Best paint store around. Great quality paint and expert service. They fix screens and windows too. Very knowledgeable!

I entered the Flemington, NJ Sherwin Williams (SW) store seemingly unnoticed, reviewed some paint…read moresamples while listening to the staff discuss sports with another customer and share uncomplimentary comments of client experiences. I ordered a paint sample, paid and left to return with my husband to order 5 gallons of paint. Meaning to be complimentary, my husband commented on how quickly the paint was mixed, which response from employee/owner? was how his store was a real paint store with some 20 mixers not like a competitor store (which he named) that mixed their paint with an egg beater. Our contractor texted us his card so we could receive the contractor discount which we shared and the discount was applied. Then we were asked if we were in the store data base and when we responded we did had to go through a couple of possabiliities then we became very aware that we were being gleefully ridiculed, perhaps because of our ages and presumed lack of understanding technology. Finally we were found in their data base, not under stupid me, my name, but rather my husband's name (used yrs ago). Well, glad to be done and out of there we left and to the staffer's credit he did walk out to help load the car. Unfortunately, we needed two more gallons of paint and my husband returned to order a later day. What followed then was a refusal to accept the same contractor discount which I texted to my husband. I heard the rest and was disgusted by what followed. He showed them the card after I sent it on my phone. My husband asked why they were so happy to refuse the discount which was applied the week before and especially with the gleeful manner and the "well I guess we cant give it then. He was never angry or abusive. At this point, they told him he was abusive and to leave the store knowing we needed the paint to complete our project. When he tried to reason with them, he was kicked out and banned. With a wave and a grin - to the entire store "There's the door" - 2 times. The Mgr added in with more grinning and more laughter. Mgr " These are the people who refused to give me the name last time". (2 min delay and clarification). He asked who he could contact and they said to look it up. He was then banned from the store. Well we could go to another SW store 20 minutes away or to the local Lowes which had the SW paint/color we needed and where the staff is friendly and helpful and the store offers a Veteran discount. We will continue to support our neighborhood stores, including the helpful staff at the close by Benjamin Moore store. I've never written a review before, but challenged to do something, figured why not. The Flemington NJ SW store deserves a rating of minus zero, not for the paint product, but for the lack of customer service, unhelpful, disrespectful and aggressive attitude toward certain of their customers who can be discarded and mistreated. We have never seen this type of behavior before. This store will probably disregard this review with the same attitude we experienced - mindless mockery and contempt.

I don't believe that I have ever reviewed a paint store before. Restaurants are my thing, but I…read morejust had to respond to the other review about colors. I own a paint contracting business, and have nearly 40 years of experience in this field in NJ. During all those years, I've dealt with countless people in dozens of paint stores. I can say unequivocally that Hunterdon Paint is, by far, the best of the best! From stock availability to customer service, from store ambiance to product knowledge, they are unsurpassed. In fact, I routinely bypass other stores with the same product, sometimes cheaper, to shop here! Why? It's always better to do it once than to do it over! Now, regarding color, that is the hardest part of the project! I have a color consultant on staff, and she makes a world of difference to customers. The same is true of Helen, whom Hunterdon uses for color consulting. Talented, fun, and well worth the cost to get it right. Yes, Duncan is very good, knowledgeable and personable, but so are Bill and Jack, all highly professional and dedicated to helping the customer to not only get the right colors, but to get the whole project right. Their level of understanding and commitment to the customer is unparalleled in my experience, Period! I hope Rose returns and allows them to help with her project. She missed the mark on her review, as there is no better place to match paint, find colors, or start a project than Hunterdon Paint. This is just my humble (but totally accurate) opinion!

If you need help with choosing paint colors, I strongly recommend Duncan. He is patient and really…read moreknows his colors. When I went back to the store because I still was unsure of what to do and Duncan was not there, no one else really wanted to suggest anything. They seemed nice but obviously don't know their colors. They just offered me the in home consultation which would cost me $150. I understand thats standard but what if I don't like what she suggests and now I'm down more money. I wish Duncan was there when I went back, but now I'm hesitant to go back again. It's obvious all these men were looking at me and were trying to push the salesman I was talking to, to push the consultation on me. I felt that and left the store very upset!!!

I cannot say enough positive accolades for my experience at Benjamin Moore paint in Wayne. When I…read morewalked in I was given some space to acclimate myself to the store but when I was ready for help I was given excellent advice, attentive care and feel thrilled with the choices I made. Keep an eye out for one of the guys that works there named Joe. He really knows his stuff. (I bet everyone who works there knows their stuff) The crazy thing is that I went in with a color in mind and he actually seem to of read my mind and showed me that color before I asked for it. Out of all of the colors in the world! I didn't feel pressured one way or the other but I felt secure. When I mentioned a friends dining room that was painted a shiny lacquer remembered the actual color. The people who are painting my cabinets will come in to the shop and work with him to get the right Sheen and equipment. I feel very confident working with Benjamin Moore paint. In Wayne. I know that the parking is not as ideal as some of the other paint stores in the area but it's worth it. Give Benjamin Moore a shot you will be happy. It's also worth noting that they carry very fancy British paint that would need an expert to administer. Someday I will have the best looking glossy front doors. For now I will stick to my cabinets.

My 89 year old mom went to this store to make a small purchase and asked for assistance, which she…read morereceived and she left pleased with the purchase overall. When she brought it home, I saw the receipt and immediately noticed that it was sold at a price the was extraordinarily high. Like, REALLY high - even for Ben Moore. I went to verify my concern about what price point my mom was sold and a comparable item at HoPo was 1/4 the price. The price was especially high because she explained its use; to stain the wood legs on a new foot stool. Hardly a project that required a high end custom stain. When I went to the store the salesman was there and was open to discussing what happened for my mom that lead my mom to believe this high price was what was truly needed for her tiny project. The manager was present during the entire conversation with the employee and at one point jumped in and was immediately extremely assertive; exactly the opposite of the sales person. The manager was consistently denying any responsibility...even after his employee acknowledge he understood how it may have been confusing to my mom and apologized to me. All in front of the manager. Not the manager; he behaved in extreme opposition to the established sales philosophy of 'The customer is always right.' I am sure the store will object to my review for many reasons that are likely inaccurate...but if they do you will be best served to analyze if they are worthy of your business by looking at whatever retort they made but in the context of whether their rebuttal is still valid if the original sale was made as it should have been and supported by the employee as improper. There is no valid objection that could warrant this manager's behavior once the original error is consider as the cause...and all the negative treatment by the manager solely the effect which warrants this type of review. There are other options that are of equal quality and I would suggest looking into those options; I strongly advise to not shop at this particular Ben Moore if that is still your manufacturing preference. Other Ben Moore stores are also available for consideration. I hope this is useful to other shoppers.
