Thanks to Kaiser & Dr. Karan, he is almost as fit as he was before the stroke. We highly recommend Dr. Karan for neurological issues. In regards to another review here, I must agree that the front desk personnel need to be taught how to be polite & understanding to his patients.

The first time I had to wait about an hour I and a half in the waiting room and the second time I had to wait two hours. Both times there was more than 5 other patients in the lobby with me also waiting the same amount of time. The receptionists try to brush you off and don't really have much to say aside apologize but the second time I was in they said the doctor was late that morning and delayed all appointments. I completely understand doctors are people too but waits like these are unfair and unprofessional given that people who come see him schedule their days around their appointments. Additionally, I think this doctor is quite old school which is completely respectable but when you come in his office he's still typing up notes from the previous client and all his written notes are performed through a verbal device that writes them for him. I believe this is possibly why his appointment slots take quite longer and as such delay all his appointments for the day. Again, completely respectable but this should be something he should be planning for and possibly not over booking himself. Unfortunately this was the only reference we were able to get with our insurance but just as a heads up for anyone coming to his clinic.

Look like something you would find at the second hand store. I been having headache for a long time and he told me I need to see a psychiatrist. No MRI or even look at my CT scan. I will be filing a complaint with the state license bord.

It is disheartening to know this guy is out there practicing medicine. I read so many terrible…read morereviews about him but thought he really couldn't be THAT bad. Well unfortunately he is. Learn from my expensive and time consuming experience. It was a 3 hour drive, one way, and my son and I both lost a day of work for this. I wanted my son with me and when they called me back, they tricked us by saying they had to get me ready and then they'd come back and get him. (Ended up being nothing to get ready.. was just a lie. They actually out-right lie! What medical professional actually does that? And NO, they never brought him back.... Even though he kept trying to insist) Then a hair net was lightly placed on my head and he told me to take 5 deep breathes. Then he said that I'm fine. I brought up the problems on my MRI and he actually said he doesn't care about MRI's, that he "treats the patient". Sounds nice, but he definitely doesn't "treat the patient". I honestly believe he just wants to keep getting an easy paycheck, even though he clearly should be retired. I'm thinking that if he "does nothing" then he can't get a malpractice suit. He never once moved from his chair in the corner. No blood pressure or exam.. just a hair net that I have absolutely no idea what that was for. (He yelled for an assistant to come take it off my head, which she had put on me when she took me back to his "corner". ) please do yourself a favor, go to someone else... (anyone else has to be better than this)

Upon meeting Dr. Grant two years ago for my evaluation from a back injury I had on the job that Worker's Comp. didn't do anything about he was extremely attentive listener and did a exam on me and told me what his professional opinion was of what I had. He said we had to do EMG to confirm and he would order physical therapy. He was so great during the EMG and yes for me it was painful however he was sensitive to my needs during the process. It confirmed his professional opinion of what I had wrong and we continue to treat with steroid injections. They were amazing! Shortly after meeting Dr. Grant my nausea got really bad I started projectile vomiting I started blacking out I couldn't sleep I had to sleep sitting up. I Continue do follow ups to check in with Dr. Grant to treat my back injury he was very aware and I told him I'd be sent home from the ER four times. I was having really bad migraines worst in my life and Dr. Grant referred me to a neurologist but I couldn't get in for two months and I was also referred to another neurologist by my primary care doctor but also couldn't get in for two months. Long story short Dr. Grant said come back in gave me neck injections in office and if that didn't work he would work around the medical insurance red tape to get me a brain MRI. Something more was wrong so Dr. Grant made the MRI possible because still no availability at the neurologist. I had a call 20 minutes after my Brain MRI from Dr. Grant and poor Dr. Grant bless his heart never having to do this before in his life because he specializes in a different medical field had to tell me I had to rush myself to the ER or call 911 because he didn't know if I would live. I had a huge brain tumor. Dr. Grant had called the hospital ahead of time to make sure the best neurosurgeon in the country was on my case. Can you believe Dr. Grant did all this for me? WOW! After having brain surgery Dr. Grant still did not leave me. Dr. Grant still continue to take care of me evaluate the scar on my head and give me Physical Therapy for my vestibular schwannoma even though he didn't have to do any of these things and even though he could've just given up on me and said well I gave you the referral I did my part it's up to you. I would have DIED. It's because of Dr. grants efforts and listening to me that I am alive today I am so very thankful! I can't believe I found a Doctor who I can say is actually in my corner who fights for me. BTW, the office staff is nice here however making appointments in dealing with the processes aren't all that great that doesn't matter when you have the best doctor in the world thank you Dr. Grant.

I'm definitely glad I found another doctor and didn't get the laser treatment, which would have made my situation even worse than it already is. Today's visit to the ER was frustrating and unacceptable…read more 1. When we checked in, the doctor didn't listen to my 3‑year‑old's lungs, didn't approach him, and didn't perform a basic physical exam. She immediately tried to dismiss his symptoms as "just a virus going around," even though I clearly explained why we came in. My son was in the pool from 12 to 5 yesterday, and a few hours after we got home he started throwing up. He has continued vomiting nonstop all the way through our time in the hospital. 2. Even though his oxygen level was at 96%, that does not justify skipping a lung exam. Oxygen readings only show how he's breathing in that moment they do not rule out aspiration, irritation from pool water, or anything developing in his lungs. Considering the prolonged pool exposure and persistent vomiting, listening to his lungs should have been one of the first steps. We even requested X‑rays, yet no one examined his lungs or took the symptoms seriously. A normal oxygen level does not replace a physical assessment, and it should not be used as an excuse to dismiss what's happening with him. 3. After they gave him a nausea pill, he threw up again in the room. Even though it wasn't a huge amount, it was enough to make him uncomfortable. I politely asked for the sheets to be changed, and I kept thanking the staff member who came in. Instead of responding professionally, she gave me silence and a grudge‑filled look, followed by a comment that "it wasn't even a lot." That kind of attitude is completely inappropriate, especially toward a parent trying to keep their sick child comfortable. 4. We were eventually discharged, and the X‑ray came back clear, but even then, the doctor still hadn't physically checked him until I directly asked her to. Maybe I'm wrong about what's causing his symptoms, but that doesn't dismiss the lack of patient care we experienced. A 3‑year‑old deserves a proper exam, respectful communication, and attention to comfort. None of that happened today. 5. Even with normal results, I'm still not at peace. The lack of care, the dismissive attitude, and the fact that basic steps were skipped make me question whether the staff were acting ethically. A parent shouldn't have to beg for a physical exam or be treated with attitude for asking for clean sheets. The professionalism and patient care we received today were unacceptable. I will continue monitoring my child closely because the way this visit was handled does not give me confidence in the care we received. I just know not to come back here again. I rather take a 30 minute drive to John Muir or go to Kaiser.

I was told I had to see a doctor first, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Connor Byrne and was billed for the visit. Only after that appointment did I find out their physical therapy department does not take my insurance (Blue Shield PPO) and I was referred out to outside providers instead. I don't understand why this was not disclosed when I called initially, because it would have saved me time and money -- I could have gone to my primary care physician for a referral instead of paying for an unnecessary specialist visit. On top of that, the outside PT referrals I was given either weren't accepting patients or had availability pushed out for weeks (earliest was March after my January appointment). If you're calling for physical therapy, ask very clearly whether they take your insurance for PT before scheduling anything.
