I am surprised by the negative reviews here. I have had no bad experiences with Dr. Zeiger and he has made several good diagnoses that have made a difference in my quality of life and life span. He is willing to work on a problem until there is a solution. On the other hand, he has made a couple of referrals to specialists, one of which was life saving. Who cares about communication skills or related matters if the individual with whom you have placed your health and well being is a stand up, square shooter and an excellent doctor. And yes, his practice is full but, IMHO, he is worth the wait if your needs are not urgent. read more

I've been his patient for 8 years. Best doctor I ever had. He listens to you carefully and thinks deeply about what he hears. He takes everything seriously. He then formulates a plan and explains it fully. The staff follows up with a call after any test results come back and he follows up with another appointment if needed. Nothing gets dropped. The next time you see him, he's fully up on your case. I find him to be terrific personality-wise, but he is all business until the medical issues are fully addressed. I'm never nervous about my health because of my full confidence in Dr. Zeiger. read more

This doctor thinks he walks on water...... he has no personality, time to listen to what you have to say or ask and a decent personality. He is too busy to speak with you calmly and caring. Just take all these tests and with the results he might actually get to know a bit about you before you go under.... If you are considering him as your doctor, you can do better, much better..... keep looking. This one has the personality of a moose. read more

If there were "0" stars, that's what Dr. Zeiger would get. Rather than vent about his unbelievably poor bedside manner, I'll focus on the overall experience. This Dr's office is shared by a group, straight out of the 1970s, in appearance, attitude and self-eliteness. If you go here, expect to: - travel a phone tree for 10 minutes to leave a message - wait for well over an hour - be weighed on an ancient scale for everyone to see - deal with a Dr. that will repeatedly remind you he's out of time - chastise you for contacting him via email - call you stupid if you don't understand your full insurance coverage - only see you for exactly what you made the appointment for (remember, he's an important guy & in a hurry, no extra questions please) All this (ooohhh, what a great package)... but on top of it? Not a good doctor. Dr. Zeiger is out of touch with human care and shows the compassion of a watermelon. The staff is always unhappy, and there are just no good vibes coming from anywhere here. Going to the Doctor isn't anyone's favorite, but going here is awful. read more

I'm not sure about one of the negative reviews posted here, but I can honestly say Dr Z is wonderful. I've been in his care for a number of years and I really do feel that my level of care has dramatically improved under his guidance. Two years ago I had neck surgery (fusion) and Dr Z visited me a number of times which was totally unexpected. I cannot speak for others but I'm a fan. Thanks for taking good care of me. read more

I needed a new Doctor -- I was annoyed with my old one -- and found Dr Zeiger. Went in for a full check up at 50 and while nothing was really a surprise, he was just very matter of fact -- we're going to deal with these issues A, B, and C. No b.s., no guilt, just "this is what I do and this is why you are here." Anyway, nice staff too. Glad I found him. read more

The John Muir website indicates falsely that Dr. Zeiger is accepting new patients. I called his office for an appointment and after waiting 2 weeks was informed that he is unable to accept me as a new patient. I am actually a former patient of his who wanted to start seeing him again. I guess he is not of the same mind... read more

Dr. Zeiger is an AMAZING doctor...I would refer him to anyone needing a great internal medicine physician. He is compassionate and caring. And he is VERY smart! I can't believe ANYONE would write a negative comment. He has called me at home, after hours to give me advice on questions I had. He is truly a great doctor! read more

I feel that I was reprimanded for not proceeding with expensive diagnostic test referrals from a prior appointment and was also made to feel like I was an addict because I asked for a refill of 20 migraine pills which had lasted me an entire year. He's a smart guy for sure but I don't like interacting with him. read more

No one's perfect, if they were I would give Doc Zeiger 5 stars. Reading through the one negative review it sounds like the woman who left the negative feedback needed an entirely different type of doctor. Hmmm..... maybe a psychotherapist. He is efficient and doesn't waste my time. I always get polite straight forward advice. Any question I've asked I was given a on the spot description of what he felt was going on, advice and then a referral if required. We have even compared notes about our children's sports. H is a good guy and a very knowledgeable doctor. read more

Dr. Zeiger is perhaps the best all-around practitioner that I've had in my 50+years. I rarely have difficulty getting an immediate appt when I need it. He spends as much time with me that I need, I never feel rushed. His exams are very thorough. He offers good solutions to issues and has a calming bedside manner. I can't recommend him any more highly. Perhaps his reception staff could be a little warmer/friendlier, but that's about all I can suggest in terms of improvement. read more

I am truly flummoxed by the negative reviews. Dr. Zeiger is an exceptional physician. I first went to him 15 years ago when the physician I was scheduled to see was not available. I presented him with a list of (to my mind) seemingly unrelated symptoms and he methodically examined me, asked lots of questions, and developed a plan. To make a long story short, his relentless efforts led to the discovery of a very serious ailment. He got me to absolutely the best specialists for treatment. I credit him with helping to save my life. He has become the doctor for my entire family. My wife is herself a medical professional and we are in agreement that Dr. Zeiger is a model of what a family/primary physician should be. He is exceptionally attentive, ensuring he understands your concerns. He treats you himself or refers to exceptional specialists as appropriate. He seems to thrive on pursuing an answer and has developed a test protocol to evaluate something where there was no standard method available. In treatment he choses the most conservative approach first to see if that resolves the problem. He is very concerned with his patients emotional well-being as an element of treatment. Whether dealing with my wife and myself or our children, he provides the same respectful and thoughtful approach. We have recommended him to friends and their feelings are similar. Some of the negative comments are bizarre and one has to wonder if they are real. It is a comfortable waiting area, albeit not lavish. "Weighed on an antique scale for all to see"? Yes, you are weighed, but is in an interior area where only staff would see. The staff is very friendly an attentive. Were more than five stars available he would get them. read more

Surprised to see the negative reviews - wondering if they were meant for a different Dr. Zeiger (there are quite a few in CA). In any case, I have been in Dr. Z's care for nearly 20 years and have never had a better physician. He's kept me running through 4 major surgeries and countless minor medical issues. Dr. Z. is dedicated, intelligent, well informed, and a clear thinker and highly effective diagnostician. The excellent health I'm enjoying in my 7th decade is in no small part due to his skill and I would recommend him without reservation. read more

Wow! I'm quite surprised to read the negative and somewhat over the top review regarding Dr. Zeiger. He has been my physician for a number of years and I found him to be very thorough, caring, respectful and spends time talking with you...I have never felt rushed. He's one of the best doctors I've had over the years. I think perhaps Dr. Zeiger should write a review (of course with his integrity he wouldn't) on his former patient and I sure we would get a better and more accurate depiction on what really happened. read more

Dr. Zeiger is the most thorough physician I have even dealt with. He spent a LOT of time with me, asking me very strategic questions to uncover what might be my gastrointestinal issue. Our whole family sees him, and we are all very pleased. My mother-in-law who speaks limited English loves him, due in part to his patience and the respect with which he treats her. I am very surprised at the negative reviews here because none of us have had anything but good experiences at the office, which is in an older building but otherwise is very modern and technologically advanced. read more

I don't usually write reviews but was shocked to see a negative post for Dr. Zeiger. I think he's terrific: smart, accessible, caring, professional... I have never felt rushed or ignored at his office. I have a lot of doctors in my family, so poor Dr. Zeiger has on a couple of occasions had to explain my ailments to a bevy of critics. I was surprised to read previous review. I have had exact opposite experience. When my father was passing away, Dr. Zeiger listened and was very supportive. I later had major 5 hr surgery on my neck by an ortho surgeon at John Muir Hospital. Dr. Zeiger saw my name on the J Muir patient list and came by about 8 pm just to say hello. He can behind time but always has taken the time to sit and listen. Others I know who have gone to him agree. read more

I see why Maureen B tried to see a doctor, she is a nut. I am a patient of Dr Zeiger and have found him and his staff to be totally professional. It is very easy to make an appointment. The staff is awesome and always makes sure that you get your appointment and that you see the doctor on time. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for Doctor Zeiger, even though he takes the time to "listen" to your issues which is so great in today's world of "fast" medicine. I have a lot of medical issues and he takes the time to deal with me each time as a professional should, explaining the problems and what we can do resolve them. He orders the appropriate tests but does not "OVERDO IT"! He calls me at home to make sure that I am okay and that the medicines are working. When I was hospitalized suddenly he came to the hospital to make sure that I was OK and that Iwas receiving the proper treatment. I would recommend him and have to all of my family and friends. I have been seeing Dr. Zeiger for several years. He pulled me out of the depths of 'delayed maintenance' and got me all the referrals/services I needed to fix me up. He listened to all of my complaints, then addressed the most important first, and continued on until all problems were eventually solved - there were many. When you make the appointment and when you are given the 'complaint' list sheet of paper, just list all your complaints up front and he will address. The scale is inside the patient room hallway, so you are not seen by all - just staff. I guess my one complaint is that It is a bit hard to get hold of them at times. Overall I love Dr. Zeiger and I do think he is a very caring person - he has helped me a lot and knows what he's doing. His nurse has been with him a long time and does a good job. I agree it is not the most outgoing, friendly office but it is a shared resource between doctors; they are not rude or surly and are efficient and caring. Dr. Zeiger has never been disrespectful to me nor has his staff. read more
