Went to Strath on a busy Friday night and unfortunately the menu wasn't fully updated as they were sold out of the nitro crème brûlée. But that didn't get us down, we had very quick service and some amazing food - the cauliflower in particular was delicious! It was a really fun vibe for a Friday night and I'll definitely be back! Love the pizza at Strathcona Brewery. My wife and I have been going there for the past eight years, but the last two times we visited the music was so loud we had to shout to be heard. I said to the server, "It's very loud in here" and she shouted back, "Yeah, it is". I might add this was at 4:00 p.m. with the place half full, families with young children, too. This weekend, I grabbed some friends to check out Stathcona Brewery Week. Really liked Strathcona Beer Company's sours and radlers. Had the flight of Beach (lemon & Mandarin and so good), Big Sexy Funk ( dry, hazy IPA with tropical notes) and Beach Light (grapefruit radler and so refreshing). On a warm day, this flight filled my need for an easy summery drink. Sat on the "patio" which is the street side Hastings Street. We took our time and never felt rushed out. The inside vibe is easy cool like sit back and relax. Spacious interior with well defined sections. Service was friendly and fast. Pizza, salad, sando and snacks were offered but we didn't eat. Definitely, will be coming back for their flavourful sours and radler beers. read more

The ambience was nice and casual, the staff was friendly and the choices were pretty great. I got cherry bomb, an ice cream float in beer. It was amazing! I would recommend it. It was a special event. We proceeded to have their pickle pizza. It was unique and delicious. We decided to do Strathcona on our brew tour and we should have started with this pace. The beer was ok in comparison to the other breweries we went to (SuperFlux, East Van Brewery). The place is very chill and has great vibes. Outside lights are strung through pallets on the ceiling and long family style tables. The toilets were clean and the space was pretty big. I love their marketing on the packaged beer cans. Super fun colors and really bold attractions. We got the Pilsner and "Love Buzz" Raspberry Hibiscus and they were nice beers (but not on the same level as the other breweries unfortunately). What had me also wishing we hit this place first was the PIZZA (and they had vegan options which I absolutely appreciate). The food looked amazing. One of our friends got the popcorn and it came in a movie theater bucket. He said they were really buttery (a positive!) but came cold and he was hoping it would be warm. Slamming busy of a September Friday evening. 20 minute wait for a table. Room is 3 bombs loud / noisy. Greeter is nice guy. Keeps us informed about an upcoming table. Bambie and I order a vege pizza, seasonal salad and a kale salad. I get a pale ale and Bambie gets a glass of red blend BC wine. Drinks are handed to me at the bar. Food takes 14 minutes to arrive. Beer is crisp and slightly fruity from hops. Visually a little murky bright yellow. Pizza is crisp and tasty. Salads are pretty huge. They are also full of interesting ingredients. Greens are crisp and fresh. Dressings are piquant without any cloying sweetness. Dollar for value, this is a good meal. Be aware that pizza and salads are the only menu items here. read more

We came here for beers after dinner as it was open late on a weekend. Due to covid, they have limited seating so during busy times, it might be difficult to get a spot. However, we got lucky and were seated in about 15-20 minutes. Their last call is about an hour before closing so make sure you arrive before then. We got a flight to try and ended up getting a pack of their Imperial Love Buzz to go as we liked it so much. I did wish the flight came in a paddle but that's a minor detail. Bathrooms are clean and the servers leave you alone for the most part. Note, if you have 100 points on the BC Ale Trail app, you can redeem it for a free branded glass. read more

Looks like the craft beer zone in Vancouver is getting slightly bigger. Parking is available along the side streets, as well as on Hastings. The inside is mostly bare concrete, but it has a very modern look. The coloured lights give it a rather funky feel. Reminds me of neon. The venue is split into a restaurant area and a bar area. They serve food here such as pizzas, but I haven't tried. One of the larger seating areas for a craft place around here. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially when I was having trouble deciding what to try. Beers here are a bit pricier (especially the radler), but overall they taste quite good. The flights are served on what look like mini surfboards, with an embedded magnet. Most importantly, they have a wide selection, from lagers to ales and sours. This is one of my new go to places for good beer. Recommended. read more

Came for the beer, really enjoyed the pizza. The staff were super friendly and efficient so we weren't too long without a drink or our bill at the end of our visit. We ordered their Hawaiian pizza - which was interesting with the creamy jalapeno sauce and the addition of pistachios. This brewery came recommended by our Airbnb hosts. It is within walking distance (about 3 blocks) from the house. We walked in on a Friday night around 7:30 and the place is absolutely packed to the gills! We waited for about 10 minutes. The greeter was very pleasant and kept checking on us while we waited. You order at the bar for both your pizza and drinks. There are several different selections of pizza, lots of beer choices, one red wine choice, and several salads. The food was delivered within 10 minutes tops. The two salads were delicious and very generous. We tried the seasonal salad, which came with about 6 big beet slices, goat cheese and greens, and also the kale Caesar, which was also a very generous serving. Both salads were delicious and fresh. We ordered the veggie pizza and it had a great crispy crust, lots of veggies and to my liking, was not loaded with too much cheese. The staff is friendly, which was probably the highlight. They were helpful and down to answer some questions I had about the menu. Although I asked my server what she might recommend and she said she hasn't tried many of them so she wasn't sure. I thought that was a bit odd. Our service itself was pretty fast. I had the veggie pizza and it was pretty good! No problems with the food at all. The location is spacious, but the decor seemed very clinical to me. The bar is like a white countertop and I thought maybe if I lie down on it they would clean my teeth or examine me. When I went they had basically all IPAs and I think one Red Ale and a Radler? I was very surprised and disappointed with the lack of variety. I think I didn't realize that it was all going to be on the lighter side and if I had known this beforehand I probably wouldn't have come in. Strathcona Beer Company is a cool, nicely decorated hipster brewery in East Vancouver. I came here with a few friends to checkout this place on a Sunday late afternoon. We were a big group so we made a reservation. Staff were alright, I didn't find them particularly attentive. The ordering system here is that you go up and pay, there's no actual formal table service after you are seated. This was a bit confusing since nobody ever mentioned this once we were seated, and we weren't handed any menus either. I think they could definitely do a better job explaining how the system. One of the recommended drinks is the Beach Radler, which is a light beer that has a touch of lemion and fresh mandarin juice. I wasn't intially sure if I would like it, but I have to say that it's a pretty nice and refreshing drink for the summer. Drink was complemented with a nice Hawaiian pizza that we shared. Taste was pretty good, but it was awkwardly hard to cuz and it seemed to fall apart every time I picked it up, so I used a fork and knife instead. Not a major issue, but I don't think pizza should be falling apart when you eat it, especially when the food and drinks are slightly pricey. Overall, I give this place 3.5 (bumped up rating wise to a 4 since I think the drinks here are unique and really good). Good atmosphere, but service is kinda meh, but the important part is that the drinks (and food, to an extent) make up for it. Best to make reservations before coming here as it is pretty busy. read more

We were on our way to Prototype Coffee and happened on this craft brewery. It looked super cute so we stopped by for a flight of beers. We grabbed one of the Crispy radlers, a mango hefe, the Sunday cider and one of the IPAs. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I liked all of them. I think the beers we chose leaned towards a fruitier, cleaner, crisp flavour, which I enjoyed very much. I typically don't like IPAs since I find them too hoppy for me, but the one we had had a clean citrus taste that offset the hoppiness for me. If I were in the area again I'd definitely go in for a couple of beers! read more

It's not the best pizza in town, but it's perfect when you've had a few drinks. I'm not a huge beer drinker so I can't comment much on the brews (though my boyfriend has gone back for growler fills on the IPA and seems to like it). Overall, not a bad experience at the Strathcona Beer Company. I'm in from out of town visiting my sister who lives a few blocks away from this place. She said it recently opened up so we went to check it out. The decor is cool, not what I expected from the outside. Service is a bit odd; there were 4 other customers aside from us and what seemed like 4 staff (not including kitchen), we had 2 different people come to our table right at the start to tell us to go order at the bar when we're ready. Seems like from the time it took them to tell us that, they could have just gone the extra mile and taken our order. But overall not unfriendly staff if you're friendly to them. The prices are pretty high, especially for this neighbourhood. It means that most of the residents living here wouldn't be able to enjoy this place. The bill came to $54 for 2 of us: 2 pizzas and 2 pints of cider. Not unreasonable but not super adorable for a chill night with a friend. I did notice they have a happy hour which is great! Perhaps they could add in a "cheap night" each week so the locals could go more regularly. Cinder was good but not the best I've had. Pizza was excellent, could use a little salt (would've asked one of the staff but no one came to check on us after we received our food). I would recommend checking out the SBC for yourself. read more

I seriously love Strathcona Beer Company for its decor, vibe, beer and food (those pizza pies!). I've only been here once in my life but I am heading back there this weekend for a friends bday so I'm looking quite forward to it. A couple friends and I were seeing a show at The Astoria, so before it started we popped over to Strathcona (sure it's not the nicest neighbourhood) but what a funky joint. The neon lights inside took me straight back to the movie Drive. The music too, it was different, kind of 80s synthpoppy aka my kind of jams. I ordered the Winter Radler and a bowl of popcorn - the beer was delish, the popcorn could have done without the Parmesan cheese but I applaud them for wanting to elevate popcorn. I too love experimenting with different flavour profiles on popcorn, Franks Red Sauce anyone? My friends ordered the mushroom pizza and the pepperoni to which I was fed the scraps, and let me tell you! This pizza was great! Two thumbs up for Strathcona and a big high five! read more

This is my go-to spot for picking up Superflux off-sales cans, which you'll find in the fridge at the front. The beer selection is ok. I wouldn't say that any of their own beers stand out. I do like the British IPA and the Cherry High Ale, however. The food menu is limited to salads and pizzas, and they do a decent job of those, albeit a little pricey. The beer prices are high. At the corner of 895 E Hastings and Campbell Ave is a 12,000 sqft brewery complete with ample seating (long communal tables and diner booths), a pizza station and even a growler takeout area. The windows around the brewery slides open fully for that breezy summer's air to flow through. Four different types of beer Belgian Ale Kolsch / Lemon Radler India Session Ale India Pale Ale My favorite was the smooth Strathcona Gold and the crisp Kolsch. It's only been a few weeks since Strathcona Beer Company has opened, but everything seems promising. There is definitely no shortage to this craft beer craze in Vancouver! The aptly named Strathcona Beer Company opened its doors last week serving the public for the very first time. A couple simple things feel immediately clear about the business and their local moniker: they aim to reflect the style of the neighbourhood they inhabit and serve craft beer accordingly. Inside, the 12,000 square foot brewery is rather spacious featuring a corner art space, large windows peering into the impressive brewing tanks, an ample merch section, dedicated growler and takeout pizza station, classic bar, communal tables, and diner style booths all within the tasting room. My first taste and, so far, the out and out highlight was their Strathcona Gold brew, a creamy Belgian ale, with a vibrant colour and composition. I found it quite smooth, malty, and refreshing. It's their signature ale available in some amusingly designed 40oz. solid black with gold trim bottles (appropriately nuzzled inside a brown paper bag when purchased). SBC debuted with four different blends: a Kölsch-based lemon radler, India session ale, Strathcona India pale ale, and the aforementioned gold. These were fairly standard and appealing on first taste off the bat. As far as the pizza goes, we tried their no-nonsense meat pizza (with tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, capicola, pepperoni, and padano). It was thin, crisp, and tastily hearty if a little authentically greasy. It was a nice mix between traditional neapolitan style and your neighbourhood takeout pizzeria. It especially paired fairly well with the selection of beers. Strathcona Beer Company is off to a promising start with its trim design, execution, and construction. The space and brewery already has so much greater potential and not just the beer they will serve. Let's see the role they'll play in the neighbourhood as an amiable watering hole in addition to a social gathering place for artist types and the members of the community to grab a beer and slice. read more

I used to love your place! It's in out neighborhood, beer & pizza are great.....but the guy with the 'man bun' is such a jerk. We seen him before and even tipped him well when he poured us beers. Went there on a busy Saturday (25th) afternoon with my wife and daughter, to meet a friend and his daughter. There wasn't enough seating for all of us; but we waited around anyways. 35 minutes in, half of us are sitting and eating, the other half standing and waiting for seating. A table opens up and we proceed to move all of us over and the jerk door man tells us he promised it to a couple that just walked in. Meh- Space is awkward and confusing. Concrete half-height partition walls don't really make sense. No real flow. Points for the Windows the open up. Staff made a point of not being too friendly or welcoming even though we were the only ones in there. All can be overlooked if the beer is good. So onto the beer itself - it's just ok imo. We tried all on the list and nothing really stood out. Being spoilt with all the breweries, something has to stand out. Better options elsewhere. Is it a destination brewery? Not really. If in the area, it's maybe worth a visit. Give it some time, might improve. Didn't try the pizza, but looks like to could be good. read more

We love this brewery and after reading through some rather bad reviews from when they first opened I hope this will help those considering a visit! My husband and I have lived in East Van for years (Not in Strathcona) but recently moved just down the street from this brewery. Our first visit was fantastic: Pizza is incredible, only place better is Via Tevere. Order the meatballs too you won't regret it. Start with the Kale salad, they make kale taste amazing! I discovered my new fave Vancouver beer here, Strathcona gold. Absolutely delicious. I also love that their IPAs are British style and actually drinkable, not the soapy mess PNW IPAs have become. But the kicker for us was the service. Our server was SO friendly he made us feel at home and on finding out we live in the area gave us a locals card for 10% off. For once we didn't feel out of place in a hipster brewery in Vancouver. Thank you. We now walk to the brewery at least once a week for beer and pizza, the servers always remember us and make an effort. read more
