I have an ongoing injury and regular Sanctioned physical therapy is great, however they don't seem to address the root cause of my issues. Archie spends a lot of time talking to me about the way my body seems to have adapted to an office job in a very negative way. He talks to me about what I can do in between sessions and he addresses what I now believe is the actual root cause of issues in my body That are in different places then where the symptoms show themselves. A concrete example is that I have a cervical spine injury which can cause rather debilitating pain in my arms and neck. After addressing the symptoms (neck) Archie has spent a lot of time on what he thinks is the real issue which is my extremely tight hip flexor (root cause). He explains the different types of muscles in there and what he is actually working on. Every time that I have a flareup and I go to Archie I find that the next day is a step up improvement in my quality of life. So, this review is years overdue! I was just listening to electronic music and thought of Archie and how I had never written him a review (he likes this kind of music)! I went to Archie for a series of bodywork sessions a couple years ago, and I can't recommend him enough! I have had some chronic back and muscular tension issues over the years. His sessions don't just help you get rid of the pain and tension, but he also teaches you so much about your body, to help you combat and prevent the issues from reoccurring. I learned a lot about posture, how to do exercise, etc...he truly is passionate about helping people. Not to mention he's also just awesome company and I truly looked forward to seeing him at our appointments. I had some financial setbacks stop me from continuing to see him, and then I moved out of state...otherwise I would still go in for tune ups! Archie is WONDERful! Really. As far a structural integration goes- this guy knows his stuff. He has a way to "read" the body and see where alignment needs adjusting. His work is deep- but good, in a way that I explain to my clients as a "good squishing." He gives follow up exercises to hold the changes you worked on in your session with him. Archie is really great at what he does! For much of this year my right elbow has preferred to stay out of alignment; being right-handed and working a lot with my hands made the condition really uncomfortable and me really unhappy. Over several months I spent a small fortune with my chiropractor, hoping each time he adjusted it (which really sucked, in case you've never had your elbow adjusted) that it would stay in place, but it didn't. I finally kind of gave up, not knowing what else to do, until someone recommended I try a rolfer. After two (or three?) visits with Archie, my elbow is vastly improved and almost back to normal. I also have a knee that's acting up (which an orthopedist told me there is nothing wrong with) and several ribs that sometimes go out of alignment, so there are more appointments with Archie in my future. I've been having persistent lower back pain and thought it was due to my mattress. I came in wanting to learn more about structural integration but not necessarily thinking one session would relieve my pain. Lo and behold, after just one session, i woke up with no pain in my back! I appreciate Archie in that he didn't promise me that he was going to fix me or that I would need a certain number of sessions to feel better. I felt like the process was very intuitive and Archie was able to apply just the right pressure for what my body needed at that time to release tension. It was ok. To be honest he's got strong hands and knows how to give you a good stretch and massage but from I read on his reviews from fellow yelpers I expected much more like a overal holistic aproach and so went I went in he had me stand in front of him front side and back to review my stance he observed and then proceeded to give me a massage and a stretch and not much more.To which left me to wonder why did I pay so much for a regular massage and some advice on how not to stand or to possibly change my pillow. I've been a client of Archie's for about 2 years now. I had a lot of posture issues that were resolved with the structural integration work - in fact, I grew between 1/4-1/2" in the first year of my treatment. My session with Archie today was fantastic! I learned that I walk and stand with my knees hyper extended and walk more on my toes than my heals, along with other insightful information. I've been carefully walking around without extending my knees and being mindful my heels and it feels so much more fluid. I just tried walking like I am used to for a few seconds and pain instantly shot through my hips (ouch!) and I noticed how badly I am arching my back too. Wow! is all I can say. I'd had Hellerwork done in th past, but that was about 15 years ago now - (didn't realize it was so long ago), and my old practitioner had long since retired. Found Archie on Google, checked out the yelp reviews so I decided to try him. Okay, so I was taking a risk with rolfing but I'm so glad I did! I was diagnosed with hip labral tear and possible hip impingement in both hips. 6 months ago I was bed ridden and could not walk. I have seen progress with acupuncture, massage, chiro, swimming etc. but it wasn't till I saw Archie that I had a break-through! After seeing him, I was able to going from walking very slowly with some joint pain to walking quickly with no joint pain! I have chosen to heal non-surgically due to the lack of guarantee fix of surgery and I'm so glad I did now. I know I still have a few months+ of recovery time but it's about the same time even if you do get surgery (granted if successful)! So, I highly recommend Archie for chronic pain. Getting rid of those trigger points in key areas and fixing posture is absolutely key in relieving chronic pain (in addition to nutrition and rest)! I have tried everything to manage my chronic pain. I suffer from scoliosis, a cyst in my lower brain stem and a pinched nerve in my neck. I started seeing Archie 5 weeks ago and what a difference!
