Stream is doing okay, so far, I guess. In Texas last year, we had that big freeze that knocked the power off line for a lot of Texans, including where I had my Stream Energy account. I was without constant, regular power for over a week. However, when the power did click on, occasionally, there were reports of some electric companies charging exorbitant rates per kilowatt hour. Stream didn't do that! I got charged the regular rate for electricity, as far as I could tell. Now, it seems that rates are probably going up, to pay for all that extra infrastructure that goes into updating the power grid to prevent future outages due to extreme weather. My problem is with their marks who can't give you a straight answer to tour question. All they want to do is to pass the Buck! The corporate headquarters is the same number as customer service. When you ask to speak to someone that can make a decision they leave you with they will let someone know. They can only talk to different "TEAMS". EXTREMELY NEGATIVE. Do yourself a favor, stay as far away as possible. Unprofessional, lack of commitment and responsibility. Poor communication, poor service, phone calls longer than one hour to request service and agents are unable to key the correct information. Numerous calls to incorporate corrections. Wow...no words. I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism in my life from a customer service center.. It's like they threw 10 people in a 5x5 room, you could hear everyone talking in the background. I feel like this has been an ongoing issue according to the other reviews here but no one has made any changes to make it better?? Do you realize how this comes off to customers? Really poorly run is how it looks, how is anyone supposed to have any faith in this company when you do buisness this way? It is seriously ridiculous to me how the buisness owners think this is ok. If I owned a buisness I would ask myself what could I improve to give customers a better experience. Can not deal with their customer support anymore. What a waste of time. Been their customer for 10 years now and its time to change this piece of shit. Customer support are random people abroad, have no idea about your situation and cant even handle a simple transfer request. I was planning to move to a new house so I ordered a new service for new address and I told them I want to keep the electricity for both addresses, I even called to extend the electricity service for my old address for few more months and got a confirmation in email. I had to talk to two supervisors so they could understand what I mean. I was sure the support rep is going to messup and interrupt my service. I don't know how , how do you explain to an idiot that you are moving to a new address but you still want to keep your electricity service active in the old address. Seriously you never have this type of request? Finally, I woke up noticing AC is not on and our power is disconnected. I called them 5 times and every time supervisors said we are so sorry, this is a mistake and we will reconnect you asap, it has been two days that I am out of power for no reason, i have paid my bills, i have a disconnect service date scheduled for few months from now and I have done nothing wrong, but this shady crap has disconnected my service and dont know how to re connect it. Every time I call they say call another number ( they give me their cancellation and collection phone number which doesn't know what to do with me). Seriously, why don't u go bankrupt and disappear so a better company can come up and replace you. I have 4 accounts with this stupid company . I assure you that im cancelling all, even if i have to pay cancellation. You worth shit, and maybe less than shit. I have more respect for a piece of shit than your idiot supervisors. Worst customer service I've ever been exposed to. They have no concept of how to treat their customers. It's a scam. After years of putting up with their inability to communicate. I was done with the fight..raising rates, no answers. Call and they are closed. When they laugh when you cancel services is a HUGE RED FLAG! They lost! I have had stream for YEARS and switched companies in January. On my final bill, instead of using my auto debit, they just never bothered to run my account, the last bill i got from them was on jan. 13th and I paid it through auto draft. I assumed that was my final bill since I never heard from them. Now 5 months later I get a collections notice! They never contacted me prior, never ran my auto debit like I was set up for, nothing!! Just sent me to collections. I think that is a TERRIBLE WAY to do business especially for a long term customer. I have excellent credit so I am highly pissed off about this. Absolutely ridiculous and i would NEVER recommend them to anyone ever again. read more

I recently sold my home and had my service disconnected and they charged me an early term fee of $250 I provided copies of my home sale and I moved in with my daughter so I didn't move my service, they refuse to waive this fee and I am so furious at this company and their shady business practices read more

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT use Stream Energy. In my experience, they're the worst energy company with which I've done business. I sold my home of 15 years in August of 2017. I contacted Stream to make my last payment and close my account. I was asked the name of the new owner of my home, which I provided, but it was not my place to set-up their energy account; they could choose whomever they wanted as an energy provider. The operator assured me all was handled, and I proceeded to move to DFW (400 miles away). Upon checking my credit report last week, I found a debt for $591.69 the Stream turned in to a collection agency for August - October of 2017. I didn't even own, or for that matter live in, the home during that time! I took an 80-point hit to my credit score. I'll be visiting the office off of DNT in Dallas because they won't allow me to dispute the bill; even with my closing docs on my home proving I moved, plus my lease documents in the new place. RIDICULOUS! I'm a single, working mother, also in college, and I don't need to be paying almost $600 on a debt I did not incur. Don't. Use. Stream. read more
