The class format included reviewing the previous weeks training, discussion and demonstrations of the new topic, in person practice and q&a on the new topic, and then homework assignments. Huck learned how to heel (without pulling), the commands sit, stay, and down completed the first time asked, come, watch me, and several games to play that reinforce the training. Before we enrolled Huck, he pulled us around the block but now he walks beside us even in crowds! Each week builds on the previous one so it was important to practice to reinforce what was learned. We put in a lot of work, but it was definitely worth it. This was the best investment of money and time into our dog! Highly recommend!

So this year, I supplied a harness, and a note asking them to use it, and even advised they could leave it on her if that was easier. I talked to 2 separate front desk attendents. They did not use it. I recieved a picture of her with a choke collar. I asked them then to please use the harness. The next picture had the harness on while STILL using the choke caller. Not sure what the point of that was. I also didn't get a picture for two of the days, even though I was on that plan. I am extremely disappointed. And had at least *some* hope of a better 2nd experience. We won't be back. Please reconsider if your dog is a barker, or puller.

We got the same story as others with, "Your dogs didn't eat very well for the first handful of…read moredays, but then they started eating normally", yet we left a 30lb bag of food for them, and came back with maybe 5lbs at most. Strange, I know. What really gave us a red flag, is when I asked to see thier facilities, and both women at the front (one skinny, one big) acted extremely timid to show us where our dogs had just spent the last 7 days. They refused to allow me to see the exact kennel that they were being held in claiming they couldn't "because a manager wasn't there", giving off an extremely uneasy vibe as I tried to do so as if they were blatantly hiding something. Maybe if they were more transparent in where our 15yr+ old senior animals were staying, we would return. It's the way they came off, deliberately trying to avoid showing us where our animals were kept that raises suspicion. No cots were visible from where they were allowing me to view either, just concrete floors, which I'm sure my elderly dogs had the pleasure of sleeping on for the duration of their stay. I truly wish there was a more reputable business that wasn't so secretive about how our animals are being kept. We won't be taking our dogs here again because of this.

After the private training sessions, we have seen an enormous difference in her behavior. She has calmed down, and listens to commands. She's not perfect yet, but we're getting there! You can tell the owners really care about dogs and they also have the knowledge to help owners and their dogs. I needed to learn some new skills to become a better leader, and it's helped. I was impressed with their knowledge and the willingness to help us. We have also used the boarding and the day care. Anyone with even basic grooming knowledge should know that shaving a double-coated breed like a Border Collie is harmful. Their coat protects them from heat, cold, and sun; once shaved, it may never grow back properly. This was not a small mistake--it was a clear sign of negligence and lack of training. Jack's coat may take months or even a full year to regrow, and it may never return to its original condition. The health and comfort of our dog were put at risk for no valid reason. We are demanding a full refund, a formal apology, and a clear explanation of how PetSmart will prevent this from happening to other pets. I would not recommend this grooming service to anyone.
