Jim, if you read your Yelp reviews, I want to tell you why I have not been in to see you lately. I moved to Roseville, (22 miles NE of Sacramento) March 1, 2024. I'm enjoying my new home though I sometimes do miss Santa Rosa and visiting you. I just recently discovered a great local guy who, like you, has his own golf shop in a somewhat inconspicuous location. He repairs clubs excellently. He buys components from Monark to custom make reasonably priced sets. He also is an expert coach. I've taken 4 golf lessons from him. My game has noticeably improved with his advice. As I have family in Santa Rosa and Kenwood the next time my wife & I visit them I will try to stop in to see you. read more

I really wanted to like this place. But I honestly do NOT understand how this man has been in business for so long. Ive been there three times now, and every experience has been worse than the last. This most recent visit was unbelievable. First of all, the hours of operation are random and don't make sense as it is, but ON TOP of that, you can't even really be sure if the store will be open during those hours either. When I finally got lucky and found the place open, I was browsing the LARGE selection of used clubs, looking to spend a few hundred dollars on a driver and possibly a utility iron or hybrid. No exaggeration, I was looking around for no more than 5 to 7 minutes when the owner, having been standing at the counter watching my every move the entire time, said "Are you gonna buy something? Because I have things to do in the back". I laughed because I thought he was joking. This dude was dead serious. It took a moment to process because it was so blatantly offensive, but I realized that he was implying that he needed to supervise me while I was in the store, and that he was rushing me because he had more important things to do in the back of the store. I literally walked out without saying another word, and as I walked away I heard him lock the deadbolt behind me, even though according to the posted hours, the store was supposed to be open another 2 hours. SO DISRESPECTFUL it's almost laughable. Great job losing a sale of hundreds of dollars idiot. Now I have to pay triple over retail at golf mart or settle for clubs from 1980 at play it again. The golf stores in sonoma county are a joke. And so is the owner of this place. I STRONGly recommend going elsewhere for your golf equipment. read more

Don't be fooled by how small this place looks. He carries quality products and has re-gripped and fixed clubs for me many times most of the time I came back in an hour or so and everything was done, other times I just waited for him there you will like this guy give him your business. read more

Great golf store and service! I traveled with my golf clubs, only to find that despite a good bag and Extra Protection, my driver shaft had broken during Transit. I read the great reviews about Jim, and showed up at his store at 9 a.m., and he took care of me right away. He didn't have the exact shaft of my driver, but had a similar shaft which he gave me at a great price, which included not only the reshaft, but also transferring the grip from my old shaft to the new shaft. Jim's shop has a good selection of irons, drivers, putters, etc., all previously used and at a very good price. If you looking for another set of clubs, or just a particular iron, this is a great resource to find it. If you need your clubs regripped, reshafted, or are just not sure if a club can be fixed, this is the place to go. TLDR: great service, great prices, great golf resource! read more

Wonderful place to go if you want to start playing golf or if you are a seasoned pro. I came here by recommendation from a friend and was left very impressed. Jim gave me tips on which clubs would be suitable and affordable for beginners (like myself). My friend recommended this place for me to get starter set of golf clubs. I was not disappointed what so ever! Jim was amazing help. I explained to him that I was just getting started with golfing and he guided me to his great selection of used golf club sets. After swinging a few different sets I decided on a Top Flite set that included a driver, putter, two hybrids, and good set of irons. I took that set home for 170$ and it even included a bag. I've been out of the area for 15 years, but so glad to see these guys are still around. I bought a set of Hogan Edge irons there, graphite shafts, super reasonable price, probably 1993... I was returning to golf after a 10 year layoff, and played those irons for 5 years, after a quick turnaround shaft change, also performed by Strongs. I wish I still had that set of irons. read more

I opted to keep it local and came in here on Saturday to search for a deal on a set of irons. Kevin was very helpful and went out of his way to explain the differences of a few iron sets. He even made some suggestions tailored to my handicap and offered to modify the shaft length to fit my stance. SHOTTY WORK This guy does shotty work. He even admits it. You know why, because everybody is ignorant to good customer service and quality parts? i dont think so!!. THIS GUY IS A JERK. The only reason he is busy is because he is the only repair outfit in the area, besides a few old timers and a few courses. Customer service is POOR at best. Caught the owner in a lie twice in a five minute conversation. I asked him why he used less than good repair parts. he said "Most of the general public doesnt know the difference"...wow. This guy might know golf clubs, but admiting to a customer he less than integritable, AND OPENLY ADMITS IT is BAD Business. What is he really doing to your clubs? I spent alot of money on my clubs and wont be using those parts to repair them, and I dont make it a practice to do business with a man that thinks because you may not know the business as well as a he does, doesnt mean you cant tell the difference in BAD Business.
