This is one of my favorite parks in the KC area! The parking is super easy and fenced completely off from the play area so there's less worry about wanderers. The bathrooms are clean and have always been in working order when we came. The family bathrooms also include a buddy seat, a changing table and a larger changing table rated up to 400 pounds. There's a good amount of seating placed throughout the park as well as a couple of picnic tables. I am impressed with their play structures. There are different parts that are wheelchair accessible, and you can get to most of the play structure without having to climb. There's a separate area that's more geared towards toddlers and there are just tons of different things to play with including musical instruments and a small inground trampoline, which my kid loves! read more

When a friend suggested bringing the kids here to play on a nice fall evening, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Growing up in Overland Park I have a sense for what neighborhood parks are like and while my friend had told me this was was "the best" and "amazing" I wasn't sure what to believe. The crazy thing about this place, is that it actually blew all of my expectations out of the water. First of all, it's only about 10 minutes or less from my house. Having a three year old I thought I'd visited all of the parks nearby, or at least had a grasp on what the park options were, turns out I'm wrong and it honestly has me wondering what other hidden gems lie in my own backyard. When maps directed me here, I was first of all shocked at how packed it was. This was my first clue that I had happened upon the holy grail of parks in OP. I naively pulled into the fairly large lot, only to circle it once and give up. It was packed and folks were circling like vultures to get a spot. I suppose this is what happens when you try to go to the best part in the area at 4pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. No problem though, as it really is truly a neighborhood park, and likely much to the chagrin of nearby inhabitants, I found a spot on a side street amongst several other cars that had also parked to walk across the street. This is the time in my review where I should mention that this park is built for children from the ages of 2-12 IMO. If you have a baby and no other kids, you might enjoy a stroll at more peaceful park like loose park or antioch park more, and if you don't have kids I bet this place would stress you out, so best to avoid or go when kids are in school. Now to the good part for parents, this park has it all: * Fully updated equipment including age appropriate fun for tons of age ranges. * Artificial hills for kids to climb up and roll down * In ground trampolines * Tons of space (this place is huge) * IT'S FULLY FENCED The last part is in caps because when you have speedy little kids, and the park is PACKED, this is a small, but important element to giving you some piece of mind. Overall, my kiddo loved it, I loved it, and I can't wait for us to return on a nice day. read more

If you're going to re-make something, then you should probably take the time to do it well, and do it right. That is even more necessary when it is a government-funded project. Spend those public funds right! Johnson County has lots of green space and lots of modernized playground equipment. There are many pockets that need attention, and Strang Park was one of those places. For the longest time, Strang Park was just a small open space with a walking path, a basketball court, and scattered play equipment. Now, it is a multi-sensory, multifunction, full family-use facility. playground equipment that is safe and fun, with amenities such as inground trampolines included in the build, providing fun for children of all ages. For those that want to have the opportunity to relax while you watch the littles, check out the lineup of Adirondack chairs just under a large shady tree, waiting for you to get those photo ops as the moments of your kids' lives occur. The design of the park incorporates the legacy of the Strang Line rail route, with pieces of rail built into the shelter and portions of the original line still bordering the north end of the park. The shelter is large and modern, and the tennis/pickleball courts offer just the right amount of opportunity for outdoor enjoyment. There is still a path that encircles the park, and the full loop measures just around a half-mile. Like I said, Johnson County had the opportunity to do it right and they got it done! This is now one of the nicer parks in the Lenexa area, if not the entirety of Johnson County. Well done JoCo, well done. read more

Great new all inclusive playground tucked away in a neighborhood area. Liked that there was a large parking lot, bathrooms and a fence around the playground area for safety. On a weekend day it was very busy, but overall enough equipment for all the kids to play on. My kiddos loved the in-ground trampolines, slides, swings and rope climb through the best. It's nice that there's plenty of seating for adults who are watching little ones and tables if you bring a snack. read more

This might be our new favorite park! Located right next to the Johnson County Library, this park was a toddler's dream come true with all sorts of colorful and spinny play structures. The best part? The entire play area was completely fenced in! Seating was plentiful, the other kids were friendly, and the playground was large and clean. Can't wait to come back and play more! read more

This is likely my favorite park to take my kids to. It's fenced in with a heavy gate making it difficult for little ones to slip away in case you have a little flight risk on your hands. The jungle gym is large, but there is also a small playhouse area for younger children. There are small single person trampolines at the top of the hill that are ground level and a ground level merry go round with a spot that is wheel chair accessible. A seesaw is also available that has a place for a wheelchair to fit. If you go on a particularly hot day, there is even a mister to cool down a bit. Bring the family for a nice day at the park. read more

Great for all ages. Kids love the mini trampolines. Nice picnic area too and misters if it's really hot!

This park is relatively quiet, with plenty of bird calls, and plenty of shade. There are four historical markers, and a section of a railroad which was significant to development of this area. There is also a 0.52 mile trail around the park, a drinking fountain, and a nicely-sized parking area. read more

This is my "neighborhood park" and I've taken many a walk around the trail. It's got tennis courts, basketball courts, a great kid's playground, bbq grills, and is right behind the Central Library. Great way to put together a low-cost day if you've got kids. Library + park + some take out from ABC Cafe :-) read more

Small neighborhood park that needs to be maintained. The lower fields are ankle breakers and need to be smoothed out. They also need to patrol the place from time to time. I've seen a homeless guy wash is "under carriage" in the drinking fountain. I've also seen a guy with great dane's let his dogs drink from the top fountain. read more
