I had such a great time at Strikes & Bites! We arrived around 1:00 PM on Sunday and it was pretty quiet, but by the time I left around 6:00 PM, the place was jam-packed -- bowling, birthday parties, karaoke, darts... the whole vibe was lively and fun. The owner was incredibly personable. He was praying for people, greeting everyone, and genuinely listening to feedback. You don't see that everywhere, and it added such a warm, community feel to the experience. The bowling lanes were clean and operated smoothly the entire time. And we're definitely coming back for karaoke -- the DJ was a lot of fun and kept the energy high. Overall, Strikes & Bites is a whole vibe. I'll be back! read more

The food was good! The drinks were delicious! I believe bartender name was key. She made sure I came back for more. Kids had a ball. Staff were all smiling and easy to talk to. No bad moods! Playlist was on point.. fire!! They have a pretty good setup. Definitely looking forward to going back with and without the kids. read more

My family and I had a ball. It was a great experience, friendly and fast service. The music was amazing. A time was had!

We bought the big party pass and waited an hour and a half out of our two for our food and drinks that was the problem and they worked with us for the most part. Took my daughter here on a Thursday, we did not know they are not open on Thurs during the summer. We also have never been here before. Must of been the owner who came outside as I was driving away, who said what the heck come on in anyways. Who does that? We were very pleased. Bowled 2 games for 11 bucks, how can you beat that? This place is a real hidden treasure that provides so much nostalgia of bowling as a child during the 1980s. You would think it has a classic theme, with over the lane ball returns, diner style restaurant, and blue screen CRT monitors with the "clip art" turkey when you roll 3 strikes in a row! But this is not a theme, it is genuine. The equipment was around since the 1960s, 70s, and 80s and have been maintained so well that they are functioning like new even in 2019! These are antiques these days and it's like seeing a glimpse into the past. I can't imagine how even the CRTs can still work, but the family owners can repair all their own equipment, solder the circuit boards of the monitors and buy antique parts for all the lanes. The snack bar is also one of my favorites. They have a grill, they have hamburgers, italian sausage sandwiches, pizza, cheese sticks, nachos and cheese, and Swanel cola which has a unique taste that is so much better than any other soft drink I've had. Even the prices have remained consistent, showing how much they value the customers. We need to respect family owned businesses like Lan Oak Lanes and support these because you really can't find places like this much anymore. read more

I just absolutely love this place! Lan Oak Lanes is a family friendly bowling alley. It is entirely run by a family, which is rare these days. Not only is is a family run local business, but it has been in the same family for over 3 generations! The whole region used to be filled with bowling alleys like this, but each year another one disappears. I am so grateful Lan Oak Lanes still preserves our local bowling culture. I am in love with the retro feel with those Brunswick A-1 automatic pin setters and the orange over the lane ball returns plus Brunswick 2000 computers for automatic scoring! Its like a small window into the history of bowling since the mid twentieth century. I really enjoy bowling on these lanes. The prices cannot be beat! Lan Oak Lanes is an affordable night out with the family. I would come here for open bowling quite often, but I enjoy being on a league team. I was taught on Saturday morning children league, and it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon as a child. The best time I had here as an adult was joining the summer league. I got to meet and bowl with other people from the area, and at the end of the league, we all went to a White Sox Game! read more

Went here for the first time on a Saturday night around 7pm and there were only a few lanes in use. Found it to be very clean and the help was hospitable. My wife and I quickly got the place to ourselves as apparently there was a normal lull in the evening and it being memorial day weekend. The gentleman who checked out our shoes, opened our lane and poured us a pitcher of amber bock saw an opportunity to make us happy so he turned on the black lights and other 70s era bowling accoutrements and we had a blast. Great time all around. I'd give it a 5 star since our luck might change next time. read more
