Jerk Chicken & Curry Chicken with cabbage & rice
    Dawn N.

Delicious! We were craving some good Jamaican food & had to try this after seeing the reviews. We were NOT disappointed! The lunch specials were $4.99 so we tried both the jerk and the curry chicken. They were well seasoned & a nice portion size. Both included cabbage & rice with peas. Service was quick for take out & the food was made fresh upon arrival. Definitely will be returning.

Hands down best food I've tasted in a while. The owner is friendly and attentive and made sure we got what we needed. Even went as far as to make sure the food was ready for us. You can definitely tell he put effort into making the food. Will be returning for more!

Jerk chicken, rice 'n peas, cabbage and plantains.

Excellent West Indian food! We're visiting Florida from Pennsylvania and Strawberries was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. My son and I had jerk chicken with rice&peas, cabbage and plantains. My wife and daughter had jerk pork and my mother in law had Goat head soup. The owner, Janet sat and talked with us for thirty minutes. She was hilarious. While we were there she brought us a complimentary plate of her "famous" mac'n cheese. The chef, Mr. Lowe was grilling the meat in the backyard and cooking in the kitchen. His plantains were so sweet and the rice & peas was better than my mother in laws. This spot is byob, so bring your rum and Janet will give you cups with ice.

I was wanting to stop by this place for a long while, and finally got the opportunity to do so tonight!! Not only was the Mac and cheese the best ever, but the owner and everyone else was absolutely beautiful people. I am already looking forward to my next visit!! Thanks guys for making our night amazing!

I love this place! They are always super FRIENDLY! The food is always fresh and delicious. The only downside is they tend to run out of plantains. With jerk... Its kind of a must. Not worth losing points over. It's a small restaurant and I'd rather fresh food that moves fast than microwave left overs from the place across the street any day. Today I called to order and they had rum out but fresh chicken was on the grill. I appreciated them letting me know it would be done soon, to call back. Also, I looove the music they play loud in the parking lot.

Don't drive by... Strawberry Restaurant is excellent!!!

Stopped in Strawberry for lunch today because I was in the mood for some jerk chicken. It was AMAZING!!!! My wife and I are heading to Negril later this month and I doubt it'll be any better than Mike's here at Strawberry. My only regret is that I missed the callilou (greens) which are being cooked later today and can be pre ordered by calling ahead. I bought 2 patties to go and have plenty of left overs from my medium jerk chicken plate. The cabbage and peas and rice were perfect sides. If you're within an hour drive and want authentic and delicious Caribbean food, make your way to Strawberry Restaurant.

Great food, good selection of juices. I ordered large curry goat, they give plenty of food. No sweet plantains, they did have Mac and cheese, but felt like cheese only on top, and not throughout.

Medium Jerk Chicken Lunch Special. Delicious! Perfectly seasoned

I was around the area, and wanted to try the local cuisine. I found this hole in the wall on Yep, and decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I was intrigued by the appearance of the restaurant, but went in anyways. I was greeted by a sweet lady and asked what the lunch special was. After being recommended the Jerk Chicken, I ordered the dish and went to the dining room next door. It was definitely an authentic Jamacan family-run restaurant. I ordered the Jerk Chicken. It was the best I've ever had. It came with rice and beans and steamed cabbage and carrots. The chicken was smokey on the outside and juicy in the inside, and had a great amount of Jamacan spices that gave it an amazing taste, as well as a good kick. The rice was also well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I'll definitely be back to try one of their other dishes and support this authentic hole-in-the-wall.

Carmen's Restaurant and Catering 2280 Harris Ave NE Palm Bay, FL 32905…read more 4 Stars After what appeared to be a mistake in my last Jamaican joint review (whoa, that has a few connotations), I thought I was being punished by immediately being sent to another one by my random name generator. After smacking it on the side a few times and shaking it, I found it to be working correctly, so I proceeded to Carmen's Restaurant and Catering in Palm Bay, FL. What a world of difference! Carmen is the proprietor and a one-woman show and boyo, let me tell ya, she sure shines. I found Carmen's menu to be a joy to behold, as eclectic as my vinyl collection. As such, I decided to go in a different direction today and steered away from the traditional Jamaican fare such as Jerk Chicken and Curried Goat and went with an order of Carmen's Fried Chicken with sides of rice, beans and potato salad along with an order of her Bang Bang Fried Shrimp Tacos (the same name as the drek at the horrid Bonefish Grill) with fries. As Carmen got to work on my eats, I took in the interior. I found it to be open, welcoming, bright, and cheery, not unlike the owner! Carmen was out in no time with my foodstuffs. Taking a few before pictures, I got to work. I turned my attention and palate to the Fried Chicken. The first thing I noticed was the crunch of the coating. If you look at the picture I've attached, you can see what I mean. That coating was slathered on without care for conservation. It wasn't too much, it was just enough. The chicken, blanketed in a tender, juicy, succulent coating, tasted superb. The rice and beans were well-cooked and seasoned with love. The potato salad, like everything else, I assume was made by Carmen and if your Grandmother makes a better potato salad, I will eat these words! I can't speak for you, but when I hear or read the words, Bang Bang, I immediately think of three things. First, playing cops and robbers as a child and "shooting" the bad guy with my finger gun while shouting, "Bang! Bang!" The second is the Bollywood bad remake of a worse film, "Bang Bang!" The third thing I think of is Chinese Street Chicken. None of this has anything to do with Carmen's Bang Bang Fried Shrimp Tacos, other than the Bang Bang sauce is loosely based on the Chinese Street Chicken tossing sauce. Carmen's Bang Bang sauce was a mixture of mayo, spicy stuff and it was mahvalous, dahling! The shrimp were coated with the same love and care as the chicken and were just as tender and juicy. Got Dayum! Carmen knows her way around a kitchen. I can only assume these are her recipes as well. She should open a restaurant and share this with...oh, wait. Never mind. With this meal and the success of the Fried Chicken at Cajun Soul, my hopes have been raised considerably. The Big Boy says, "If you want good eats served with love and a friendly smile, visit Carmen. Tell her the Big Boy sent ya (it's safe this time)!"

If you have ever been to Jamaica, then you would love the food here. I even got their beef patties with sauce. I could make a meal with those alone. They are so good. Well packed with meat and flavor, the sauce just adds to it and takes it over the top. When we finished, I had a very happy tummy. There is more I want to try, so I will definitely be going back. They have signs that they do a Sunday brunch and will have to give that a try. If you use credit or debit cards they do add a 4% fee. Have noticed a lot of places are doing that now. Just another reason to carry some cash. But even if you don't 4% really isn't that back as their food is worth it. Stop in give they a try.

When I placed my order I got a text saying it was ready within seconds, which clearly told me the food was not freshly cooked. When we arrived we were told we'd already received a refund, because one of our three entrees was sold out. I said okay well there are three of us needing food, so I don't need a refund, I need a third entree. He also told me they were out of pasta salad, so they just swapped in steam veggies which we didn't want. But instead of picking up the phone and calling us, they just gave refund for entree and decided our side for us. So then, when I went to order third entree, they were now sold out of the order everyone else got, and they had the nerve to charge us extra for the one entree they had available. And even worse, I used the bathroom which had a sign that said "employees must wash hands", and they didn't even have a soap dispenser of any kind to wash my own hands!!! This place is disgusting and worst customer service experience I've ever had, and never going back. Steer clear of this place!!!!
