Josh delivered to a T, making sure we had the right level of emceeing without feeling over the top. David completely understood our vision for every section of the wedding. My wife's father/daughter dance song was initially going to be longer than we wanted and he made a seamless edit of the song to fit within our parameters. David was also incredibly quick responding to emails and providing feedback. The audio during the ceremony was clear even with some pretty strong winds. Once the dancing started it didn't stop until the end of the night. He kept the flow going and was able to read the crowd and adjust. I had the pleasure of working with Boutique DJs for my wedding, and I couldn't be happier that I chose them to provide DJ and photo booth services. My venue had strict policies in place for all vendors to adhere to, but Boutique's staff (Alex on the admin side, David Carvalho for DJ) handled all preparation and execution with promptness, dependability, and professionalism the entire way through. They were very communicative over email in the months leading up to the wedding. As for the actual day-of DJ services, David was flawless. He provided all the necessary equipment for the ceremony in the courtyard, hit all the music right on cue during the ceremony, and kept the reception dance floor on fire for hours with a mix of 90s hip hop and rnb + a sprinkling of top 40 (my preference; you can specify any songs/genres you like during wedding planning). He's also a super nice guy and a breeze to work with. We reached out to Dj Josh Dukes through his website about 6-7 months prior to our wedding on 10/15/2017. He quickly connected us to his company Boutique Dj's and we coordinated both through Alex and Josh to finalize what we needed. Alex sent over a list of services and we settled in on Josh, a photo booth and additional lighting to set the mood. The communication with both Alex and Josh is exemplary. Josh is extremely patient. My phone must have dropped the conference call with him four times and it did not phase him. What I greatly appreciate is his attention to detail. Having done many weddings before he brought up a many things that we didn't think about (ie. mics for the ceremony, timing for the cake cutting, bouquet toss and garter toss, etc). Alex is also very patient and understanding. We developed a footer for the photos with some very specific requests (color and font choice). She clearly communicated this to the photo booth operator and we ended up with a final product that everyone loved. Now come the week before our wedding the #Atlasfire started in Napa. Our original venue was quickly evacuated. Three days before the wedding we finalized a new location and both Alex and Josh accommodated the change in venue with no complications. We are forever grateful for their understanding and helpfulness during this amazingly stressful time period. Lastly, as the night progressed, I made Dj Josh's job extremely difficulty. We provided him with a list of must plays songs (less that 10 or so) and gave him the freedom to play to the crowd . . . he did an amazing job - I don't remember seeing the dance floor empty at any time! However, I was attending to my guests and for some reason wanted to get a set of photos in with as many people as I could. This meant that both my wife and I weren't on the dance floor at the same time very often. Even with this complication, Josh made sure that our must play songs were played when we were both on the dance floor and the transitions were seamless. Josh is the MAN!! We had a very specific vibe that we wanted for our wedding (classic 80s/90s house with a few classic gay pop remixes/anthems thrown in for good measure). Over the course of several conversations, Josh and I talked about what I wanted and I ultimately decided to pre-select about 60 tracks that he could pull from, of which 7 were must-plays. We booked Boutique DJs as a recommendation from our wedding planner. Specially Josh Dukes, one of the owners/founders was our DJ. When selecting the DJ, we were impressed by how professional Josh was. He was able to share with us previous playlists, and we really liked his style. Before the wedding, you fill out music planning form online, which you can save, and go back to and make edits. A week or so before the wedding, we had several communications with Josh so we can make sure that everything was prepared for the wedding. The music was perfect, both for the ceremony and for the reception. We had our officiant use a lapel mic, and I used a handheld. Sound quality was great even though our venue was outside, and close to a busy street during the day. After the reception, Josh came to congratulate us. Since we hadn't met him in person yet, this was the first time we had seen him -- Josh was wearing a suit and I actually thought he was one our guest's guest. So fancy! We're were complimented on how much fun our guests had on the the dance floor. Josh was very accommodating to fit our wide range of style / song choices, lengths, and even helped fit in a special dance. The mixing between songs was flawless. We filled out an extensive list (do's and don't's, must-plays, etc.) and he still followed up with us to get a really good sense of who we are and what we like. I had a blast hearing some of my favorite tunes during dinner, he was skillful and graceful at cutting the "big dances" short (I am NOT a dancer) when I caught his eye, and he even went so far as to cut a backing track down for me and my sisters to perform at the wedding for my groom. In the beginning I was worried that our wedding might be boring for a DJ because we didn't want a dance floor. My husband and I LOVE music. We spent hours upon hours making sure we thought of all our favorite tunes to play at our wedding this past Fall. We wanted the right feeling music for all parts of the day, and more importantly, we wanted the right DJ. I am in the wedding industry (photographer) and I've worked with lots and lots of DJs in my career. It is sad to say that I am rarely impressed with what is out there, and there are only a select few DJ companies that I recommend to my own clients, Boutique DJs being at the very top of my list. Guest experience was our number one priority for our wedding, so when it came time for the dance floor to open up, we didn't want a dull moment. I knew that Boutique DJs would do this for us, and man oh man was I SO right! My favorite thing about Boutique DJs is that they have a legit set up- and actually mix the music up on the spot for dancing, keeping the variety wide and the energy up at all times. While dancing, we never had to hear a song from start to finish (which is what can cause the dance floor to empty!), and our DJ, Zach Lonas, somehow managed to play pretty much every song we asked for in an hour and thirty minutes- and we asked for A LOT. We love how he mixed up the song choices and blended them together. The fact that he so tastefully made a favorite Beatles song of mine sound like something in a nightclub just made my heart melt. The DJs at this company are artists, not just dudes with iTunes libraries. Our DJ Zach Lonas was pure bliss to work with. He "nerded" out on the phone with us about music whenever we wanted to chat, and he made us feel so at ease about how particular we were about song choices. On the wedding day, he was not only a flawless DJ, he also did a wonderful job at getting guests from one room to the other, announcing toasts, and much more. He was dressed professionally, always had a smile on his face, and enjoyed working at a our wedding. We love him! I had an unusual request for Zach which he accommodated completely. I wanted a live recording of the music he mixed for dancing, so that we could listen to it for a lifetime and relive the fun memories. He provided us with a super high quality MP3 after the wedding, and I'll be honest I have listened to it every day (when I walk the dog, clean the house, drive my car, etc.) I got chills during certain parts of the MP3 because it really brought me back. In addition to music, Ernie hooked us up with sound for the ceremony and tunes for cocktail hour. Ernie took the time to visit our wedding venue with me prior to the event to make sure they'd set up sound in the best way possible for all areas of the event. Ernie is super knowledgeable, easy to be around, and shows enthusiasm. Loved having him be a part of our day! We also had lighting provided through Boutique DJs which came out so nicely! The up-lighting in the lounge area was perfectly moody, and the color changing lights for the dance floor were just the right amount of fun without intruding on the guests having a good time.
