ZoMo Yoga is the greatest thing that came to the area. I first went to a workshop before classes…read moreofficially started. It kicked my butt. I could barely move.. I didn't want to come back.... It opened at the perfect time as I was in between yoga studios trying to find one to call my home. I decided to try the new student introductory offer. I figured it would get me to come back more than once. It worked, even though it kicked my butt. I came almost every day this past month. Sometimes two or three classes a day. I fell in love with yoga and the trapeze! The trapeze is so much more accessible than mat yoga, being able to go into deeper inversions and building more strength faster. Within days I've been noticing huge changes in my body that I was never able to achieve with a gym membership. Gravity yoga is all about trusting the trapeze and in doing so, you begin trusting you're own body. Since starting I have more confidence and trust in my body as I've ever had before from any yoga class. I've found a passion. I'm so happy I came back as I've found my home here at ZoMo. I came to Orca after recovering from a hernia operation. I was at the heaviest I ever been and…read morereally felt terrible about my physical condition. I started training with Sean, Ken and Cat and felt results after only one week. After a month or two the weight was coming off and all i did was attend classes and make some minor changes to my diet. After 6 months I was down 40 lbs and felt in the best shape of my life and again I only changed a few things in my diet. At the age of 50 i was able to achieve my life long dream of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa! According to an article from Marathon Handbook "CrossFit, like most types of exercise, isn't necessarily inherently bad for you or dangerous; however, one of the primary risks of CrossFit workouts is getting injured." I have seen and experienced improper form or technique during CrossFit workouts which can increase the risk of injuries, reason 1, why I left. Overtraining or pushing oneself too hard without proper rest and recovery can lead to burnout or fatigue, reason 2, why I left. Even though they start new comers with "foundational workouts" I wouldn't recommend this type of workout training if you're a new beginner in your fitness journey. If you do decide to join, listen to your body and explore other places to workout. There are better alternatives for beginners.
