The wedding venue was in the middle of nowhere with a spectacular view of the Trinity Mountains in Northern California. Even though Freelance Productions is based out of the Bay Area, Lance took special care to interview multiple DJ's from the area near the wedding venue with questions I would never have thought to ask. The DJ he found was PERFECT! The DJ was flexible, punctual, came with all of the equipment needed, and was happy to travel to our remote location. I wish I had hired Lance to organize all of the other vendors for the event. I would have avoided the miscommunications with the photographer and videographer. I highly recommend Freelance Productions.

They got the birthday boy up (if you call 46 years old a boy) and got him dancing - and I have to admit he didn't embarrass himself :-) It's hard to find a company that will work within your budget to find just the right talent at the right price. He was able to fulfill our specific song requests and definitely got the vibe we were going for, complementing our selections nicely before, during, and after the ceremony. We 100% would recommend Zain to friends or family having social events!

My favorite part about his DJ style is that he always checks in to see if there are any preferences by the person booking them. Citzen Zain has a WIDE repertoire of music. He's also incredibly professional: punctual, doesn't play longer than he's supposed to, and really well prepared. If you want a professional DJ with stellar taste in a wide variety of music, Citizen Zain's your guy. Plus, he's the nicest. There's only room for nice people when you're planning an event.

Also no extra charge for special music requests, which was good for us, because we had a lot of special requests. He kept EVERYONE on the dance floor all night long! My two favorite things Mark did: 1. He arranged with our caterer to have the head table's dinner plated (we served buffet) so that we didn't have to get up and we had plenty of time to socialize after we ate. 2. Instead of using the mic to release each table to the buffet line, he went around personally and let each table know individually. We got many many compliments from our guests about this gesture. If you are looking for an affordable, professional non-chatty DJ, Mark Phinney is your answer!

For every wedding, there are several key elements that make or break the event. Yes, the…read morephotographer is very important - after all, what are you going to look at years down the line. The caterer is also very important as everyone loves a great diverse meal - especially in and around the bay area. Perhaps what people forget however is that the majority of time spent at a wedding revolves in and around the dance floor. Therefore, I strongly recommend the DJing services of Mark Phinney. Mark DJ'd our October '08 wedding in Mill Valley. He indeed was a true professional. We met with him twice before the wedding at his home in Alameda as we had a very specific schedule we wanted to run by him. In addition we had a specific "play" and "do not play" list. Mark had no problems with our agenda and stuck to our song list perfectly. Clearly his song list is extensive as he had every tune we requested - even if he didn't, he was willing to acquire it. For the record, we skewed our music toward the 70's, 80's and 90's. In terms of equipment, Mark had all the bases covered. This was not an easy task since our entire event was at the same location (The Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club). Our ceremony was in back, our reception in front and our dinner and dancing inside the facility. Mark provided microphones and speakers at all three locations without a glitch. We didn't have Mark do much speaking beyond what a typical wedding DJ would do but he was willing to do more if we requested. Perhaps the true sign of a fantastic DJ is simply to observe the dance floor. From our young cousins to our older parents, the dance floor was completely full throughout the event. We actually had to plea with our friends to leave the dance floor after the event. If you are considering a great, affordable wedding DJ, look no further than Mark Phinney.

I have always said, and will continue to say Eddy is hands down the most down to earth, easy going, understanding, and talented Disc Jockey out there. For the Law School Gala, we gave him a MASSIVE list of songs, with genres all over the map. Eddy took one look at it and instead of being intimated, ran with it as a challenge. Folks, he delivered tenfolds! From Professors, to students, to admin, EVERYONE was rockin' the whole night through. When I started planning my wedding, there was no question in my mind that Vanguard Entertainment was going to be the folks to keep the wedding lively. I am of Vietnamese and Iranian descent, while my now Husband is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent. You can imagine the difficulty in figuring out a song list that would reach such a diverse group of people. Without even batting an eye, Eddy took my list, which consisted of every possible genre you can imagine, plus multi-cultural music - both persian and latin inspired - and kicked butt. I still have guests calling me telling me how sore they are from dancing the night away. People keep saying our wedding was the most fun people have had at a wedding, and I wholeheartedly credit that to Eddy's skills. Vanguard Entertainment Group came fully equipped, prepared, looking professional, and unfazed by my ridiculous request to mix Persian, Latin, 80s, 90s, crooner music, and more, in a fun and smooth way. That is a true indication of their dedication and abilities. V.E. took care of the music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, AND reception. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. Love them. Thanks for making our wedding a night to remember, Eddy!
