Better than a massage with longer more sustainable benefits. Excellent staff and vibe.

I can't say enough good things about this studio! Pure barre is a great workout that gets my heart…read morerate up and body toned. I've been coming to this studio for more than 2 years, and still feel the burn every class! PB Indy offers a mix of classes from classic barre to intensives, and stretching. In addition to the great workouts, studio owner Lizzy and the entire pure barre team go above and beyond to create a welcoming, encouraging, and fun community! When you walk in the door you're greeted with warm smiles. There's always a fun show of support for other local businesses... be it supporting a new bagel shop for National Bagel Day, encouraging healthy eating by showcasing a local meal prep service, or fostering your green thumb in partnership with a local plant shop, PB Indy is all about showing the love!

Well, what I couldn't see in the videos was how much shaking and burning these folks were experiencing. Barre workouts are REAL. You'll learn how to do these micromovements that will tone your muscles efficiently. But pay attention to your instructors. You want to make sure you get the forms right so that you don't hurt yourself and so that you're getting all the benefits. The folks at Pure Barre are very friendly and encouraging, and the facility is brightly lit with natural light and very clean. You can purchase classes one at a time, or in packages. And if you're up for it, you can go all in for their unlimited package.

I decided I wanted to get my flexibility back as a bodybuilder and what better time than now. I do…read moreyoga at home on YouTube but it's very different when you have people there to inspire you. I picked the candle hot yoga at 8pm because I wanted a soft feel but when I tell you this stretched me out I had such a great night sleep. I burned 362 calories in an hour. Make sure to bring a mat, towel, and water. They have available mats and towels for you to use. Such a great experience and the staff! Every single people are helpful, so sweet, and offered instructions, showed where everything my was and made me feel apart of the family. If you haven't tried hot yoga this location is a great place to start.

Hot Room, Cold Welcome-…read more I was invited (key word) to a Pilates class here at the last minute. I live close by, so I figured, why not give it a whirl? I roll up at a rebellious 7:36 PM, since class started at 7:30, only to find the door locked up like they were hiding national secrets inside. Two women behind the counter looked at each other, then at me, like I was a raccoon trying to break into their trash cans. One slowly came over, cracked the door open just enough so that her body had enough room, she stood at the door and said, "For safety reasons, we can't let anyone in after 5 minutes." Mind you there is an entire lobby and boutique that I could have been invited into. I blinked. "Safety reasons?" She explained it was because of "the weights." Ma'am, it's Pilates, not a WWE SmackDown. If a stray 3-pound dumbbell is all that stands between me and bodily harm, maybe you should consider issuing helmets. I mentioned it was my first time. She gave me a pity "awww" and told me to come back Saturday. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town, but even if I wasn't, I wouldn't return. They treated me like a Jehovah's Witness at a front door: cracked entrance, fake smile, no eye contact. Girl, I'm not here to sell salvation. I just want to stretch. Also, tiny detail, but I'm 98 percent sure it's illegal to deadbolt the door of an open establishment. If the hot room gets a little too hot and catches fire, how exactly are the Pilates faithful escaping? Through interpretive dance? If they had simply welcomed me in, explained their policies like normal humans, and offered to help me reschedule, I'd probably be writing a very different review. Instead, I got passive aggressive doorkeeper energy. As someone who is literally a news personality, it took everything in me not to blast them on social media. But I try to wield my sword wisely. So here we are. On Yelp.

First off it's 24 hrs, which is awesome if you have a wonky work schedule or don't want to feel pressured to go to a packed class at 5:30pm. The space is great and the equipment is all up to date and clean. I also find there is a great balance between a group setting and working out alone since there are coach led classes and virtual in studio classes. You can show up to a class, become a regular, and make friends or you can go at less popular times like 8pm on a Saturday night in July and workout with just a few people. Very welcoming and it seems to hit all workout levels. The heart rate monitors are also able to connect to separate app and I use mine with my peloton. Definitely recommend going to at least a few classes! It usually only takes one though.

The workouts are challenging, and they rotate through Cardio, Agility and Strength and each week levels up. You workout while wearing a heart rate monitor and can see your heart rate on the screens. The cardio is done on bikes and rowers, and the resistance workout is split into traditional and functional. The traditional side has their version of dumbbells - nubells, and the functional side has racks with sandbags, TRX, and there's always some great challenging bodyweight movements mixed in there. A secret bonus of Eat the Frog...they have classes ALL THE TIME 24/7 ... so yeah everyone wants to go with the encouraging helpful instructors, but what if you're free at 2pm or 9pm or 4am...you can go! All members get a key fob and the virtual workouts play on the screen all day long! Each day includes virtual workouts for all types Cardio, Agility and Strength so you can snag whichever workout you want every day! There are always other challenges, programs and incentives going on. Plus, Marla really does a great job at creating a community. This gym looks similar to other corporate small group fitness places, but she gets to know her clients, reminds them of programs, and also benefits of the gym/program that might go unused! Pricing is competitive with other similar gyms, but I have tried a few others and I feel like I'm getting more value for my money here! They have a body scan scale you can get a membership that includes or buy a la carte to get a more accurate muscle, fat, water % with your weigh ins.
