I rented a property on December 8 signing a lease that was fully executed and legally ratified and gave the owner a security deposit. Over the past two months we coordinated my move with the owner making sure the utilities were in my name and making arrangements to pick up the key on the move in date which is February 1. My family made arrangements to fly in to help me with the move and I paid a mover as well. There were a great deal of arrangements that were necessary and I forwarded my mail. This last Friday less than a week before my move I received a casual email from the landlord that she would not be allowing me to move in. She gave no excuses or reasons. I found out that she had actually sold the house and never took it off the market during the period of time that she showed me the house, executed the lease, took the security deposit, and coordinate my move. Thinking that she had an obligation to at least tell her buyer, the title company, the broker, and all associated contacts, I contacted the Harcourt Garner group to try to gain some assistance. They would do nothing! They referred me to their attorney who stonewalled me at every juncture. They are unethical and a bad neighborhood and community partners.
