I was…read morebooking a physical with Dr. Marin and his secretary told me that he was only booking physicals in May which was still 2 months away. I wanted to book the appointment sooner because I knew if I waited I would probably not end up going. The secretary then told me I could come in for a "meet and greet" to meet the doctor. I said ok figuring it would be a good way to meet the doctor and see if I was comfortable with him. Well boy was that a huge mistake!!! He asked me what my concerns were and his response to every thing I told him was that we will take care of this during your physical. I felt he was rushed and could care less but I decide I would still see him for my physical. Well come a month later and I get a bill from his office!!!! The bill is around $200!! For a "meet and greet"! He literally talked to me for 5 minutes and told me we would do everything when I come back for my physical. WTF am I paying him for. I take this up with the billing department and she asks the doctor if he can "give me a discount". He says the services and charges are valid because I saw him for two reasons. Umm no I did not!! If you ask me what my concerns are and I tell you and you say we will take care of it in my future appointment that is not seeing you for those reasons. The secretary should be more clear when offering this "meet and greet". I understand time is money but to offer a 5 minute appointment to meet the doctor and be charged $200 is unethical and ridiculous. Beware!! He could give two $h!t# about his patients.

My vision was very blurred, I had a discharge in my eyes, and they became extremely bloodshot. I was uncertain what had caused this. Bruce was very patient and spent time explaining to me the possibilities. I was very afraid. He ran some tests and I tried using some antibiotic eyedrops that another doctor at Sutter had reluctantly given me. Although at the time I felt frustrated because we were unable to find a solution, time actually healed my eyes and fortunately my blurry vision and other symptoms had subsided. Bruce just had a great manner. He was very calming and tried everything he could think of and anything I suggested that he believed would be helpful. He was patient and knowledgable. I appreciated his help.

Between my husband and myself, we have had a myriad set of very complicated health issues, and have worked with 20+ doctors throughout the Bay Area. In all that time, Dr. Carie is easily the most attentive, thoughtful and caring doctor I've had the pleasure to meet and rely upon. She never makes quick or unthoughtful recommendations, and seems to count upon me as partner in maintaining my health, not a lofty doctor on high supplying wisdom for me to accept without question. Granted the office support isn't always on top form, but they do in fact care, listen and try to improve when you bring issues to their attention. Also, I was surprised by one of the comments about the lack of notes. Each and every time I work with her (in person or online) I see careful, detailed records. In fact, before she lets me leave the office, she prints out the notes from that appointment and confirms I'm clear about next steps and makes sure all my questions are answered. Myself, I'm thankful to have her warm and supportive care, and know I can count on her for any issues big or small that require medical assistance. Just wish all doctors cared about the people they treat as much as Dr. Carie cares about her own patients. She's a true gem in an increasingly impersonal medical world.

I called last week to get an appt. was told Dr Lowe was out till mid-July. So i asked to get an appt with Dr Chin as she is notes as my primary care physician on the card. I was told I cannot make an appt with her as she is not my doctor and is not taking new patients. First i find it unethical that the medical profession would put that doctors name on my card - if I am never going to be able to see her. I was told someone would call me back that day to let me know what can be done. No-one from this facility called me back. However, when I went online and made an appt, they were able to call me back within 10-mins to tell me i can't make that appt. I filed a grievance with Medical regarding this Dr and facility. I finally got a call on the Thursday of that week from someone in the office, i called back friday morning and was told someone would call me back - no-one did (there's a surprise). Finally on the following Monday i speak to someone who refers me to the Rhode Island location that does not have residents and you can see a real doctor (that actually works - unlike those at 3801 Sacramento). Why they could not have done this the previous Monday is beyond me -i've had to be in pain for an additional week due to their sheer incompetence and unhelpful ness of this office. Avoid this Dr and location at all costs. Head to the Rhode Island location -where the staff are 100 times nice and the Doctors too!

Bill Gonda is wonderful, and my experience with GG Pediatrics has been nothing but superb…read more I'm a doctor myself, and had a kid last February. The day after he was born, a pediatrician from GG pediatrics came into our room, introduced herself (Dr. Dana) and told us she'd checked up on Max. She was wonderful. The next day, the rounding physician did the same thing. We were discharged from CPMC with a somewhat yellow baby, and told to get a bilirubin lab the next day, to make sure the newborn jaundice wasn't dangerous. So of course, I go home, there's tons of relatives there, we're all having fun, and I didn't feel like getting the lab drawn the next day. Come on, I'm a physician, right? Well, Bill Gonda called me back personally, and told me to get my butt into the lab and get the test. Sure enough, the bilirubin was ...bad. So of course, then we got bilirubin lights delivered to our house in the middle of the night, we got more labs, things got a little worse, we ended up in the NICU, with our precious brand new baby under the lights, and we got through it. All through this, (weekends were involved), we had the support and personal phone calls from a number of pediatricians in the group (Mary Piel is phenomenal, too, incidentally), not to mention personal phone calls from Dr. Gonda checking up on my kid (NICU nurses saying, "oh, Dr. Gonda just called in," or "Dr. Gonda wants you to spend the night." ) He was always checking on Max, even when we probably didn't even know it. And here's the thing: he wasn't even on call that weekend!!! He doesn't get paid extra for any of this crap, and remember, this whole thing probably happened because I didn't feel like listening to him in the first place! Now that's great doctoring... Another reviewer said a lot of nasty things about the office, incidentally, and we totally disagree. It's a bustling, happy place, and we have never been seen more than 10 minutes after our appointment time. We get a lot of personal time with Dr. G, and we love the smiling and happy staff. The walls are bright pink! What's not to love?? It's a great place, and quite honestly, I think it's the premiere pediatric office in the city. Max is a lucky kid, to have such great doctors.
