I have been using Larry Sparks' guide service for perhaps 15 years. I knew I would be taking a chance scheduling a trip for the late summer months, but I wanted to give this trip as a birthday present. August is a hard month to go stripper fishing. Our guide (David) was friendly and worked so hard to find us fish, and find them he did. Not your typical drop your line and catch your limit; we actually had to fish. But we had a great time and came back to the dock with 99 fish, strippers and sand bass. I have never used anyone else on this lake nor will I.

Sure all the other guides were calling him for tips because they weren't getting bites. But! Mark made fishing fun and exciting for those of us that prefer to cast/reel and not so much with touching the fish. He kept all our poles well baited and in the water! We caught our limit and had a blast!

Four words: HIRE A FISHING GUIDE!…read more Epic day on Lake Texoma, catching plenty of Stripers! Our fishing guide, RANDY, put us on fish from the get go. He knows this lake, inside and out. We had originally called another company (that advertises obnoxiously here - couldn't escape their ads). When we called, they were all booked up for weeks. I decided to look on Google maps to find other guides nearby. So glad we did!!! "Adventure Texoma" (not to be confused with another place with a very similar name!) popped up. Mark answered the phone, had availability when we wanted to book, and said we'd be with Randy. Easy-peasy. We showed up with our $12 Lake Texoma fishing licenses (acquired in town), and Randy supplied everything thing we needed to fish! We had 6 poles in the water for the most part, and lost count of fish, but it's tied over a dozen a piece! My husband also caught a good sized catfish (our largest fish of the day)! I also caught a freshwater drum, and the largest striper of the day! We agreed to call it a draw. Decided to catch and release them all. Probably should have kept one of the bigger stripers. Nevertheless, what a fun and fulfilling day! We we comfortable, and Randy is an easy guy to talk to. Thanks for everything!

I fish a ton and got this as a gift from my wife and kids for Father's Day. Showed up and expected the normal charter experience! But got more than expected! Way more. CUSTOMER Service on his boat was top notch! As soon as we arrive he has already ready to go and excited as we were to be fishing. Great story's and conversation was never a dual moment... we caught a ton of fish a few smalls ones and then they got bigger and more frequent. I'm not sure how many we caught... sense there were so many. I would say 50-60 white bass and smallmouth bass etc. hook a couple of real fighters and two broke the line. We used the lighter tackle that for a fishermen made it even better! People we all don't experience the same trip on different days. But if you want to take a first timer fishing or me who has 73 rod and reals set ups for all types of fishing and you don't go with this guy you are missing out. What a great time and awesome fishing trip! Also tons of tackle options, new boat and CLEAN setup... the kind where you would like to take even your wife or mom on the boat ‍ GREAT GuIde services... like him so much we already getting office set up with him to go on an outing! Thanks for the memories Captain!

We booked the tour and my wife, my two young daughters and I had an EXCELLENT time. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations. I am not an experienced fisherman - neither is my wife nor daughters, yet Captain Zach made the experience fun for us all. We ALL caught fish and we ALL enjoyed our time out on the lake with Captain Zack. There was not much traffic on the lake since we went out on a Monday morning and we easily caught more than 50 bass between the four of us. We covered virtually every part of the lake while we were there. I highly recommend Lake Murray Fishing Charters! We look forward to sharing our experience with our family and friends.

The park itself is fairly small with several trail loops to explore. Go thru the gate and grab a pass from the main area where you may also park. They will give you a trail map as well as tell you a bit about the trails in terms of where to start, etc! They also had a really fun cooking class in the morning right on the lake. Super unexpected but awesome! Apparently they do lots of trail events often to check online to see what is going on. Bring your tent or RV and you can camp out right on the water. Cheap kayaks are available for rent as well. Since it is so hot you need to start early and/or bring plenty of hydration for your adventure. This was a great way for me to start my weekend and really set the tone for a serenity kind of Saturday! Go check out downtown Bonham for shopping and lunch right after. Rangers are always on duty and they truly take pride in this incredible park.

I don't know if it was because of the hot and humid weather (end of September) -- we'd set up camp at the end of a major shower -- or if that's just the norm but if you rent a campsite in the upper teens (16, 17, etc.) expect to see dozens if not hundreds of spiders on a regular basis. If you rent the lower number sites (12, 11, etc.), you won't see hardly any "wildlife." My group of 5 rented 2 sites (5 adults, 4 dogs, 3 cars, 2 nights, and 1 "oh Lawd, why" moment) so I had the pleasure of experiencing both extremes. Restrooms and showers are a short 3min walk from the camp sites and are very well maintained. My only complaint is there's very little airflow in the women's room so expect to sweat even while watering the pool. The campsites are even better. There's an outlet box to plug in all of your necessities and a water spigot. Picnic table and little hanging poles to dry your towels. Everything you need is right there. Our neighbors were quiet for the most part with the occasional "too loud after 10pm" moment and 1 neighbor who wouldn't answer his 4am alarm until it had gone off for a good 5min haha! Some activities include swimming in the lake, renting paddle boats, renting fishing gear, and hiking. We hiked the "Gnarly Root Trail" and boy the only thing gnarly about it was again, the spiders. The ground looked like it was moving and the path is 1-person wide so if you're with friends, don't expect to carry on a conversation. The trail markers were a bit confusing and we had to double back once to make the correct turn but it was a pretty decent and simple 1.5mi hike. My friends had a great experience with the paddle boat rentals and it wasn't until we were leaving that we realized we could've rented fishing gear, too (darn!). Other factors, there was a burn ban that weekend and we didn't realize it until the park manager told us (it was pouring rain when we arrived so we didn't see the sign). But he was super cool about it and let us extinguish it without penalty. That's another great thing: the park managers truly care and make sure everyone is having a great time and are safe. The evening of our check in, he stopped by and gave us the lowdown on how things work, some tips, and answered any questions we had. Overall, this is a great park and I'd definitely return for another camping trip when the weather cools off.
