I have been treated by two oncologists at Epic Care Antioch. Both refused to investigate whether my sudden affliction with diabetes was treatment induced. They said they didn't know what caused it, but that it definitely was not caused by the treatment they had given me. Both Dr. Pillai and Dr. Tong remained hostile toward me because I doubted their professional opinion. I have a new oncologist now. All of my doctors now attribute my new diabetes as a side effect from cancer treatment. I was right. It was obvious. These two doctors are some very disturbed men who become aggressive and adversarial if their poor skills are questioned and the poor skills do abound. I am convinced I would be dead if I had continued to be treated by Epic Care in Antioch. I swear that I am speaking the truth. If you value your life then you need to stay away from these strange men. read more

After reading some of the negative reviews about doctors here, I am so grateful the I had Dr. Prasad and Dr. Seaver for my doctors. Both were excellent, especially Dr. Prasad. The staff was also fantastic. I am very grateful to all of these people. read more

Dr. Pillai is an uncaring, rude, bigot. My dad has lung cancer and was just treated for a PET scan, when he saw Dr Pillai. My dad was fatigued at the appointment and confused due to some medicine. My mom accompanied him to assist him and Dr Pillai ignored her, belittled her, and yelled at her multiple times. He only wanted to talk to my dad and yet interrupted him when he spoke slowly. When my mom told Dr Pillai to not interrupt my dad he became irritable. He rudely shushed my mom various times when she was asking reasonable questions about possible treatment and timelines. I was on the phone on the other line listening to everything. English is not my mom's first language and she was trying her utmost best to understand him but he was completely unpleasant and exclaimed that he won't change his personality to accommodate patients. He yelled "We're done here!" at both my parents. Either Dr Pillai is misogynist, xenophobic, or just hates his patients. If you're thinking of going to Epic Care please look for other options or at least try to be assigned to a different doctor. Cancer is hard and heartbreaking, there's absolutely no need at all for your oncologist, of all people, to make things worse. read more

Don't do it! If time is of the essence. Waited over 4 months and still couldn't get a PET scan supposedly on stage 4 cancer. I was told I had 4 to 7 years to live. Cause supposedly I have liver cancer,lung cancer,breast cancer or what you call metastatic cancer and a diaphragm. No nutrialist, no lung doctors even after several months of being diagnosed. RUN DONT WALK IT MAKE COST YOU YOUR LIFE! read more

I would like to the time to leave a review about this company . There are so many great people that work here but for the last few months of going here I have witnessed the nurses behavior towards the assistants . It took me a few days to actually feel comfortable enough to finally leave a review. A nurse by the name of Paige is an absolute disgrace to the company , I overheard her refer to one of the assistants as " that black girl " and spoke derogatory terms about her to another nurse. The nurse page was unaware that I was listening in, but after hearing that I was in complete shock and I couldn't wait until my appointment was over with. Please do better with hiring some of these nurses . I've noticed her being completely rude and snobby to the other employees in the facility as well, and it looks as though people are uncomfortable when it comes to speaking up to her. I will not be letting this go, and I will be making sure to take this up higher in the chain of command Is that was absolutely ridiculous . The nurses here also act as though the assistance or anyone else here that are not nurses are below them please talk to staff as this is completely unacceptable. I've heard so many personal conversations in regards to pages life family and most of the time the conversation should not be being happening while on the floor with us patients. read more

I have been coming to Epic everyday for the last 7 weeks....I have one more week to go and then I am done...YAHOO!! My first appointment at Epic was a consultation with a doctor that I will not name. When I left, I was nervous, scared and in tears for the next few days. I had to take anxiety meds just to get through each day with out losing my mind. I asked to switch doctors and met Dr. Beck. OMG what a difference!!! Very sweet and caring man. He knew exactly how I felt and what was going on with me mentally without me saying a word. I have since gone through daily radiation treatments and meet with him once a week so that he can answer any questions that I may have and to see how I am healing. He has made all the difference in the world in what could have been a very scary procedure. From the time you walk into the building until you you leave for the day, you are treated with the upmost care. The receptionists are nothing but sweet and kind, Medical assistants and bubbly and cheerful and the Techs are the best. I could have not made it through this many weeks if it was not for them, their kind words and their sense of humor. David, Heidi, Bryanna and Iris are the best! Radiation can be scary BUT you are in GOOD HANDS here! read more

The great nursing care here (and our continued faith in the Oncologist) have prompted me to upgrade from 2 stars. Cancer sucks, but the nursing staff here does not. The nursing staff and oncologist have been exceptionally wonderful, and we especially loved Sandra- a no-nonsense head nurse. Yet another recent round of problems with Admin, at another crucial time, was really disappointing. Tests results were once again sent to the wrong Doctors. They delayed following up on crucial, time sensitive test orders for over a week- although they said they'd been 'working on it'. It is unbelievable to me how little follow up there seems to be for urgent matters. The added stress to the patient because of their lackadaisical attitudes has been very upsetting. Be sure to follow up every single day if you are waiting for something important. Take names and make notes. That is your only hope for things to be done in a timely manner, and even then, we didn't have success because we were told conflicting things. :( MOST IMPORTANTLY: My advice is to be prepared. Without fail, you MUST Have them give you your OWN set of copies of *everything* so that you can carry the records with you to appointments. This is 100% necessary. Trust me. read more

The staff at Epic Care in Antioch provided me an exceptional level of care in their treatment. As a patient I found them helpful, thoughtful and calm in a great way. Going there for the first appointment was a little scary - going back after the treatments began was so easy it really became relaxing. The entire staff, from the front desk, to the nurses, to the radiology techs, to the doctors - everyone was terrific. I went in today to see Dr. Choi and I found her and the staff at Epic Care to be super amazing especially Victoria. Victoria went out of her way to find a chair to fit me better after she noticed me trying to squeeze (like a lemon in a jar) into the chairs in the office. Lack of communication by the staff to patients. I don't see how it's so hard to call a patient back about appointments and an explanation of these appointments. Checking into the front desk was ok but when it's my first time there, please extend common courtesy and ask if I know how to get to the infusion center. I went back to front desk and asked for help, just to be followed by a "oh ok, yeah I can show you." I wasn't asking for a life altering answer just assistance to save my life.... Not sure if I want to come back to this location. If there are alternative centers, look into those before deciding on this location. read more

Everything about Epic Care has been good for me. Smiling faces at the front desk, phone calls returned promptly, Doctors taking as much time as needed to explain everything to me, nurses and staff always so nice and caring, and super sweet infusion staff. Lymphoma is awful, but I am so glad I am being treated at this facility. Dr. Choi is an amazing doctor, and Dr. Tong has been great to me while she has been gone. read more

I love everything about Epic. Its wonderful to walk in somewhere when you are feeling crappy and they greet you by name and with a smile. Everything from the front desk to the radiation techs, the chemo nurses to the Drs and NPs is awesome. My mother is a patient here, her oncologist is Margret Seaver whom is really sweet. She puts in the extra effort to make her patients comfortable. Answers my millions of questions as I am my mother's advocate. She takes her time in explaining what's going on and why. Not to say the staff and doctor that had my care was not nice would be wrong of me to say or claim. However, nice and proper treatment/timely treatment are two different things!!!! It took months (2 exactly) to take and communicate results of test on what was already known as cancer. The timeliness or importance was lacking making sure treatment was given in my opinion was the downfall... After waiting to get the results and another month to see the right surgeon (total of two months) finding out if it can be removed it not was anything but comforting... Here is the frustrating part. After waiting the second month to see the surgeon and many sleepless nights, the surgeon was never provided with the results/scans/reports from the two months of testing that slowly dragged on and he couldn't tell me. Still after knowing for two months I have cancer and waiting so long to see the surgeon for five minutes saying he couldn't tell me anything was devastating and a huge loss of trust in the care I was not receiving. However that didn't stop the bills from coming in or me paying them. They got their money for substandard care and I never got one ounce of treatment only false hope. I since have found care at UCSF Medical Center and have not regretted one thing about the decision.. Their knowledge, care, and wiliness to be aggressive just gives me more and more hope I will beat this.... Logistics means nothing my life means everything to me and my family.... I'm am not a person that believes in writing bad things about people or an organization, however in my opinion, and only my opinion I believe more could have been done besides having an effective billing department... read more

IIn 2011 my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After three chemo sessions, the last of which she infused with two agents at the same time causing her body to immediately vacate giving the infusion staff cause to joke and laugh, she was informed by her surgeon in Berkeley that the tumor had grown - the chemo treatments DID NOT shrink the tumors but moreover she was not ready for surgery due to her sodium being too low - the day before scheduled surgery she was brought to the Berkeley Sutter Hsp and treated with massive doses of medication to increase her salt level in order to even have surgery. Did someone identify and use the wrong chemo cocktail - absolutely. (My wife's first chemo treatment was applied while she was still directed to take a prescribed medication that 'seemingly' caused this ovarian cancer!!!) The surgery took place in late Aug, 2011 and as is normal, Lymph nodes are taken for biopsies, there is a risk of Lymphadema that is SO downplayed. Yes, there is a risk of Lymphadema for Breast Cancer patients. In Sept 2011 my wife is directed back to Epic Care for further treatment which she refused the appliation of three additional chemo treatments after a nasty attempt at having a port installed BEFORE the surgery ... my wife received a phone call the day before her surgery pleading her to have this port installed, too bad she was already at the hospital having her sodium level raised so she could even have the surgery - she was called at the hospital in Berkeley, I received a call at my home pleading me to persuade her to have this port installed - both calls were billable items that cost us hundreds and hundreds of dollars. My wife refused to have more chemo, the chemo did not work originally, the tumor still grew while this liquid kill-all was infused into her body for three months... the Oncologist stated many things during the meeting with him after the surgery - he started with one more treatment but he ended up stating three more chemo treatments were necessary to reduce the chance of CANCER coming back and they were to infuse the same cocktail as before the surgery. We came back to Epic Care for a tingling and swelling of my wife's feet and ankles in October of 2011 and got blown off with the 'nothing to be concerned about' line from the Oncologist, in November the feet, ankles and lower calves were swelling and we got the same thing - nothing to worry about, and in December a visit to Epic Care got us the same prognosis ..... In Jan 2012 we paid for a scan that identified Lymphadema as the cause for this swelling - body fluid retention, no, this is not water, and much worse is this is a life long disease. It is now September 2014 and my wife's weight has increased by over 110 pounds, she can hardly walk and the last blood test we had to have for Epic Care follow up of her cancer did not include the CA-125 count cause none was selected on the blood test form. The Oncologist apologized for not selecting the blood test to include the CA-125 count. Trust me - there is more but this is long enough already. Cancer treatment IS A Business. read more
