left of my old fake nails they used a nail tip and their finger nails. Had I not been in desperate need of a full set (having just moved across country with a 6 week grow out) I would have gotten up and left but I had an event the next day and wanted to look nice. I however do not wish to get a fungal infection and have nail beds compromised especially being diabetic, I won't be back. Apparently it's a very busy place with lots of repeat customers so I must be alone in my opinion. There was even a pedicure birthday party for about 12-15 little girls so it must be a hit in town. They have a very poor selection of nail polish - especially OPI and it appears that the specialize in the colored powder tips (sorry I do not know their trade name) and I fully believe that is so they can charge $55 a set. You can accomplish the same exactly look by getting the old school pink and white and having your tips colored with nail polish - I know I've had it done for a year in PA. $15 a crack - I believe she said the fill for mine would be $45. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is they are very nice and kept asking if I wanted water to drink - and other patrons as well. Rather cramped place in my opinion and they speak to each other constantly in their native language - that is a turn off for me. read more

I cold have done a better job myself. The nail polish is all over my cuticles. Very sloppily done. Not even at all. Unfortunately it is shellac and I can't go home and take it off immediately. By far the worst job I have ever gotten. Also this was the most expensive. I will not be going back. read more

Careful when ordering your selection. They like to secretly up-sale and up charge you. Pointed and stated my selection several times and they still did not perform the services correctly. Even after disputing the charges they refused to do anything about it. They also charged extra for a service that the other salons already include. I will not be back to this place. Disappointed because I was told decent reviews about the place from others. read more
