I got the rare opportunity to play golf here as a guest. Caddies are mandatory which means we have to walk, but we had a few seniors in our group so we also got a couple of carts. I must say this is a gorgeous track with top notch facilities. The course if tough but fair. The greens are absolute perfection. Fairways are manicured. I think having mandatory caddies really help with the upkeep. Our group's caddies were Keith and Eric. Each caddy manages 2 bags. I suppose you can get a caddy for yourself, but I haven't played in months. This was just a chance to hangout with friends that I haven't seen so my game was below average. We played from the middle tees which is 6,156 yards with a 71.0/138 rating/slope. Pretty respectable for member's tees! After the round we enjoyed a nice Riesling wine accompanied with cheese and various small bites. I recommend sitting outdoor so you can take in the spectacular view. Their locker room is top notch complete with showers, steam room, toiletries and friendly staff to clean your shoes. Best decision! I joined as a Social member since I don't golf (my bad!). I enjoyed the tennis, spa, gym, member events and the facility. I hosted numerous business meetings and events there as well as friend & family meals. The Staff go out of their way to make everyone feel special and every need attended to. The members are very friendly and welcoming. The grounds and buildings are kept in impeccable condition. I would highly recommend this Club which has so much to offer for those who maybe like me aren't golfers. read more

As you would expect, this members-only golf resort restaurant is superb. Unfortunately, I am not a member, so I've only been four or five times over the last few years for holiday luncheons(this also means I don't have to foot the bill, tada!) Anyway, the service has always been consistently pleasant and the fare ranges from burgers to haute cuisine, with both the simple and complex dishes done perfectly. This facility really is as good as it gets...Private jet to Santa Rosa, picked-up by the awesome Mayacama staff and on the golf course in less than 30 minutes after landing. The food is incredible and I've never seen a better wine cellar. The golf course is always in perfect shape and it's a fun layout as well as a workout (no carts). Can't beat the practice facility nor their caddies. We each had our own individual caddy as well as a "beer caddy"...Can't wait until our next trip to this killer hideaway in the hills outside Sonoma. read more

After a relaxing round of golf (won 4 skins, got exercise and a good caddy, but pinched my shoulder nerve), ended up here for apres-round drinks and eats. As you would expect, they have a good wine list even in the grill. Bottle of Araujo Cab? It's here (took us about 3 years of begging to get onto that winery's mailing list). My host and I had a shot of Patron Platinum (not overpriced, either -- just $25/shot), and went our separate drinking ways. But the piece d' resistance was the Pizza. OMFG. If my girlfriend could make pizza like this, we'd never eat out. Hand-tossed prosciutto, with Mozzarella base, and big shavings of Parmesan cheese with sprinkles of truffle oil. We make a pizza like this, but we use a rolling pin, and we hadn't thought of combining the san danielle prosciutto with the truffle oil. Great place to get a bite, if you get an invite. BTW: Staff at this club rocks. Other country clubs have their staff be a little over-obsequious, but not so Mayacama. They treat you with respect and just the right amount of deference, but these guys get it right. They introduce themselves, and may throw out the occassional "Sir", but it's not overdone. read more

Better than advertised! My family and I felt lucky to have stayed at the property for 4 days. The grounds, rooms, staff, food, drinks, and golf were all amazing. It's really the little things that are done so well (cocktails are made by hand with top shell spirits, the caddies at the course take pride in helping you get the most out of your round, the staff has in general a family persona, etc). A truly amazing experience! Golf - A true test. Best manicured grounds I've ever played. Saw only 1 other group on the course. ProV1 range balls. Great Caddies! Food - Limited menu but very fresh. Note: The chef will make you something special if you ask. Cocktails - All I can say, have Mike make you the house Manhattan, we had 5. Wine list is amazing and the prices are too thanks to their Vinter program. Grounds - Amazing. Nearly 1500 sf fully stocked and very well appointed villas as their "basic" room. Amenities - Perfect for everyone. You're even given your own golf cart to drive around the property (just not on the course). Atmosphere - Relaxed. this place is impeccable. Spent an afternoon last weekend on the property and had dinner at the club restaurant. everything i saw was gorgeous. The women's dressing room and shower area is massive and fully stocked with luxury amenities and products. The seating is plush and comfortable and nothing was overlooked. The houses on the property seriously awe inspiring and have amazing valley and golf course views....i mean seriously stunning stuff. the food at the restaurant was so great - i had a delicious watercress and green onion soup with lemon cream as well as ahi tuna salad with seaweed, edamame, grapefruit and avocado. And the desserts...oooooohhhhhh nelly the desserts. The lemon cake with lemon poppyseed creme and blackberry sorbet literally changed my life. no joke. we also shared this chocolatey, ice creamey deliciousness but i can't think of what it was called! the whole place is just a dream...its gorgeous...the service is kind but not at all pretentious and the location even adds a bit of a rustic feeling...as there were deer and wild turkeys roaming the property! mayacama is truly a dream. perfect for a couples getaway, guys golf vacay or would also be soooo fun for a family to rent a house and chill in wine country for a week or long weekend. If you are lucky enough to come here, do it and be happy. Golf: Ultra Beautiful, but F*cking hard course. Grass is beautiful throughout, but the whole course is (for lack of a better word) lumpy. So practice on hitting off uneven surfaces. Food: Food at the club house is awesome. The prices are great too (i'm assuming because the membership fees compensate for it...). read more

Not sure how to review this place, not being an upper echelon member of society, other than that it's probably my favorite relaxing summer getaway. I learned how to golf here thanks to Chelsa (my favorite instructor!) and ordering the fish tacos after a nice day of golf always hits the spot. If you're fortunate enough to be able to attend, I would highly recommend doing so, and the bar really does the most, having a really nice selection of great liquor (I recommend the Glenlivet 21 with a couple rocks on it). Hopefully I'll be able to go back soon, as there are not many places I would rather be. And did I mention they use Pro V1s on the range? read more

Wonderful spot to "get away". The grounds are beautiful, the restaurant fantastic (try the pizza, it's amazing!!!), the spa wonderful.....If you get a chance to stay in one of the casitas, do!!!! The outdoor shower is great!! You'll see rabbits and deer and turkeys. The golf course, from what I hear and see, is the best. There are also tennis courts and a pool and hottub. They just put in a bocci ball court. Whatever you want, they can get you. The members are friendly and ready to have fun! read more

My girlfriend and I had a beautiful stay at Mayacama this past weekend! The facilities and faculty were both worth 5 stars each!! We did everything from tennis to hiking to biking to working out in the gym, all complimented with really tasty food and drinks. The fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had! My friend and I went for lunch and prenatal massages, and both were phenomenal! The fish tacos were amazing, as usual. But the massage was the star on this day! I have never had a prenatal massage so I was weary or whether or not it would be as satisfying as a regular massage. It could not have been better. This place is spectacular! We stayed in a casita and were able to enjoy the property for an entire week. Early morning runs around the property are idyllic, plenty of wildlife to see and gorgeous rolling hills to take in. No need to go hungry, the food here is incredible! Everything tasted so fresh, from the tacos to the salads. The pool area was calm and quiet, perfect for us, and a nice break from the typical crowds at other resorts. The spa was great, the perfect relaxation while my husband golfed. He raved about the course and got great exercise out there as well. They offer plenty else to do as well, from tennis to bocci ball, it's the perfect relaxing escape. The staff are amazing, friendly, helpful, and so nice! I was also thrilled to learn they offer the Foli app, and I was able to enjoy a few books during my stay. It's such a great offering, I wish more timbers resorts would get on board, but glad Mayacama is! Look forward to returning soon. read more

I was invited to this club and stayed a couple nights during a wine tasting weekend in Sonoma. I was very impressed! Mayacama does it all absolutely perfectly: - Idyllic location - I went on a 6 miles run around the club at 6:30am and got to see rabbits, a deer, and what looked like turkeys from afar. The club is in beautiful hills, shaded by low trees and has a Mediterranean feel to it (only cicada songs were missing to complete the picture!). - Cute casitas with all the amenities you would expect from a high end place. - Very friendly staff, discreet and efficient! - Superb golf course (I did not play but you can watch players from the club). - Tennis court, pool, jacuzzi and bocce ball court. - Incredible restaurant! I had eggs Benedict for breakfast with excellent coffee and fresh OJ; for lunch we had the best chicken wings I have ever eaten, excellent fish tacos and a superb burger with a bottle of Rose from Fritz Winery; and for dinner soft shell crab in a delicious tomato/dill sauce, bacon wrapped veal, raviolis, and a prosciutto pizza (it deserves its fame!) with a Sauvigon blanc from Joseph Phelps Vineyards and a Zinfandel from Armida Winery. Outstanding!!! Their wine selection is very impressive. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to talk to their sommelier (I am not an expert but it sure would have been interesting!) My friend showed us the members wine cellar and we got to open one of his bottles down in this refreshingly cool, smoothly lighted vaulted cellar, what a great time! My family and I are members of Mayacama. We enjoy the course, the people, the wine, and food that they provide. It's a wonderful environment to be in. It's a very elite country club and no other club can compete with them. The Spa is also very relaxing and provide great services. I was lucky enough to be invited to a lunch by a member. First, the approach and general ambiance reminded me of the Boulders in Arizona, in that it has "casitas," the course and the club house/ main buildings with a super natural and stunning approach, and just that wow quality that a real world class resort has. This is a real class act as they used to say. It is located in those gorgeous golden hills dotted with oaks in northern Santa Rosa. The restaurant was understated, elegant and from the outdoor patio where we sat had a spectacular view. The golf course is a bit below so while you see it from the patio, it is the natural landscape that really commands the vista. The margarita was refreshing and not overpoweringly sweet - it tasted like it was actually made from real lime and not a mix. The fish tacos were very simple but super fresh and presented beautifully. We also shared an appetizer of house made burrata which I just love, and theirs was creamy and delicious, served with thin, delicate toast. The service was friendly, relaxed but very professional. The whole thing made such a fantastic afternoon. I was super impressed and so glad to have gotten to spend time there. If you get the chance to go, don't pass it up! read more
