Marina Store - 4 stars Gas Docks - 5+ stars…read more Campground - 3 stars Lodging - 3 stars (tentative) Restaurant - 3 stars We ride a wave runner and we normally gas up before we get on the lake but, you know, sometimes it can't be helped and you have to go to the marina. This one is really, really nice. We went there once in July or August of this past summer. There was an attendant outside to point us to the platform for parking the jet ski for refueling and he actually handled the refueling itself. He was very friendly and told us about the courtesy docks (they have ample courtesy docks as well as separate transient docks and, no, I don't know what transient docks are). So, after refueling, we scooted over and tied up in a courtesy slip and walked up to the restaurant. The boat launch looks nice, pretty straight forward, and no one was launching. It didn't look busy at all. It looks like a 2 boat ramp, maybe a 3 boat if experts. I didn't notice where the trailer parking was. The camping sites (for RVs) looked nice, tree-lined, and had a good view of the lake. I don't remember seeing any tents, so this may be for RV camping only. One bonus, there is also a convenience store across the street nearby the camping and next door to the restaurant. That means you aren't tied to the marina store hours. The restaurant was okay. Nothing to write home about. I think we had hamburgers? Honestly, I don't remember the food too well, so that says a lot. But on the lake, it doesn't have to be great - just accessible and decent. The lodging is behind the restaurant and they are single wide trailers. While that may not sound great, it means that your parking is GREAT if you are hauling a trailer. We've found the trailer to be a real problem at other places. We haven't stayed here so I'll leave that to another reviewer but I don't see how you could have a good view of the lake from the trailers. You, however, have great access to everything you need for a great weekend.

I no longer hear all of the highway noise when trying to sleep and the owner does a great job keeping the community peaceful and maintained, which isn't easy to find with most long term parking. The spots are large, which is amazing for space and pets. The amenities and kind staff are definitely a step above what I've experienced and that makes it a comfortable place to stay!

Thank God we weren't staying there. Like Joseph B., I came to hike. I mistakenly assumed this whole area is flat, and that's what I told the 9 other people in my party. I should have looked at a few more links because almost immediately there were short but steep hills - about 10 in succession just for the first 5 miles. And that's about as far as we got before we turned back. We were exhausted, but it was worth it. Even the three marathon runners in our group said it was a good workout. Start at the W. Juniper Point trailhead, not Cedar Bayou Marina, or you will miss some of the better lake views from the trail. You can follow the trail markers to Lost Loop or cut through the Marina and continue on the Loop on the west side of the Marina. Start early because it gets pretty hot mid-day in March. I'm so excited to find good hikes in N. Texas.

It is showing signs of wear and tear for sure. I gave it only 3 stars because, frankly, it was so filthy we had to find a broom and raid and clean entrance while spraying all the wasp before we could even enter. Needs a great power wash for sure. If it were simply power washed on all outdoor spaces it would make a huge difference. Pros : great view, spacious, cold air unit, good water pressure, comfy beds, lots of good outdoor space, private ! Cons: filthy carpet, no toiletries, no kitchen ware, no paper goods, no dish soap, scant toilet paper, no trash bags, over priced, needs up keep to be special. No water access Advice: bring your own stuff. Housewares, toiletries etc.

At one point, he stopped at someone's site, parked, and started throwing rocks at the geese in the water!! If he had hit one, it could have been severely hurt or killed! This guy's time could have been better spent cleaning up all the broken glass and trash on the beach! We're very disappointed in this stay at Burns Run East
