DID YOU KNOW... the totem pole in Pioneer Square was straight-up stolen from a Tlingit Village? DID YOU KNOW... there's a collection of giant shoes under Pike Place Market? I learned these things and more from the Stray Boots app tours! Today I did the Pioneer Square and Pike Place Market tours. They were both really fun! Even though I've lived in Seattle for years, the tours helped me discover lots of Seattle history and took me to places I've never been as well as old favorites. I will definitely be recommending Stray Boots to visiting friends and family. I liked that the app let me proceed at my own pace, and everyone I asked for help, from shopkeepers to random strangers, was really friendly. What a neat way to explore a city! I'll be doing some more tours myself next time I travel. read more

Took the Pike Place Market scavenger hunt. Very annoyed that they assume that no one would be going on it alone so had to pay for 2 instead of 1 since that was the only option. Also upset that with all of the options for clues at the market, they had some that you could not solve on a Sunday. The market is limitless for clues- since they don't give you that many they could at least give you clues that are available every day of the week. Completely NOT WORTH $24. Meh. read more

My friend and I did the Pioneer Square tour and we liked the outdoors aspect of it. We didn't like going into shops where we had no intention of spending money. It wasn't that the shopkeepers made us feel weird, but we felt weird anyway, tromping around stores where we normally wouldn't have gone in (guitar store, saloon at 12pm, that clothing store we skipped completely and faked a photo of because we didn't want to go in and try on clothes we didn't want to buy.) Honestly, I didn't expect that we'd have to go into stores. We abandoned the tour after the glassblowing studio because we were tired of going into stores. read more

Tried the stray boots pioneer tour and although it was interesting the shopkeepers were annoyed at us only going in there for clues. One whom I a refusing to mention even voiced their opinion over the matter and how it may bring people into certain places, none of the people ever buy anything and just hang around. Overall we became very bored and decided to skip the whole event. read more

We did the Pike Place Market tour as a family for spring break and all of us really enjoyed it. It took us to places in the market we hadn't been before and we all learned something. It took about 3 hours, with small breaks for food and browsing in interesting places. Read the directions carefully, we had to ask for guidance from shopkeepers a few times, but managed to find our way. Overall a great way to spend the day. read more

This is a great way to get the kids out of the house and explore the city. We did things together as a family and had a great time taking pictures of our experience. We'd definitely do it again, although we wanted to do the Capitol Hill one, however it wasn't available on their website. It would also be a wonderful first or second date experience, or for out of town guests. read more

Fun, fun, fun! We loved that we could stop/start at will, so that we could fit in dining and shopping. The combo of local history and independent shops was cool. We ended up dining at one of the pubs on the itinerary, found souvenirs at other stores it directed you to, and found great photo opportunities. Make sure you heed the recommended times because clues are sometimes in stores which have business hours - you'll lose points on that stop if you can't enter the store for the answer. The proprietors didn't mind us stopping in for the clues - they found it fun. Not all clues are in shops - most are outdoors. It was a great mix of local history and local stores. The stories and photos that accompany the answers were cool to read. Although I would have preferred more of an emphasis on the history rather than shops. But it did send us into awesome shops we would have otherwise overlooked. The only thing I didn't like was the "take a photo" stops because you actually have to text something to get the points for that task in addition to sending the photo - which we didn't realize until the final one. Call me a perfectionist, but I wanted full points LOL. I am looking forward to trying another - we loved it! Such a unique tour & ultimate flexibility. Highly recommend! read more

My sister and I completed the Pioneer Square Stray Urban Games adventure today. It was fantastic!!! We had so much fun!!!! We were going strong from about 11am to 5pm taking our time and making a few extra fun stops along the way such as an unscheduled stop at F.X. McRorys for 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shell, a lamb and chicken Doner kebob at Berliner and to celebrate our successful mission, an iced mocha and pastry at Caffe Umbria!! We are so impressed with every aspect of the Games from the ease of activation to the high caliber of the clues to the fun and interesting facts we learned along the way! Even the shopkeepers involved were engaging and enthusiastic! Stray Boots covered all their bases to make these games so user-friendly and doable for everyone!! Every clue worked and Stray Boots does tell you which times and days are best to do your adventure! My husband is seriously considering this for a team-building activity...much better than paintballing or bowling!!! Thank you for such a great idea! Once we finally got the download complications sorted out the actual hunt was alot of fun. My kids and I did the Pike Place Market hunt on a Sunday afternoon just for fun. Make sure you start early enough as many shops close at 5pm. Not something to do on a summer evening as many places will be closed. read more
