Dr. Ferguson was one of a handful of highly qualified (and personable) integrative/functional physicians in the Bay area--who also accepted insurance & medicare. Now she's gone. The health practitioners she recommends are out of my budget because they offer boutique care...in some cases you have to pay X amount per year to be a member of their club--forget about insurance coverage like before. It's also getting harder to be accepted as a 'new' patient by pill-pushing doctors. (What's happening to delivery of medical care in California--and throughout the US--is a catastrophe quietly mounting in strength.)

I did not have any neuropathy from the chemo and very little nausea. I believe that this treatment helped me to feel better during this time. Dr. Chen has such a calming way about her, that just taking that hour of time for myself felt like a gift. She has a genuine care and concern for her patients. You feel nurtured and safe while in her care. I definitely recommend Dr. Chen for anyone going through cancer treatment, but I have no doubt that her treatment benefits extend beyond cancer as well (pain, stress, etc).

Very poor service, waited on hold 15 min to be routed away from the office. Rep didn't know why an ofc visit was mandated for a flu/ covid shot nor how much that office visit would cost (shots should be covered) nor the code I could share when I make another call to insurance to find out. Then he offered to route me back and I asked he stay on the line. He did not and then after another 7 min the held call dropped. Crazy... Guess I'll go to CVS... Boo...it used to be such a nice office with great care.

When you call his office (during office hours) someone picks up on the first or second ring. When you arrive you are given the most minimum paperwork which is a huge relief. He's always on time and you are never kept waiting. Most doctors talk to you while staring at your chart or typing into a computer and barely look at you. Dr. Huie gives direct eye contact right away and is present with you the entire time. You get his full attention. He asks enough questions but doesn't pester you with irrelevant ones. He gets quickly to his suggestion and doesn't overly explain things once you get it. He has a great network of folks he refers you do and somehow even has their phone numbers memorized. The office sends you easy to understand bills and is easy to work with. Doctors like these are a dying breed. I hope he never retires.

While waiting for the doctor, I overheard her and staff gossiping about me outside the door. I waited 45 minutes only to be talked to in a condescending matter. Very responsive to calls/texts/emails, even on weekends. We have limited interaction with the other doctors here, but they seemed equally good. And the support staff is top-notch, with a first-rate nursing team and office administrators. When a referral is appropriate, they are knowledgeable about the experts in the area and can give first rate recommendations (e.g., cardiology, dermatology, EN&T, etc.), and they follow up with them. To give one example of the pro-active and thoughtful actions of this office, when the first Covid vaccines were available in 2020, they organized a "drive-through" for injections in the Lafayette school parking lot for patients and others in the community. It was a huge undertaking but an incredible success, and I am sure that many were able to avoid the consequences of this terrible disease.
