Prepaid but unable to reach staff despite calls, emails, and instagram messages since July 25. It's a great concept but horribly managed.

I was visiting a relative in town and was just looking for a place to run and work out in that wasn't outdoors in 90+-degree weather. (We Southern Californians are weather wimps.) It was so nice and cool - which is not true of all DC-area gyms. It was also clean and felt very safe for my first indoors post-pandemic workout. Best of all, the people that worked there were super helpful while being low-key. And it wasn't crowded both times I went, with the customers also seeming to be pretty low-key while being focused on their workout. (No grunting loudly every single rep and slamming weights down at the end of the set, which, any pro will tell you, honestly means you need to take the weights down a bit until you can control them.) I just wish I could transport Energy Club to Southern California. But if you live in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out.

The equipment variety is endless, giving you a ton of creativity with workouts so you never get bored. The facility is clean and very well maintained. I began training with Bruce in August of 2012. My first year with him was a great experience. I…read morehad fantastic results, I really enjoyed Bruce as a person and a friend. He was encouraging, conscientious with his training and a great resource. However, at some point after that first year things started shifting. In addition to one on one training, I'd also participated in small group training sessions and a boot camp he ran. Bruce would occasionally be late to the group sessions, or cancel at the last minute. He'd sometimes contact me and try to change my session time, and I began to feel like he was taking advantage of my proximity to his gym and my flexibility schedule-wise. 2014 marked a drastic change in my feelings about Banner Lifestyle. The scheduling inconsistencies persisted, and I could never get the same schedule every week. I'd often wait until late Sunday or even Monday to get the weekly schedule, so I could never make any solid plans in advance because I had no idea when Bruce would finally get the schedule out. It was incredibly frustrating, but I tolerated it because he is actually a good trainer. In March I had to take a week off for personal reasons, so I contacted Bruce to let him know. It was mid-week and I'd still not gotten a schedule yet, anyway. That weekend I let him know I was able to resume training that week, but I again did not receive a schedule. The same thing happened the following week, and ultimately I became very frustrated. At this point I have 16 remaining sessions that are paid for. I contacted Bruce to ask about selling the sessions since he couldn't be bothered to get me on the schedule anymore. He responded and apologized and said it wasn't fair to me, but that he had too many clients and didn't have time. He suggested a sale price for the sessions which was drastically lower than what he actually charges for sessions. I went with my own pricing based on what he'd previously sold others' sessions for, but he told me no one was interested. I eventually dropped my asking price down to his recommended price, just wanting to be done with Banner Lifestyle. I just wanted to recoup at least a portion of my money for the 16 sessions I'd bought, but had never been able to schedule. I liked Bruce as a person for a long time, and he is a good personal trainer. He is not, however, good at running a business. He is too unreliable with scheduling, he does not follow up with clients who have any concerns or criticisms, and when confronted about these things, he goes radio silent. I am hugely disappointed in how this business relationship has turned out, as Bruce definitely has the talent to train well. Unfortunately, it seems that he just doesn't have the professionalism needed to sustain a business with clients that extends beyond his own select, personal group of friends that are willing to participate in every event and package he offers. I believe I got swept to the side because I was just a regular client not buying into all the extras anymore, and therefore I was not a priority. I'm leaving Banner Lifestyle with 16 unused personal training sessions and a trail of unanswered texts and emails, with an email from Bruce acknowledging his failings with me personally holding no weight in getting this resolved to any degree. I would caution anyone considering engaging his professional services to read my review carefully and be aware of what you're getting yourself into. Being a good trainer isn't just about the personal training, it's about establishing a professional, reliable relationship with your clients. Unfortunately, Bruce no longer seems to be interested in this aspect of his business, and I am subsequently no longer interested in being his client.

Don't need to say much because everything Jaime, Latisha, and Min K. are exactly how I feel and…read morewhat I've experienced. From the scheduling, his "deals", and my missing refund, I would never recommend Bruce. Sad because he has potential to be a great trainer, he just has poor business acumen. If you are maybe one of his elite clients or someone who he can use for advertising, you may be better off but if not, be prepared to fall by the wayside and ignored in favor of those he can show off on his Instagram. In my opinion, Banner Lifestyle this business is more of way for him to show off, not to sincerely help those in need. Looking forward to filing this complaint with Better Business Bureau.

The coaches are so positive and motivating, as well as thorough in their pre workout demonstrations and make those small corrections in our movements that make all the difference in our results and the burnnn! They coaches have a built a solid community within the gym which can't be understated. The HIIT circuits are setup so nicely, flowing through about 10 different stations and leaving the whole body worked by the end of the class. These classes are pretty solid for building muscle but you're not going to get huge or insanely strong with this style of workout. This will be more for toning muscle/athletic build as well as gaining functionality and work capacity. It's nice that it's all based on time rather than numbers so everybody can go at their own pace. However, if you really want to push yourself as hard as possible, then I'd say this targets the heart and lungs more than anything, and health is what it's really all about. This is even true in the resistance classes, which you always leave with a serious pump. The weights you're using aren't as heavy as CrossFit which mostly allows for you to push yourself in a safer and higher paced manner and there's more variance in exercises and movements than Orange Theory without the concern of running injuries so while all of the big name HIIT enterprises have some advantages, I believe F45 is the best because it has the most well-rounded diverse stimulus mentally and physically and therefore has the most potentially for truly being "in-shape", healthy, functional, and athletic because you're more motivated to consistently train hard and allowed to do so while staying injury free. If I have to knock it I'd say that some of the exercises are more body building oriented (fly's and curls) than I'd like, but most are performance based. I will also admit, if this were my only training then I'd definitely like to have heavier weights on resistance days because those end up mostly being muscle endurance for me (which is more important than raw strength if I'm forced to choose). I'd also appreciate a little more sprinting but I know that greatly increases the injury risk so I understand the omission there. Also if there was more space, I would love to incorporate something more explosive like med ball throws. All in all though, considering the energy in there, the results you'll get from start to finish only sacrificing 45 minutes to make the rest of your day better, this place is great!

Oh what do I say about EYD and Erin…read more... Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE beer. I also love yoga. So when I'm able to combine the two, well, it's pretty awesome for me. I had followed EYD's Facebook page for a while, but was never able to make it to a class. Finally the stars aligned (all 5 of them) and I took my very 1st EYD class at Fair Winds. Not to lay on the puns, but I was hooked (line and sinker). Since then I've been to Erin's classes at Sehkraft (RIP), Mister Days, Tysons Biergarten (RIP?), Courthaus Social, New District, and even DC Brau when she covered for another teacher. Erin's classes are truly all level. Some instructors will say they are, but then never give you variations on certain positions or chide you for sticking to your particular practice. Erin is not one of those teachers. She has this innate ability to make you feel comfortable and welcome. But my favorite thing about her classes is the cheese factor. She makes jokes and silly comments...example at the Spookasana class (that's Halloween themed yoga) the position known as "cat/cow" became "Screeching cat/Howling werewolf". IT IS ok not to take yourself too seriously sometimes. I personally believe that true balance is equal parts focus and cheese. I recommend EYD's classes to everyone. And hey, if you end up trying one out and see me there be sure to say hi! As Erin always says, "Namaste and cheers!"

Amy & her husband, my coaches were a surprise Amber and Meredith-Grace!!. They even surprised us with a feature of a martial arts/self defense instructor! and he showed us some moves!!.... That workout was tough!!! I'm STILL sore even with only doing 3 sets each of different activities! I did the 18lb kettlebells & other things whole body felt like noodles!! But well worth it!!!... I loved that it was simple challenging they had army training guys on hand and my spotter was a 70 year old cool diabetic who taught me things I could pass on to my LOOOVE so it was a fantastic place and day!! I hope there's more classes because blind/vision impaired ppl are ppl too we just need a little more time and patience to navigate the world. I majorly LOOOVEd that everyone treated us as if we were just normal ppl coming to workout and we could see everything!! & the spotters were there just so we wouldn't hurt ourselves since it's our first go!!!

I've been coming for about 8 months now since their elementals class which gives you the basics on form, what to expect in the classes, etc. These were fantastic and I highly recommend to familiarize yourself to a CrossFit workout. Now I'm addicted and come about 2-3 times a week along with other workouts I do. In just 8 months, I feel like I've made so much more progress than in any other fitness routine I've done. I'm strong, toned, and I have never been injured here.. just a few bruises and sore muscles. Oh but it hurts so good, because I really see and feel the difference. In just one hour, you'll have the best workout of your life every time. The coaches here are really amazing and make sure they watch your form and make modifications so you don't get hurt, but truly you have to understand your limits and ask questions when needed. I'm amazed that my torn knee and back have not bothered me at all anymore now that I've strengthened the main and accessory muscles. I feel so strong!!! Thanks for making me feel like such a badass!!!
