Antioch park is great they've really done a lot with the space they have. This is one of my favorite parks to go for walks and look at the pond critters. They also have a huge playground & this mini old west style town for kids to play in. Antioch Park is a large park that has a short wooded trail, but also a good amount of paved trails that wind through the park and around a nice pond. It has lots of picnic areas and green space to relax and enjoy meals. it has a whole entire kids town for the children to enjoy. It has a variety of play equipment in various areas. it also has a basketball basketball court in tennis court I believe. it is maintained well and I really like that all of the play areas have some shaded spots for parents to sit. read more

There is seriously so much to love about Antioch Park! First of all, it's massive. So, if you're looking for a place to go on a long walk with your dog, or immerse yourself in nature, you've found an excellent option. Secondly, the playgrounds are top notch. I mention this because as a parent of a young child I'm often on the hunt for great places to take her to get the "wiggles" out. There are about three different playground options, all in the same area so kids can move around freely and explore. One is geared more towards smaller kids which is great, there's also one for bigger kids, and there's even an old west themed play area where kids can pretend to be cowboys. I love that they have this area for imaginative play and it's such a unique find that really sets this park apart from others in the area. The public restrooms could be a bit cleaner, but it is a public park, and in general I'm just happy when a park has an OK restroom to use. Just make sure you set your expectations right before you venture into them and you'll be just fine. Overall I feel like there is still a lot more to this park I have to explore, and we'll for sure be back! read more

Found this park on Yelp, wanted to enjoyed a nice day out during the weekend and social distance due to the Covid-19. This place has a rose garden with a nice fountain to relax and enjoy. Love the small collections of roses here. The trail is easy to walk and handicap accessible too. There's north pond and a south pond. I went to both. The north pond is more quiet and peaceful. The south pond is more fun with the trails, fishes, and great scenery. Restrooms is near the offices and is clean. Good place to explore and enjoy your day out with your family. read more

All around this area are main roads where traffic flies by to get from point A to B. However a quick turn off of Antioch will show this big park to be a nice, quiet, wooded refuge with trails, small lakes, and tons more. I remember this park from being a little kid. The stepping stones had chasms of space between them back then, and I felt like I was on vacation here despite being down the road from home. It has been many years but I finally popped back over here one beautiful Saturday and saw the appeal of the park as an adult. This spacious park spreads far and wide and would make a great gathering place for a BBQ, family reunion, or just on your own to steal away for a bit. There's some kind of kids zone too by the playground, but I didn't really go there. Other reviews could shed more light but looks like fun if you have little ones. I brought my pup and while not an off-leash zone, it made for a nice afternoon stroll. Check this place out! read more

November 2018 I was in town on business and had the morning to check out the area. I wanted to walk around a park and take in the cold air before a snow storm rolled in. Thanks Yelp for finding this park for me! The park was quiet (it was a Thursday morning, and it was cold!), and I walked around the huge lake while taking in the gorgeous fall foliage. Looking for an afternoon walk with our dog and to geocache we decided to check out the Antioch park We were delightfully surprised. It was much prettier and longer trails than we expected. Johnson County put some serious effort into this park. The ponds are clean and so pretty with great places to sit and hang. There was a small wedding going on at Northwest end of the park, children playing at an insanely large kids area at the Northeast side, a military memorial at the north central side, and a beautiful pond at the south side. A lot of gazebos for meeting up and a large pavilion for major events. Highly recommend for gatherings, kids, walks, and anything else you can do in a park! read more

Antioch Park is always a treat to visit. There are several paved walking trails as well as some trails through the wooded areas. My dog (on leash) and I both enjoyed taking in all of the nature and scenery that the park offers. The buildings in the park appear to be revamped homes that were donated by the family who donated the land. They now contain county or city offices. I'll be back to visit, again, sometime when Covid isn't a concern as the history of the buildings is definitely a huge draw for me. They have a couple of really cute play areas for children and basketball courts as well! read more

Mostly I go to this park for convenience - it's right by my house, but I was reminded this week how nice of a spot it can be when it's not an overcrowded weekend. My friend and I came to walk around the park on a sunny Friday afternoon and there were only a few other souls around. Although the walking trails aren't extremely long, there are patches of "forest" and beautiful trees that hide behind the lake. There are numerous benches to stop and enjoy the view, as well as some beautiful rose bushes. When I've come on Saturday mornings it's pretty packed with kids and families. It is definitely a family-friendly park with lots of playgrounds for kids. My cousin's kids love to play in all the kid-friendly areas and it wears them out pretty well (score!). It's a rather small park compared to SM park or Loose park, but a lovely nature getaway during the week or a fun place to bring the kids for a picnic. read more

I love this park. It's near the intersection of SM Parkway and Antioch. It features a really large pond with a friendly duck population, a great series of trails if you need to get your exercise on, and plenty of quiet benches to hang out. It even looks like there might be a horse trail but I didn't see any horses that day. Plenty of families taking photographs - especially during the Fall and Spring. read more

Antioch is a pretty decent park and one that will offer much more of an experience than most around the area. What really did it for me is the trees and the feeling of nature. Whereas most parks around the west side of KC have little trees and just well maintained stretches of grass (golf-course style), I enjoyed seeing signs of life, water, and even the annoying geese waiting for a handout. I almost thought they were going to attack me. The walking trail and other amenities (pond, shelters, etc.) all seemed to fit nicely into the landscape and made for a relaxing time. To me, it rivals Shawnee Mission Park but smaller and a bit more man-crafted. Beyond the squirrel throwing walnuts down on me and the geese attack, I enjoyed seeing a spot where people were out and about-taking it all in. Many of the those I encountered seemed rather at peace and enjoyed this place for its "park" feel and not some space just to gather. read more

This has always been one of my favorite city parks. It's huge and there's lots to do. It's a great park to visit if you're into Geocaching or Pokémon Go. There are 3 different playgrounds here, so it's a great stop with the kids. Between walking the trails, checking out the wildlife (ducks, geese, and turtles), and running around the playgrounds they are sure to be exhausted! read more

Love this park. My daughter and I ate breakfast in the park at least once a week all last summer. The park is clean with lots of trash cans. There is never too much foot or bike traffic. My bests friend and I are still haunted by frogs that we failed to catch. As a middle schooler, this is my favorite park. It was in the 40s when I was here at Antioch Park in late October. I was dressed in a simple t-shirt and shorts. Yes, it was cold, but I was acclaiming. I felt alive especially when that windchill hits. :) Acclaiming sounds like being crazy ass in cold temperatures with nothing but a t-shirt and shorts with running shoes. I looked at Google maps and found this cute little park in Overland Park about 2 miles from my hotel and proceeded to get here around 8:30am. It was nice to be here on a Tuesday morning especially when nobody is around and it was a weekday. Ah, the awesome feeling of being on vacation. Antioch park is the place where I ended up running about 2 miles as apart of my recovery process from a half marathon and 50km Ultra marathon combination a week before in Kansas City and Omaha. Needed to get my legs moving and the blood flowing again while taking in the sights and sounds of a city park in Overland Park, KS. The park itself is large enough to accommodate a lot of people, but at the same time, small enough to be petite and a cute community oasis for anyone and everyone - including tourists like me, to enjoy the green space that Overland Park has a bunch of to offer. It was just a nice cold morning to be out and about here in Antioch park in the middle of the morning commute. I spent about a couple hours here, trying to get my legs working and it was good. My favorite part of Antioch park was the lake itself and the fountains that made the park definitely beautiful. I think the fountains made the park better and enhanced the lake's physical appeal. Antioch park is probably maintained by the fine folks of the county that the park sits on. It is well maintained and it was very nice to see a lot of greenery here, especially before winter started to make its way here to Kansas City / Overland Park. Antioch Park is located at 6501 Antioch Road in the Merriam district of Overland Park KS. Since this is a community park and is probably used by many people on a daily basis, there is no admission fee whatsoever. Pretty sure that this park is maintained by the county, so you can be assured that this green space is free for one and all. Parking here has plenty of options, since there is limited space for parking, your best bet is to get here early and find the best spot possible. For the most part though, being here on a weekday morning is probably the best time to go, just because it's on the weekday and many people work. So, you can just enjoy the park to yourself. The overall experience here at Antioch Park here in Overland Park, Kansas was a nice, cold, blissful environment that was good and incredibly inviting. I knew that I needed to run a few miles that morning at Antioch Park, so out in the cold weather I went to get acclimated. I did love to run over the coveted bridges when I was over the lake. It was cool to see some people walking around while I was there- especially when the windchill was a little evil and got a bit gnarly in the process. Still, loved to be out there for myself and my health. There was also a small secluded pond near the Antioch road entrance. At the time I was there, it looked like it had 99% of the surface covered in moss or algae. Quite cool looking actually. And so, if you find yourself in Overland Park, KS with nothing to do or want to clear your mind from the daily drama called life, I would like to recommend this place to you, especially because it's perfect for just about anything you want to do in a city park. I believe there are restroom facilities here on property, but can't be too sure on that. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. It was a nice morning for a run here at Antioch park. This is a good park! I've been coming here since I was a young kid. There's a basketball court, playground for the kiddos, a small lake/pond, a trail, some spots to picnic, and more. Only "complaint" I have is the lake/pond is small, there is no place to swim, and no wooded area with trails. Other than that it's a great park! read more

What's not to love? This park is huge, clean, crowded, and SAFE! The walking trail takes you around two separate ponds loaded with geese, ducks, and decoys, through a great playground area, past a nice recreation clubhouse, and into an arboretum/rose garden. The ponds and the rose garden have fountains. Near the clubhouse there is also a Vietnam Memorial area flying the US flag. The neighborhood along the back side of the park is nice and quiet. The back of the park also butts up to the back of the Milburn Country Club Golf Course. My favorite part about the back of the park is that it is quiet and you can really enjoy listening to the birds sing. Tons of birdhouses and feeders have been set up throughout the park to attract a nice variety of birds. We love taking our dog here, because the trail is long and winding, and it wears our dog out. He's a wirey little guy and needs a good hustle around the park trail now and again to sedate him. My only gripe is that in this big park there are just 2 doggie poop bag stations, and the garbage can placements aren't very convenient if you're walking the trail. This park has an abundance of picnic shelters and unsheltered tables. If you come here and can't find a place to set up shop for a cook out or outdoor party then you're not looking hard enough. On the south side of the park you will find tennis, basketball, and bocce courts. The tennis court area also has a practice wall for self-volleying. This park is great stuff! We'll still pop into some of the smaller neighborhood parks in north JoCo here and there, but I shall soon be the Duke of Antioch Park. read more

This is such an amazing park. I loved it as a child and now I take my niece and nephew and they ALWAYS beg to go! Even if it is 10 degrees out! There are 2 lakes, one teeny, one decent. The teeny one is off to the side and more quiet and private. It is quite romantic to take a blanket and lay and read. The larger one is the center of the park and always people and geese around. You can fish catch and release. There are tennis courts, regular park equipment (different safety levels - big kids and little kids). There are also these very unique miniature buildings set up as a small town...the kids LOVE them! They are like "their size" buildings. Super fun. Lots of swings, have never had to wait for one. Very family friendly. Also very dog friendly, I have never had a problem anytime I have taken mine there. Although, bring your own bag to pick up poo because they don't have any around...and of course, they must stay on a lease there. I cannot say enough great things about this park. It is absolutely fabulous!!! read more

If you are looking for a place to jog or take your dogs this is not the best place. If you are looking for a nearby park to take kids, it's an excellent park. I've been going to Antioch Park since I was a small kid, and now I take my 9-year-old daughter. They have always had a great small, western town full of about 8-12 buildings that the kids can run through and play in. This is something you're not going to find at other parks and kids love playing hide-n-go seek and other games in this area. They also have 2 full playgrounds including a large, fake boulder that kids can climb on. All the items are close together and right next to the administrative buildings so bathrooms are within a short distance. The small lake out here is OK, but I have always found it a little gross. There is a lot of algae and whatever else is growing in there constantly right up on the shore. There is also a good amount of garbage floating in there. It's OK to walk around and kids love the geese and ducks that are always here, but this is far from the reason I come here. I used to fish in it as a kid and catch catfish and I'm pretty sure you still can. It's catch-and-release, not that anyone should want to eat the fish that come from here. The park also has a small trail or two. Nothing big, not strenuous, but again good for kids. You're not going to get lost and you're not going to spend half an hour completing the trail. Picnic tables and grills are spread throughout the park as well. Antioch is what it is, a great neighborhood park with everything you need to entertain kids. If you're a parent in the area, you can't go wrong. read more

Visited this park for the first time on a whim this weekend, and really really loved it. My 4 year old thought it was amazing that the pond had it's very own island, and you have to walk on special stones to get out to it. He loved walking over the bridges, and in and out of the dirt paths through the trees. Very, very family friendly, and a park worth driving out of your way for. Always remember to bring a little stale bread through. We were throughoughly repremanded by our son for not bringing bread to feed the geese, but hey, we weren't planning on the trip. This park has a lot to offer to people of all ages! It has water for paddleboats (weekend rental only I believe) and catch/release fishing! It has a lot of open space and many shelters/picnic tables available! It also has a rose garden that is beautiful in full bloom! The playground is spread out which is nice to alleviate the potential congestion of kids and families! They also have a make-believe village that is so much fun for the kids to run around in and utilize imaginative play! We have had birthday picnics here and other celebrations because it is so much fun for a range of ages and abilities. Now, because of the spread, it can be difficult to round up your group...LOL...but that is handled by reminding other parents to stay w their children! When we have partied there, it has been family functions so that kids are escorted by their parents thus allowing everyone to have a great time! The bathrooms aren't as conveniently located throughout the park as I think they should be, but they are close to the playground, so that is the main thing for us! lol I can't wait to take pictures out at the rose garden and gazebo! What beautiful backdrops! The only other downside I see to the park, and this is no fault of the park design or the parks and rec oversight...is that many people seem to think that graffiti in the make believe village is ok. There has been a lot of work in there to make it nice, and it is sad to see some so willing to deface and vandalize it like that. Not sure how to control that, but I have seen things written that are not suitable for young kids. But the plus side is that usually the kids are so busy in their own play that they rarely bother to read it or pay much attention to it! We LOVE this park! read more

I filled out all the paperwork for a camper scholarship, and was told we qualified and would receive reimbursement. 7 months later I call after not receiving any reimbursement, and I'm told my paperwork was never processed because the employee in charge quit and now all funds are gone. I'll never use your services again. $1100 is a lot of money to promise a single mom and then just not follow through or take responsibility. read more
