Beer, 3 chicken tacos, and a veggie taco.
Melissa J.

While visiting friends, they told me about this food truck... Very friendly workers (maybe the owner?) who offered me a sample of the chicken because I was hesitant. After trying it, I was sold. Got 3 tacos (chicken) for $5. Excellent customer service!!! He even encouraged me to try the veggie taco, which included tofu and cactus. Definitely give it a try. The truck was stationed at Sudwerk. Tacos and beer. Doesn't get any better than that :)

Right (carne asada) 2 left (nopales with asada)

When she got there, we got in line and ended up waiting about 10 minutes to get to the register. We both ordered a burrito bowl (chicken and carnitas). One of the biggest draws is the self-serve chips and salsa bar. The chips are so good and the selection of salsas and add-ons was awesome! We went outside and sat at one of the "bar" spots. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. The servings of salsa and guac on top were remarkable! We mixed up our bowls and dove in! It was a very hearty bowl and we were glad since it was not super cheap ($17.80). We sat at the table for almost 3 hours and the servers eventually came and grabbed our bowls and not once pressured us to leave. The place was so busy and buzzing with conversation. The vibe was super chill and the people watching was so fun!

The tacos with beef birria, onions, cilantro, dipped in sauce are mouthwatering delicious! Can't and won't say no. I've also had their street tacos and carne asada fries (El Patio fries with carne asada), which are both pretty good. They offer burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and other dinner plates. I usually dine there later in the evening and it's not too busy. I haven't had to wait for a table. There are usually 2 female workers that wait on the tables and both are friendly. Only one time, the waitress forgot to put in my order, but usually service is good. To be honest, I like the old El Patio Fresh (before they remodeled) better. I liked being able to order at the counter and choose our own seats. Now, it's table service only. They still have a chips and salsa bar, which is really nice. Their salsas are good. Great place for quesabirria tacos in Davis!

I ordered the Birria Especial, which is the Birria plate with 3 quesabirria tacos. It comes with consume as well. This plate always hits the spot and helped warm me up since it's been cold out. I also ordered the patio fries from the happy hour menu, and wanted carne asada as the protein. This has a surcharge of $1.25. So the fries were $8.25, but worth it for the plate we received. I also got horchta to drink besides water. Service was great. We did not feel rushed, but we did come on a night where they closed early so had about an hour to dine in. The layout is still the same as before, so not much has changed. I got to sit in a both and enjoy my meal.

But don't let that stop you. The food is excellent and it's worth taking the time to figure out your order. A few dishes I'd point you toward: the Fajita plate, the Al Pastor plate, and the Quesabirria Tacos are all worth ordering. On my first visit I had what I believe is called the Milpas Salad which was great, but I don't see it on the menu anymore. Great chips and salsa bar too. Great outdoor seating for nice days, and dog-friendly. Already my go-to for Mexican food in town. Love all the artwork on the walls too.

I am not sure when their happy hour begins and ends but we wanted the birria tacos and they had them on a happy hour special 3 for $13 so we ordered two sets, the cone with dipping sauce and pickled onions on the side. We also ordered 2 wet burritos, one with carne asada and one with pollo and a side of black beans and rice for the table. Apparently, they have options of either Pinto beans, black beans or refried beans which is nice. She brought out churros on the house due to my son celebrating his birthday which I thought was very nice. This is good place to go if you need a hearty meal and don't have time to wait at a formal restaurant.
