I really wanted to give this DJ a higher rating, but there were some serious mistakes made at our wedding. Sue was fairly helpful leading up to the wedding, but that doesn't make up for the mistakes at the actual ceremony. I believe we had Shane as our DJ, and the mistakes were both due to a miscommunication between him and the DJ company as well as his ignorance of our specific requests. The first mistake was that he did not follow the schedule provided prior to the ceremony. I understand that is it supposed to be flexible, but I felt like either myself or my guests had to help steer the evening. When the toasts weren't working with the microphone (not necessarily the DJ's fault), I felt like he just abandoned announcing individuals and giving the evening some flow. The next, and perhaps most grand, mistakes were the first dances. We gave the DJ specific instructions about family relations and name pronunciation. He called my step-father my father and mispronounced his name about 4 different times. When it was my husband's time to dance with his mother, the DJ called out the name of his step-mother. With both of us coming from divorced families, it's embarrassing enough to have them in the same location, let alone have it pointed out by a vendor that we paid good money for. Next, the DJ didn't play very good music and ignored our must play list for most of the evening. We requested a very specific last song, which he did play, but then he chose to play 3 or 4 more songs after that. And, of course, the extra songs were ones we had requested that he neglected to play earlier in the evening.
