Nice Short Hike And Nature Visit…read more Located in a residential neighborhood you park at the 90 degree curve in the road across from a house. There are signs... This is probably just under a mile each way to wiggle through the woods and down to the creek. Follow the water flow maybe 800' and you shall find the waterfall. Almost across from the trail that brings you to the creek is a little hill with a small trail that brings you to a good viewpoint on a rock ledge to see the falls from a better angle than straight down. I am not sure if a different trails brings you to the bottom of the fall, maybe rappelling down is the easier way... What are you waiting for? Take a hike!

Falling water falls trail is an out and back trail that has a trail head that can be found in a…read moresmall neighborhood with just a few parking spots at the trail entrance. This is marked by a small brown sign (in our case, on this day the sign was covered with trash). We came here on a day of outdoor adventures, coming from Prentice Cooper state forest, taking several "scenic" routes and finally finding a parking spot at the entrance. When we walked this trail, which truly is a 0.3 mile slightly downhill to flat trail, there was only one other family on this trail, making it pretty isolated, but also making the views all the more sweeter. Here's the thing...maybe it was the extreme and relentless heat this summer or the lack of rain, but as we continued to walk down the trail, neither of us could hear water! Sadly, we didn't hear any water because on this day, there was none. The falls were dry, being limited to a trickle. There are photos of the falls that look lovely. With this said, even if the falls were running at full capacity, you would be looking at them from the top of the falls, not head on. You would have to come at it from below to see that. If the falls were running, instantly this is a 5 star review for me. Because it was dry,i'm only giving it 4 stars, because it still was pretty to look at, and a nice walk overall. The address listed for Falling Water falls trail puts you right near the parking lot. I don't think this is a residential address, although there are homes directly across from the lot. I'd highly recommend coming here after it has rained a few times or at least one heavy time. I'll have to come back myself when it does!

A nice paved walking trail with other amenities. Sadly, not many places around here have sidewalks,…read moreso we rely on Cleveland Greenway as a safer option for walking away from the streets or brush. Creeks run alongside it, and people are seen fishing. We spotted some rock bass, creek chub, and green sunfish within the shallow waters. We've also spotted some garter snakes and a copperhead snake right to the side of the sidewalk, so BE AWARE, especially walking with pets or children. Parking areas and restrooms are dotted along the pathways. Bicycles are permitted, but watch for pedestrians. We attempted to ride our bikes on the Greenway, but it was too crowded with pedestrian traffic to be enjoyable. Dogs are also permitted but must remain on a leash. There is Greenway Park, located off Raider Drive, that offers a playground, restrooms, pavilion, event stage, open space, and public art. It's a nice place to rest. You can also reserve the pavilion and stage. It's advised to see Cleveland Greenway's website for reservation information.

This is such a lovely walking path. We started at The Nook park and walked to the duck pond…read morerefuge. There are is a dog park just after The Nook playground. Then another park for kids to play and there's a bathroom. Along the way you cross several cool bridges. There's many sitting spots that you can ponder or rest. Great photo opportunities for people looking to take school, engagement photos, etc. There's a creek that runs along the walk with lots of spots to cool off or take in the sights. The duck pond is fun and they have a duck and fish food vending machine for 25 ¢ for a handful of food. We saw a few people fishing catch & release from the pond. From the map, it's a 2 mile walk one way with an additional 1 mile path in the same direction that we did not walk. Easy hike with a well placed path the entire way. Handicap friendly. Great for jogging as well.

I occasionally afford myself the luxury of visiting places without really knowing what to expect…read more This park just wasn't that clear to me in its purpose, but it became more so after arrival, with a visitor center focused on Native American history and identifying this as a Cherokee Nation headquarters. A spread of recreated buildings outside offers opportunities for perusal. The most aesthetically distinctive site is a large spring of the sort that seem more common in Kentucky than Tennessee, which evinces a robust blue color and empties into a clear stream. The spring itself is off-limits, but the stream is open for wading. All of these sites are within sight of the initial entrance, but a trek uphill reveals picnic areas, an amphitheater, and a couple of mile trail through the woods. Between the different elements of the park, it was easy to spend a couple of hours there, and best of all, it's free, though the gift shop warrants examination.

Red Clay is not the type of state park that I would normally seek out. Why? It's not in the…read moremountains and the trails are tame. Nonetheless, something about it lured me in for a visit and I'm glad I ventured out here (on Indigenous People's Day coincidentally). Historically, it's really interesting that this was the last meeting site for the Cherokee tribe's council. The signs claim it is "where the Trail of Tears really began." I was really intrigued by the natural Spring called "the Blue Hole." I've never seen a spring that appears bright blue in a forest setting. Seeing this cool natural sight was pretty awesome. Also, I could just imagine the Cherokee using this spring water and being here hundreds of years before. Trail wise: Pretty flat and easy trails. It's not very challenging. But, it makes up for it because it's a calm place with beautiful forest. I loved walking around. Also, since this is small and off the beaten path, it's not crowded at all. Overall: highly recommended. Worth a visit!

I completed this hike on a blistering day in early July at around 9am-12pm in 95 degrees…read more I started at the Signal Point NPS Overlook Parking area and did the full round-trip hike which turned out to be around 7+ miles when I added the side quest to Rainbow falls in. The trail was much less crowded and trafficked than I expected, less maintained, and not well blazed. There were several downed trees, it was overgrown in some areas, and there were some splits that genuinely had no guide as to which was the trail and which wasn't. So, that was frustrating and I almost quit a few times and turned around. I'm glad I didn't. The Edward's Point overlook is stunning and the views of the Tennessee river are worth the effort. It was a much more challenging hike than expected and, I like to think I'm in decent shape as a runner and person who works out 5-7 times a week regularly. I was panting, my legs were burning, and some of the climbing and rock scrabbling was a bit tough. I would say, this hike isn't for a casual hiker - my husband would have never done it with me and been furious if I tried to take him on it. So, just know what you're getting into here. It ain't easy!

This was such a fun hike! The views were AMAZING and the only other people there were hikers like…read moreus (and a few strong fur babies!). It took a good chunk of our day and was several miles down and back. Springtime is beautiful to see flowers blooming, sun shining, and birds chirping. We were sore the next day but man my calves were feeling STRONG. Some spots were much steeper than others and I honestly wouldn't recommend bringing young kiddos on this trail. Great spots for photos and plenty of space to sit and enjoy the overlook with other hikers.

Get there and was greeted by Miss Jesse She is the perfect picture of southern hospitality and genuine southern charm, a real champ and blessing to have met. She let me ride her horse ~ "Faith" she was a sweetheart They have 7 horses to choose from based on your style of ride. The Farm Owner is so cool, just a perfect gentleman and loving guy ~ Harold, who came along for the ride and showed me his place. 175 acres of Tennessee's finest land tucked away in the back mountains with Black Angus grazing the land, oh and one special brown Jersey named "Amy" Breath taking views, 2 ponds with a really cool tree forest next to them. I got the blessing of having both Jess and Harold to guide me giving me the lay out of the land. Horses were great, beautiful animals because of course Jesse takes care of them like their her babies They do events there too - weddings, church services, family gatherings due to the beauty of the place. I recommend this place and will go back. There's nothing like being around folks who you feel like you've known for years - that's Jesse and Harold Lastly, the charge was $30 bucks for an hour which beats all of the rest big time and Jesse went over the time too on the trail ride.
