Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich
Melissa G.

I visited the brick and mortar store "BOTOGO" which offers 3 different menus, and in this occasion I tried the fried chicken under the "streetbird" menu. They have a variety of fried chicken sandwiches with different sauces and toppings. I am a sucker for pimento cheese so I went with the southern fried chicken sandwich with Fries. The sandwich was divine and alongside with the fries was a very filling and reasonably priced meal. I would love to try all the other different chicken sandwich combinations as they all seem very well balanced and attractive. Great service and fast food delivery !

Holy crap, this is good chicken. My girlfriend and I tried both the Mexican and Nashville Hot sandwiches, and the flavor was so well-balanced on both sandwiches. The Nashville hot had a nice sweetness to the spice (a lot of spice). The pickles cut through nicely. On the Mexican sandwich, there was a quite refreshing guacamole and lime aioli (which we used to extinguish the fire from the previous sandwich). But seriously, wow. 10/10, would spend a lot of money here if I lived closer.

Super fast and friendly service. My buddy and I both had the Nashville hot and it was flavorful and juicy. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu

Was so excited to see that this food truck was at the Moncks corner Halloween festival since I've been wanting to try them. I forget the name of the sandwich I ordered but I believe it had jalapeños on it. The wait was not long at all and the sandwich came out hot! This was the crispiest chicken sandwich I've ever had! I loved it. The chicken was so moist and not greasy. I also got a side a fries which were also crispy and thin. Can't wait to have this truck again!

Burgers are a bit "smashed" and had a nice, crisp sear to them and good flavor. Pickles were a gourmet, fresh style and the sauce was like a savory Russian dressing with strong dill flavor. I wish the bun wasn't so buttered but that's a personal preference. The fries though? Top tier. Super crispy but creamy and smooth on the inside, just enough Cajun seasoning and salt to make me want to shovel them into my mouth forever. And the price? An outstanding value for downtown Charleston. $60 before tip for 3 burgers and fries and a drink. Even less if you get there at happy hour. I keep passing by Big Gun and remembering I want to try it when I have already eaten... don't make the same mistake, get in there and give it a shot. Order at the bar, food came out fast, and bartender was super super friendly and clearly proud of his job and where he worked. J.Ja

If you're getting food, definitely try the blistered green beans, poutine, and the farmer's salad (which is like a Cobb salad/bowl, it's amazing) *but* my all-time fave is the fried chicken sandwich - it's honestly one of the best l've ever had in Charleston. Also, this place is huge so they were able to accommodate my friend's post-wedding party (about 20 people) at the last minute and we had a blast. Everywhere else we tried to go either didn't have the space for us or were closing so it totally made our night! We just made sure to call ahead to check and they were more than happy to have us - the bride was happy so you know it was good :) Bottom line, the Peacock is a local gem hidden in plain sight on East Bay and, as a local, it's become one of my top go-to's in Charleston. You can't beat the prices (seriously), ambience, quality, and awesome staff. They also have live music every week so they know how to keep it classy and lively at the same time. I highly recommend checking it out!

The staff went above and beyond, and the entire evening went off without a hitch. The bartenders were fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and made sure everyone's glasses were never empty (water included!). We also ordered one of our favorite dishes, the Farmer's Salad with Chicken, and it was absolutely delicious -- so good, in fact, that we dove right in and forgot to take a photo first! The food at the surrounding tables looked equally incredible; I'd especially recommend the cheese plate and the tuna. As a bonus, there's a nightclub on the second floor that gets lively on weekends, so the fun doesn't have to stop after dinner. If you haven't been to The Peacock yet, do yourself a favor and stop by -- great food, great drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Impeccable brunch!!…read more I had a reservation on a Sunday morning. I was promptly seated downstairs. The interior is feminine and beautiful. The service felt personal and welcoming. I tried the omelette which was stuffed with asparagus, Boursin cheese and caramelized onion. It was fluffy, light and salty. Also ordered a side of biscuits with strawberry jam which wasn't overly sweet and balanced out the butteriness. The husk mimosa was a hit as well. I'd definitely come back from brunch and curious to try for dinner!

We could hear everything everyone else was saying, and it was difficult to hear others at our own table. The rock music did not help the cacophonous ambience. We ordered the deviled eggs which were tasty and the mushrooms. Some mushrooms came in a creamy sauce which tasted fine, but the other mushrooms were fried and bland. Our entrees were the rabbit, snapper, and scallops with sides of dirty rice, grits, and cabbage. The meat was tender and there were some nice flavors. The dishes were all decent, but very rich and heavy. So, if you like the feeling of that in your stomach, this place is for you. Our server was nice but a bit officious. For the price, we didn't feel the experience was worth it. We thought it was an attempt at elevated southern food that didn't quite succeed.

I hate giving bad reviews, but I will if I need to, however, this place is exceptional!…read more First it's got a super comfy vibe, think, "I've just walked into my aunt's backyard bbq with all of my family". Everyone just fits in, no matter if you're the black sheep! Seating is a little limited, but worth the wait. I guess the first person I ran into was a manager, he introduced himself, (legit, "Hi my name is Bryan" and shook my hand!) (Post Script, the handshake is pervasive here, literally both bartenders were introduced to me and both came up and shook my hand.) I had checked this place out from other Yelp reviews and already knew I wanted the Fish and Chips, so after my beer order, I was shocked and awed that without asking, he brought the Malt Vinegar! You know it's gonna be the bomb already! The fish arrived very quickly! Bruh...this fish was legit. A large solo iceberg of fried perfection crested upon a wave of fresh made "chips " and they were clearly fresh made, not the frozen variety. The beer batter on this fish was so good I was in heaven. I thought it might be heavy and greasy, and yet somehow it held only flavor, crunch, and absorbed my Malt Vinegar to perfection. This place is packed with regulars and it clearly seems to attract other service industries personnel. All good signs of a good time! This may have been my first visit, but won't be my last!
