I just don't think my review can really do him justice - DJ Sir Edgar was incredible! He is the perfect mix of easy-going but still professional, and had this ability to instill a calmness in me that I was so grateful for (think wedding day anxiety!). I really appreciated his ability to remain relaxed, confident, and truly attentive to our needs/desires and to our crowd. I had one guest who asked me if WE had made the entire playlist, or was it truly the DJ reading the crowd? I was so happy to let her know that it was ALL Edgar reading the crowd and adjusting accordingly. One thing that was important to me was finding the balance between party music for our younger crowd/college friends and dancing music for our parents and their friends. I saw our parents dancing at the very end of the night! We also had a smaller group (100 and many didn't dance) and it takes true talent for Edgar to have been able to continue DJing and through all the slower parts of the night. He was also able to provide uplighting which was worth it, and honest with us when our uplighting needs were too large for what he could provide, which showed me that he was very attentive to quality at our wedding and not at all money-focused. As the star rating suggests, he was as good as it gets! After interviewing 4 other DJ's in person, we hired Ed after only a phone interview! Even my conversation with one of his references clocked a good 30 minutes of just talking about how amazing he is. Ed is a fun guy, who makes you feel very comfortable. I was relaxed and excited about our music (for the first time during the wedding planning) after we first met with him. When we were unsure about what we wanted, he gave great suggestions, and when we were firm on things we wanted, he didn't argue or put it down. When it came to the actual wedding he was more amazing than we could have predicted. He was all set up promptly, was able to fill in music where we hadn't picked any, timed all the songs perfectly, and boy could he read the crowd well! My family is the "we want to dance RIGHT NOW" type, and Ed was able to see this and adapt to them piling onto the dance floor the moment the reception began. Ed was able to deal with delays and changes in the schedule, and make everything run smoothly. He even had some surprise songs up his sleeve for my husband and I. Ed didn't play EVERY song we had suggested to him, but that's because he was able to recognize what my guests wanted, and made sure he kept both my guests, and myself and my husband, happy! He did, however, leave out songs he knew we DEFINITELY did not want!! We are more than happy with the job Ed did. Ed was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and he sure was one of the biggest topics of conversation after the wedding. Oh, and I will throw this last thing in there: Ed was fairly priced. I received quotes from SO MANY DJ's, and based on everything you would look for in a DJ, Ed was a steal in our opinion. It pains me to be Sir Edgar's first negative review, but I wanted to share my story as a heads up to other brides/grooms. We set up a meeting with Sir Edgar because we wanted to meet him before the wedding, even though we were ready to book him on yelp reviews alone. He asked us to go all the way out to Fremont to meet near where he lives. We requested he meet us half way, but he insisted we go all the way to him. When we got there he asked a lot of good questions and we really liked him. We told him we had a check with us and wanted to book him, but he decided to wait until that moment to tell us another couple was holding that date with him. He knew he was probably booked on our date and he still made us drive 2 hours on a weeknight. When I emailed him to express our frustration he only got defensive and didn't apologize. My advice to San Francisco couples is to insist on having Sir Edgar at least come to meet you in the city so if he ends up wasting your time, at least you can save yourself the bridge toll and gas. read more

Well..wrong, while Ed is a truly awesome person, I met him when my fiance and I happen to be at The Republic with a group of friends a few months ago. He is that 'once in a blue moon' dj you come across that's so amazing that everyone in our group..including my fiance and I, had to stop and comment on how fantastic the music was. His music actually ended up keeping us there hours after we intended to leave. Because of that, we ended up hiring him for our wedding. And that was when he began to get even more impressive. Not only is he smart and just a cool, highly likeable guy, he's incredibly hard working and dependable (the latter is a rare find in the wedding vendor world). We had him splice a song for us for our first dance and were so picky about it that he tweeked 9 versions of it for us until we were happy (yes, we became "That Couple"). Not only was he patient throughout, but he also, in his own caring way, reminded me to not sweat the small stuff (that being tiny nuances in the song). Ed's a breath of fresh air for a wedding couple. He's, by far, one of the most rewarding vendors we've worked with. I can't recommend him enough to bar/club owners or fellow wedding couples.
