We always get take-out. A really good pizza, consistently good. Doesn't taste like every other franchised pizza, simply good. Crust is nice and chewy. I love supporting a local shop. People are friendly, even when they're slammed for time. The large pizza isn't quite big enough, but the extra large is ridiculous. They need something in between. Deep dish crust is just a whole lot of crust. I haven't had a lot of deep dish, so maybe this is authentic? I'm so glad to have discovered Strobelli's. Got tired of Mountain Mikes and Steves. We have been to this place before pizza is ok but the location is small. We went there tonight and it has totally turned us off. First they had some people there who were streaming from a laptop what looked like a pirated copy of some ufc fight on the on TV that to me is low rent and low class for an establishment, sort of akin to a pirated movie, Second we were never greeted or anything. We stood there wanting to get a pizza and it would have been a to go at this point and we were looked at like we were an intrusion. However there is a silver lining as we found a location called Dominick's NY pizza on Folsom blvd where Mel's is... Their website mislabeled their stuffed crust pizza, I thought it would be as described. You know, stuffed crust? Crust that is stuffed with.. I dunno, I guess cheese!? Abolutely love the pizza however the new service is horrible. We ordered our food, some wings and pizza and after 40 mins a lady finally came out and asked what we ordered and they forgot to put our order in. No one checked on us and even after we finally got our food we never saw another waitress. Looks like we will only be ordering for carry out from now on. read more

I would say def #1 in OV. they have quality ingredients, nice pizza oven that makes pick up times quicker, nice staff. If you order a large, the box is hard to fit in any normal car but it's delicious and feeds many for a party....and I was just craving some cheesecake and behold that's exactly what is on their dessert menu, gotta love this place. read more

Great little pizza joint. The pizza is delicious, but the real treat is the pizza balls (with ranch sauce). These make great appetizers with friends or a good meal with their house salad. The service is good and everyone is always very helpful. I've been here twice now and their pizza is bomb dot com! We ordered a chicken salad (huge portions) and thin crust combo pizza and it was loaded with toppings ...there were so much that the dough couldn't hold it all together. The pizza sauce is perfect and the veggies were fresh and crisp. I want to go back and try their deep dish pizza and other items on their menu. I would not recommend this place to anyone if you value good customer service and good pizza from a non-chain establishment. They used very low quantity and quality of products (i.e. meats, cheese, veggies, etc..) and charged me a high gourmet pizza price. I ordered the weekly special and was very disappointed with the entire pizza: #1) They used very low quantity of pepperoni, jalapeno's and pineapple on my pizza. #2) They hardly applied any red sauce nor cheese on my pizza. #3) The dough tasted like drive-in cardboard box pizza. I've been in Orangevale for a year abs a half now and keep hearing about strobellis! I finally tried it via delivery and the pizza was amazing. The cheese garlic bread was original, fresh and soft! Strobelli's has all the great things I loved about pizza places in New England here in CA (now if I could only get New England pricing). The pizzas are excellent, in particular the crust, my favourite being their BBQ chicken pizza. I am not a fan of pineapple on pizza but with this one it works so well. Their nightly beer specials are great, especially for Eye of the Hawk on Wednesday. A nice place for lunch too as it tends to be quieter and you can hear your friends speak without yelling. Weekends can be nutty for pick up so plan ahead ~45 minutes, otherwise their turn around time is 20 minutes, tops. read more

I think I have found a diamond in the rough. In my quest for respectable pizza locally, I stumbled across this little joint. I ordered me the combination pizza, but as a deep dish. Much to my surprise...it was AWESOME! I will definitely be back to this little dive again and HIGHLY recommend it to anybody in the area. Guaranteed NOT to disappoint. I am from CT. Me and my boyfriend love going to this place. its really good. and has great people and great friendly service. we have become regulars! I love all of their appetizers! especially the wings! they are spicy and crispy! soooo good. we are also a big fan of their white sauce pizzas! really like the fact that their sizes are bigger than most places and the price for them isn't bad either! fast service even on their busy nights. The first pizza place in CA that I have seen offer Feta Cheese on their ingredients list! I'm from the Midwest and this ingredient is of importance and I really struggled with calling a place "gourmet pizza" without this staple ingredient. This place is one of my favorite pizza places in town and I come back once every couple weeks. This little pizza place has a lot of great ingredients and a little hole in the wall kinda place. They have a small dining area inside and a few tables outside. Lots of misc pictures and articles on the walls, always something new to look at while you wait. The service... needs some help. Seriously - if the owner is reading this post, it's time to up your standards. Maybe training your staff on appropriate questions to ask clients like "Is there anything else you would like?" before walking away OR when we specifically ask for an "appetizer of chicken wings" and several minutes later order the pizza - that MAYBE the chicken would come before the pizza (because that's what an appetizer is, right?!) I got an excuse that "oh, we have to put the chicken through a second time, that's why it took so long" - which shows that it never occurred her to make adjustments in their pizza making in order to make chicken wings an appetizer. Call me picky but the basics in customer service are not applied. These are intelligent young people working, start training their brains to think of things the customer hasn't thought of yet. When I order chicken, you should automatically ask about dipping sauces etc - I shouldn't have to prompt you or try to catch you as you walk away with the first words out of my mouth. Two seconds of your time is worth a million reviews! Break it down for your staff so that it becomes part of their routine - don't leave it up to them to figure out all the appropriate questions because it's not their profits or reputation at stake here. That being said they are very nice. Unfortunately, I think this post was made mostly out of lack of serious customer service which took up the bulk of the review. There is some serious flavor here that was watered down by service. Next time, I hope my review will be filled with flavor and not nit-picky customer service comments. read more

In a word this place is fantastic. Number 1: everything on the menu is delicious. I recommend the deep dish pizza and buffalo wings. Number 2: the customer service at this joint is exceptional. Every time I've been there (about 4 times) the serving staff have been very friendly and prompt getting the food to the table. Number 3: they have 3 flat screens to use for watching sporting events.
