First time here. I have been making an extra effort to shop at small, local businesses. Parked close by. Lots to see in this small shop. Loved everything. Lots of gift ideas for everyone on your list. I was looking for a cat ornament and novelty boxers for hubby. Didn't find either. I did buy gloves for myself and BFF. Would have bought more but they were out of black. Went to the L st. Location. No parking nearby which I'm usually fine walking but, sorry to say, there were some sketchy individuals milling around so I skipped it. Will go another time. A worthy trip. read more

We did have to wait in line to get in due to social distancing rules in Sacramento County AND the turnout! It was worth the wait! The Strapping Store is a great place to go to for gifts and knickknacks you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else! Like a RuPaul To Do List, YAAASSSSS!!!!! I came in on a Friday morning/noon there was parking on the street on broadway. I know street parking is a bit tough but I've always been able to find some parking on that street by old soul and where that nursery is at. When I came in I was greeted by Susan. I was just looking around and just curious with what this store had to offer. If you are looking for affordable super cute, funny greeting cards they have it! I happened to buy a card for my friend's who were getting married over the weekend. They have such a broad collection of items and even have some furniture that you could actually get for cheaper than online (saw this on IG). Susan was very helpful and so kind that it really makes shopping here enjoyable. Plus shopping local is always a good thing. read more

Definitely want to give this place zero stars but no option for it. At first, I was intrigued by the store with the cool little trinkets and it was one of the few places opened on a Monday in Oak Park. Then, once we arrived, NO GREETING AT ALL! Ridiculous. The employees were talking and my husband said they only greeted him, who's white. Unbelievable,. Definitely DON'T come here. They say we love ya ("We f*in love you") as their slogan, but clearly they only love white people. In spite of Oak Park being a black neighborhood, clearly this store doesn't treat everyone equally and care about black people. Not only did they have NON-EXISTENT customer service, rather selective customer service, they also had very overpriced, touristy stuff that wasn't local products. Definitely if you want excellent customer service with local products, head to Underground Books. I felt very disrespected at Strapping and will never come here again. Very bad. I was able to find this amazing store through Instagram and I am glad I did. They have a variety of gifts for anyone and any occasion, all at affordable prices too! Socks, stickers, notebooks, signs, mugs, glasses, toys for kids, anything and everything. I went in to buy a couple of gifts for friends birthdays and had to stop myself from still looking around because I wanted keep buying things. Street parking. Clean interior. Hand sanitizer available at the counter. Very few staff, and they do not wear a mask. Compared to the Midtown location, this location is bigger and has a larger catalog of items. Not much inventory for otaku or anime merchandise, if that's what you're looking for. It is a nice experience to walk in and browse though. read more

I am so happy to have such an amazing gift shop within walking distance (midtown location). If for some reason they don't have what you're looking for, then the Oak Park location is likely to have it. Each of their storefronts are very welcoming and have inclusive vibes. All are welcome (especially dogs). My dog Jefe knows when we are a block away and will drag me in because he knows who has the treats. While he is scarfing it down, I get to look around and shop. The service is above and beyond. There has been an occasion when the midtown location didn't have something but they knew that Oak Park did. They offered to bring it over for me! Wow! I highly recommend shopping here for gifts for your friends and loved ones. The selection of thoughtful cards and gifts very broad. You can find something for everyone. The prices are extremely reasonable. I always look forward to the holiday season. It's a great one stop shop for all of your gift needs! I recommend starting early! I love this store. They're also decked out for the holiday, so it's an awesome place to check out around this time of year. This spot has a great selection of Sactown paraphernalia as well as California more broadly. There's a nicely curated area with baby and toddler stuff, great cards (including holiday boxed sets), a modest but pretty jewelry section showcasing local artists, gay pride everything, anything you'd need for a uniquely-wrapped holiday gift, candies, socks, pet accessories, funny yet tasteful housewares...the list goes on! When I went inside it was a store with little things you could buy for parties or fun interesting things you could decorate your home with. Before I get long-winded, let me just say this: this place and their employees are so good, they made my lazy self feel the need to leave a review. I've never had less than awesome service. Hella friendly staff that chats with you but doesn't hover or get pushy about making sales. They are just chill and fun people. I apologized once because I didn't understand what one employee said because I'm hard of hearing, and the employee said to never apologize for that and they were probably too quiet anyways. Plus, they put up (more than once) with my making numerous small separate purchases since I was trying to buy gifts without my partner noticing that I was buying things for them. The store selection is pretty fantastic also. There's everything from cheesy, snarky socks and stickers to beautiful glass jarred candles and drinkware. You can literally buy gifts for your whole family and their pets here, as long as your family isn't boring and actually has a sense of style and humor. The layout isn't cramped, there's a good flow to the store, and you're not going to find the same boring ish that is found everywhere else here. So, to summarize: Strapping is awesome. Love this place. All the locations are great. Staff is super friendly and just a bright light! I have spent more money than I care to admit in these stores . They are my go to for any kind of gift or Knick knack. They can be a bit pricey but the quality is great. There is mix of local vendors and not so local vendors. The owner, Susan is great. She is so generous and cares about the community. She has made amazing donation baskets for my children's school, for fundraisers and family events. She always goes above and beyond. I came in from out of town and was looking for a specific item I saw online. They didn't have it in the store, but Susan called and found out they had it in the warehouse and arranged to have it brought to the store and I was able to come back and get it within an hour. What a fun store! My cousin has tried numerous times to get me in here, and I finally made it after embarrassingly realizing its really not that far from home. Super cool knick knacks, baby and children's items of all sorts, coin purses and pouches galore, greeting cards for any occasion, socks, magnets, jewelry and accessories for all, home gifts, kitchenware, furniture... you can find pretty much anything in this store for anyone on your list whether down for profane coasters or would rather entertain buttoned up items. Great gift shop! Went to both locations in the Sacramento area and had a blast looking through their selections each time. Staff are ALWAYS super fun, chill, and great to talk to. Though they offer help, I just take my time going around the store hoping to find some nice gifts/trinkets for friends. They have things ranging from cool coasters to "white paw" dog toys - both of which I've gotten for friends. If you need a cool, thoughtful, or funny gift for someone, I would recommend going to Strapping! Prices are also fair, which is always a big plus. read more

This is my favorite place in the entire city. Pre-Covid, sometimes I'd just pop in to cheer myself up. The staff is always so nice and helpful. But the things. OMG THE THINGS IN THIS STORE! There is so much fun stuff, interesting stuff, useful stuff.......all kinds of stuff! Strapping has become my go-to for gift giving because you will ALWAYS ALWAYS find a unique/funny/thoughtful gift for someone here. With Covid I've been trying to send my friends more snail mail, and I always find amazing cards for them. At Christmas, I was able to find several extremely unique gifts for friends and family. They always have a really great selection of "Sacramento" gear from shirts to hoodies to glassware.
