Great food and good presentation with nice people. The candy looked great, too. Will go back for it.

However, the place is now called Chef B. Restaurant which serves up Caribbean and Soul food, eat here, takeout, or third party delivery. After visiting the Space Coast, I decided to give this place a try for takeout dinner. As I'm walking inside, a group of people thought I was a delivery driver since I did have a mask on, but I was here to get food for myself. The place was blasting Caribbean music in the old school restaurant and bar. I head up to the counter where there is a posted menu board. They offer a variety of entrees with sides including chicken, shrimp, fish, goat, pork, turkey, oxtail, legume, pate kode, smoked jerk bbq (chicken, pork, ribs, wings). I decided to go with the fried fish dinner ($17) which was a whole fish breaded and deep fried, served with dark rice & beans, fried plantains, and lettuce & onions, spicy cabbage/carrot slaw and a sweet dipping sauce. My food was all set, boxed and bagged in less than 15 minutes. Since I was in a hurry, I decided to enjoy my dinner in my vehicle at a shopping center parking lot. The whole fish had small bones of course, so I had to filet it before eating, hot and moist texture which had good flavors. The rice & beans and plantains were great side choices too. The portion of food was generous, so it took me a while to finish my boxed dinner. I feel I got lucky choosing a random place for dinner and I really enjoy Caribbean and Latin American food when I can.

Basic and they use the Maggi djon djon. Rice have a green hue to it. There's like nothing special…read moreabout this restaurant

Carmen's Restaurant and Catering 2280 Harris Ave NE Palm Bay, FL 32905…read more 4 Stars After what appeared to be a mistake in my last Jamaican joint review (whoa, that has a few connotations), I thought I was being punished by immediately being sent to another one by my random name generator. After smacking it on the side a few times and shaking it, I found it to be working correctly, so I proceeded to Carmen's Restaurant and Catering in Palm Bay, FL. What a world of difference! Carmen is the proprietor and a one-woman show and boyo, let me tell ya, she sure shines. I found Carmen's menu to be a joy to behold, as eclectic as my vinyl collection. As such, I decided to go in a different direction today and steered away from the traditional Jamaican fare such as Jerk Chicken and Curried Goat and went with an order of Carmen's Fried Chicken with sides of rice, beans and potato salad along with an order of her Bang Bang Fried Shrimp Tacos (the same name as the drek at the horrid Bonefish Grill) with fries. As Carmen got to work on my eats, I took in the interior. I found it to be open, welcoming, bright, and cheery, not unlike the owner! Carmen was out in no time with my foodstuffs. Taking a few before pictures, I got to work. I turned my attention and palate to the Fried Chicken. The first thing I noticed was the crunch of the coating. If you look at the picture I've attached, you can see what I mean. That coating was slathered on without care for conservation. It wasn't too much, it was just enough. The chicken, blanketed in a tender, juicy, succulent coating, tasted superb. The rice and beans were well-cooked and seasoned with love. The potato salad, like everything else, I assume was made by Carmen and if your Grandmother makes a better potato salad, I will eat these words! I can't speak for you, but when I hear or read the words, Bang Bang, I immediately think of three things. First, playing cops and robbers as a child and "shooting" the bad guy with my finger gun while shouting, "Bang! Bang!" The second is the Bollywood bad remake of a worse film, "Bang Bang!" The third thing I think of is Chinese Street Chicken. None of this has anything to do with Carmen's Bang Bang Fried Shrimp Tacos, other than the Bang Bang sauce is loosely based on the Chinese Street Chicken tossing sauce. Carmen's Bang Bang sauce was a mixture of mayo, spicy stuff and it was mahvalous, dahling! The shrimp were coated with the same love and care as the chicken and were just as tender and juicy. Got Dayum! Carmen knows her way around a kitchen. I can only assume these are her recipes as well. She should open a restaurant and share this with...oh, wait. Never mind. With this meal and the success of the Fried Chicken at Cajun Soul, my hopes have been raised considerably. The Big Boy says, "If you want good eats served with love and a friendly smile, visit Carmen. Tell her the Big Boy sent ya (it's safe this time)!"

If you have ever been to Jamaica, then you would love the food here. I even got their beef patties with sauce. I could make a meal with those alone. They are so good. Well packed with meat and flavor, the sauce just adds to it and takes it over the top. When we finished, I had a very happy tummy. There is more I want to try, so I will definitely be going back. They have signs that they do a Sunday brunch and will have to give that a try. If you use credit or debit cards they do add a 4% fee. Have noticed a lot of places are doing that now. Just another reason to carry some cash. But even if you don't 4% really isn't that back as their food is worth it. Stop in give they a try.

Today was primarily chicken so I decided to try the rotisserie chicken. I only eat white meat and instead of being able to purchase just a breast or individual pieces, I had to buy the entire half a chicken. The spices were good but the chicken was as dry as the desert. I also ordered mashed potatoes which were terrible with zero flavor and steamed vegetables which they were out of. My boys all got steak sandwiches and enjoyed them. I will have to try one eventually although I am not anxious to return. We also got dessert to go. I love cheesecake and got the strawberry cheesecake. It was some of the worst cheesecake I have ever eaten. Not one strawberry, just some strawberry flavored gelatin on top and the cheesecake itself was as dense as a brick. Yuk. I did not bother taking pictures because the food was not photo worthy. I gave the place more than one star only because the service is good and friendly. The prices are far too high for such low quality. 64 dollars total. Too much for food that is only memorable because of the lack of quality and taste, sadly.

When I placed my order I got a text saying it was ready within seconds, which clearly told me the food was not freshly cooked. When we arrived we were told we'd already received a refund, because one of our three entrees was sold out. I said okay well there are three of us needing food, so I don't need a refund, I need a third entree. He also told me they were out of pasta salad, so they just swapped in steam veggies which we didn't want. But instead of picking up the phone and calling us, they just gave refund for entree and decided our side for us. So then, when I went to order third entree, they were now sold out of the order everyone else got, and they had the nerve to charge us extra for the one entree they had available. And even worse, I used the bathroom which had a sign that said "employees must wash hands", and they didn't even have a soap dispenser of any kind to wash my own hands!!! This place is disgusting and worst customer service experience I've ever had, and never going back. Steer clear of this place!!!!
