Had to add buying more to the growing RV needs list. The park was well maintained. The trailheads have limited parking. We drove around until we found one on trail 9. There are 14 or more trails and they seem to create a loop. We hiked 3 miles and called it a day. The trails sometimes needed better signage. I liked the vast amount of picnic areas. This park is well off the main steers creating a quiet place to enjoy. I mean, I heard speed boats during our hike, but that didn't spoil my solitude.

The Suburban definitely did not have four wheel drive. This was a good show because all of us Texans on our side of the river were hoot'n when they'd occasionally got stuck. Sigh... I Schedule a trip with Steve and put up a deposit for the date, it was for a Sunday. Every other guide I have been out with has always called me 2-3 days before the trip, I had to call Steve the night before the trip to find out what time to meet at the gas pumps as stated on his web site. Steve told me to be there at 7:15 AM. We arrived and I called him at 7:20 AM to ask where he was, I was told I will be there shortly. We go out to the first spot and he starts talking about the other "weekend warriors", "part time weekend guides" and how the fishing is going to be really tuff because of them. I expect a guide to have enough spots to fish so that the other boats don't bother you. Then he starts describing the other boats going buy and accused them of running the fish off because they were all "dick heads" and then all of them were "assholes". If I had been w/ my wife we would have stopped basically before we had started. But I was with all men on the trip and I wasn't bothered by the language, just really surprised by it. First guide I ever been with to have those manners. I asked if he knew another guide on the lake and he said yes he is an "asshole". He stated the other guide wouldn't fight him. Steve said because he would kick the other guides ass!! I was amazed a guide would speak about another guide in that manner. Oh and don't get his lines crossed and tangled Because that will be a "hundred dollars of fucking line ruined". The only good time was catching a few fish and getting off of his boat!!! My advice is that Steve learns how to control his mouth and anger when guiding a trip. Best of luck to you all.

Very little room for privacy, if any at all. The cabins facing the lake are a little farther apart, and appear to be the nicer cabins. I was considering this place till I saw the prices per night. Quite a bit more than the other place I'm considering. The two cabins in the pictures are really nice, and definitely my favorites. But price matters. We'll see!

It's very peaceful, not a party place, with great views of the water if you're in an RV. We have a travel trailer and couldn't be happier with the set ups, the dump station is nice to have on site as well for departure. We did not expect, and really love their automated outreach when you're there checking in to make sure everything is ok, you can even order firewood, ice, s'mores kits, etc for reasonable prices. We've never had an issue and will continue to book here for many years to come.

Had the weirdest experience there as first time visitors and we will not be going back. It's 7…read moredollars for people older than 7, so my family paid 21 dollars. Then as soon as we got to the parking lot we realized that it was very full and it sounded like there was a DJ or something there playing Latin pop music and Cumbias. We parked in the gravel parking lot and made sure to back in because we would not have been able to pullout to leave because of how many cars were cramped in. On the way down the path we saw that it was not an actual Dj but rather a party of people sitting under the trees with the large Dj speakers that stand on the tripod poles. We walked to the farthest place on the beach to get away from the loud party. On our way across the beach there were a few other groups with radios, but they were playing them at a much more respectable level only able to be heard for 10-15 ft or so. Once we picked out our spot the sand on the beach is great and it has a really nice slope so you can swim out pretty far before it gets deep. I did make my kids keep their water shoes on the whole time because we picked up over ten pieces of broken brown and green glass. We left around 7 after a lot of people had already left. The craziest part is what happened up in the changing area. They have around 5 portapotties out in the parking lot, then down on the grass, a water cleaning area with three spigots and two changing rooms that are just stalls on wood that you can change in, but you can see peoples feet from the outside. As I was walking up a young girl maybe 10-12 walked up already in dry jean shorts and a dry shirt she walked into the changing stall but didn't have anything with her. She looked confused but closed the door. I stood there waiting in line as the other one was taken. The young girl started URINATING on the floor in the changing stall! Like I just see her feet and a stream of Pee. Insane! Her parents were no where to be seen. They obviously told her to go up and use the restroom and didn't watch her. Either she didn't know the porta-potties were the toilets, or she didn't want to use them. It's really sad that the people there were acting so inappropriately because the beach is really nice. They should have a code of conduct or something, and ranger type people that are monitoring. There are two large dumpsters for trash in the parking lot, but there was still trash all over in the parking lot. As far as staff that we saw there was only the woman in the ticket booth and one worker in a cart probably picking up trash. My husband overheard the worker say that there was 800 people that came thru that day. With people paying 7 dollars a piece for next to no amenities they really need more staff.

Just finished our second trip we booked with Capt. Stephen... I really didn't think we would be…read moreable to top the success and fun we had with our first trip, I was wrong. The weather was cold and windy and thought it was going to be miserable. Fortunately we dressed appropriately and Capt. Stephen even provided us with some rain gear for an added level of warmth and protection. True to form, we arrived our first morning and Capt. Stephen had already been there for hours prepping to ensure we were ready to try and find some fish. Like the first trip he set off and strategically started working the lake.. Its amazing to watch how much effort he puts into trying to ensure you have the best experience. Both days that we fished we all limited out, stayed dry and warm and most importantly had a fantastic time. Working now to schedule our 3rd trip this upcoming spring with Capt. Stephen knowing that IF the fish are biting then without exception he will find them and teach us how to remove them from the lake and place them in the cooler.... Great guy, Great service......
