The pricing was good, I got my car looked at somewhere else first and it was half the price at Strandes! I talked to them on Thursday of last week and they told me to bring the car in and the parking side and start on it Friday morning. I got there Thursday before they close and then they told me they wouldn't be able to get to it till Monday, so best to bring it back on Monday so I said OK cause they told me their electrician comes in on Monday. So I said OK I got there Monday morning 8:07 AM. Turn the vehicle off when I talk to them. Talk to the mechanic who said he was gonna work on it mechanic told me that he wouldn't be able to get to it till the afternoon I said OK no problem so I left at 4:30. I'm on my way to Home Depot. I just decided to drive by the shop to see if they're working on it or anything I see that the car is still sitting in the same spot as when I dropped it off. I looked on the tracking device on the vehicle. It shows that it has never touched since 8:07 AM so I called the shop and I asked them. Has anybody been doing anything that I find out the problem with my vehicle the item oh yeah, he's been working on it and he had to go work on another vehicle. He's gonna get back to it in a little bit and then get it resolved so I got a phone with him and I just pulled up to the shop and I told him I'm not happy to be lied to when nobody's touched the vehicle and I still sat in the same spot. I'm sorry and I didn't know what to say And the mechanic came. I said all I said I was gonna do the afternoon but it's 430 they close at six. He's only gonna have an an hour to diagnose an electrical issue with the vehicle. He needs one that and so I told him I'll just take the vehicle home. The mechanic got upset just walked out of the office taking my keys and then I took my vehicle home. I do not recommend this place not after they lie to me And then I waited so I lost all those days I taken it to another shop. I could've took it to the dealership, but I was trying to help out a small business so I lost that Thursday through Friday. The dealership is open on Saturday so Saturday and then sunny closed and then Monday And then now Tuesday looking for a shop to work on the vehicle so I lost all those days due to them to get a diagnosis done to find the problem waste my time that I'm paying for Uber to take me back there to pick it up so it's cost me money out of my pocket in time. I'm not happy with this place at all I don't recommend them to anybody. read more

As a black man i try to do the right thing but this place is no reliable nor do they operate in good faith. My vehicle has been in this repair place since feb 2024. I was quoted $730 for the repairs and they dont accept payment arrangements. I have emailed them letting them know that i am not abandoning my vehicle but on june they started driving my vehicle off of the premise where I dropped it off at. I was charged NTTA toll fee (which last week I told them you don't have to reimburse me for that). Now jan 29th 2025 one of the owners by the name of Caleb finally emailed me this is what he said ((' Hello Mr. Hogg, This is Caleb from Strande's Garage. I am contacting you in regards to your blue 2018 Kia Sorento (Vin:Was here). I wanted to verify that in February 2024, you dropped your car off, approved the repairs we recommended, we completed the repairs for your vehicle, then you never paid for the approved repairs and/or picked up the vehicle. Are you abandoning the vehicle? If this is not the case, we will have to, unfortunately, begin legal action to recoup our costs for the completed repairs and the accrued storage fees. Please let me know and we can go from there! Thank you so much!)) No again if they accepted payment arrangements that vehicle would have been out of that place within 3 months [accounting for paying off storage fees] so i go in to look at the mileage and caleb told me that the vehicle not there but it was i seen it behind the building when i walked by do could have been a man about going through with the mechanic lien but acting like i had a chance of getting it when he already went through the process of the lien...i know that guy has to get his money but come on now honoring the payment arrangement that your employee agreed to would have been the right thing to do. I am in the process of going through the legal way but please watch out for this guy and this place along with the black dread head guy in the front he chimed in to my conversation with the owner as if he knew what was said before he started working there. read more

It has taken me a while since my experience with them to write this. I will start out by saying, I will not return. I was quoted a price for an engine replacement labor only, I found an engine for them to install, was told 14 days after they got the engine, turned out to be 9 weeks, and was far more problems than expected. One, they removed the radiator to pull the engine, but not the condenser coils, they smashed them, but told me they were already damaged, which I knew was a blatant lie, but I paid for the new coil anyway. They broke the dipstick, which is fairly understandable on a 2004 engine, but didn't bother to tell me about it until I went up there to find out if I would ever see my truck again. I found them a couple of new ones and brought up there, but neither of them, they said would work. They also damaged my transmission wiring, and I had to pay for new parts for that too. I got a different story from the lady who answered the phones, than from Andrew about various things, so I knew at that point, I was screwed. Accidents in the shop are common, but to lie about them and charge the customer is certainly not a good approach. Finally, the day I went to pick it up, I was told that the wheel bearing was really bad. Now, had they called and told me this, I could have had them fix that while they had it in the shop, but not a word until after I paid and was about to leave. Yes, the bearing was quite bad, and in fact, should not have been driven at all, but I guess once you have pocketed the cash from someone you just royally screwed over, you do all you can to get them out of the way. Price agreed on was $1,308 plus oil and such as needed for the engine replacement, total bill was over $2,500, and not once, did they tell me how much it was going to be over the original price until I went to pay. Highly sick at the lack of pride this place has, and no desire to earn a good review, but I guess I have truly learned my lesson about them as a business in my community. They try to talk a good game, but as someone who knows about rebuilding engines, but currently unable to due to age and a surgery, I am completely disgusted in the lack of professionalism, communication or customer service in Strandes. Added after a year: About 6 months out, started getting a misfire on cylinder 4 (pretty common in my truck) but drove it still. I replaced the coil pack, no improvements, replaced the fuel injectors, no improvements, so took to a better rated shop only to find out, the plugs and wires were old. I paid strandes for the new parts, but they used my old ones. No telling what else they cheated me on. I only have 1,300 miles on this new engine, and have hardly been able to use it due to their lack of professionalism and integrity. Maybe for some jobs that can be done same day, they may do OK, but for anything past ture repair (which I would not trust them with that either) this place is terrible read more

Strande's has been in Denton as long as I have been here, a long time. Their professionalism is beyond others. I had some problems that were fixed as I waited without charge. My repairs have always been without issues and I even got a ride home and an offer to pick me up once the repairs were completed. Keep up the good work. Do not ever change. I have gone to these guys for years and by years, I mean back since 1996. They are amazing. They have always been top notch, honest, reliable and affordable. If I ever had any issues with the work they did, they would explain or fix the issue. They listened and they can justify standing by their work. Someone must be telling people to post a bunch of good reviews to bury the bad reviews. I did not experience anything like what has been recently posted. My car was in the shop for two weeks and I was told repeatedly that it was on the lift waiting for a test drive. Went in for a warranty TCM replacement and Andrew started throwing parts at me immediately. Andrew came up with several reasons for why it was taking so long even though he had told me it was just waiting for a test drive. Andrew left a message saying there had been two test drives and it was ready. It wasn't ready the brakes that they had flushed were hitting the floor. Had to take it back and was charged an addition $330 dollars and it still wasn't fixed. Caleb did offer to fix at no additional charge and refunded the $330 but at this point letting an unsafe car, that my son was driving leave his place twice, I felt that they were just throwing parts at a problem that they could not fix. Andrew told me twice that he would send me all of the diagnostics and photos they had done, which I never received. I decided to go to a more reputable place with an ASE certified mechanic. read more

Saturday evening- 2008 Chevy 2500 diesel - knew they were already closed but looked inside bay door praying someone might be there and saw mechanic working knocked on bay door and opened - great mechanic very nice and new exactly what they could do to fix small oil valve leak he noted how would get it repaired and dropped off as he came out looked at issue on diesel truck - I'm in customer service driven business and we as Americans must support small businesses such as this! Called to schedule a drop off for my automobile for a diagnostic test. I was told if I make it in by 10:00AM, it should be done by the afternoon. Arrived at 10:00AM, completed info sheet and told Mary(Office Mgr) that I would hang out in downtown Denton. since their customer waiting area is under construction and has no air condition. Mary says she will call when it is ready. As of 3:00PM, I had not received a call from Mary, and began to walk back to the garage. When I arrived, Mary was not there. The mechanic says my car is ready. I asked, why didn't I get a call. He said, "Mary emailed you." I asked, "Is that how you contact customers"? No response. I paid the diagnostic fee and left. Based on the information given to me regarding the diagnostic and the UNPROFESSIONALISM of this business, I would NEVER allow them to touch my care again, under any circumstances. read more

Took my classic Firebird in for A/C repair only. After the car was dropped off the mgr called to tell me "My glass man can fix the water leaks for you". I authorized the repair for that. When I went to pick up the car the tech who had repaired the A/C informed me that he loved my car and used to work on them. He told me he tuned my carburetor for me and reset my sparkplug gaps. Car has never run right since. I didn't want the carb tuned and spark plugs set. In addtion the glass man had pulled all the trims off breaking half the mounting clips then piled the trims in the passenger seat and told the mgr he couldn't handle the job. Took my sons car here to have a transmission swapped out, no biggie. Once they swapped it out they said the transmission was bad and only option was to pay them to swap it again. When we brought the car in no lights where on only slippage of the tranny, when they where finished the car had lights on. Instead of them trouble shooting and figuring out the problem they washed their hands saying need to be changed again. I paid to have it towed elsewhere and it took them 10 minutes to find the problem. We contacted these guys and they say oh well. Stay far away as when they forget to hook something up they will not even double check their work read more

The other place was going to charge me $1200 dollars for the same repairs. Strande's Garage only charged me $606 (discount included). Now, I have been driving my truck for a month before I posted this review, because I wanted to make sure that I did not experience any catalytic converter issues again. Man, I founded my mechanic and will take my truck back to Strande's Garage to get fuel filter and fuel pump replaced. People, trust me, I am moving to Hurst TX soon, but will take my truck one hour to Denton for all repairs. This is the type of trust you seek in your mechanic well look no further. Strande's took me as a last minute walk in on a Friday to get desperately needed rear pads and rotors on my car as it was making a terrible grinding noise! The mechanics were friendly and even brought me back to show me my rear brakes and answer questions. Their prices were very good and they guarantee their work. It was a great experience and based on a referral from other friends because I'm not from this area. Turns out it was a loose bracket from when Toyota of Denton did an all points inspection. TJ and his team took precious time to figure out the problem with my Hybrid. Yeah a Hybrid. So u know it can get complicated. But they kept me posted throughout their progress. They went above and beyond to make sure the issue was solved by doing a rotation and alignment. I'd give this business 6 stars if I could. They are absolutely one of the best garages I've dealt with in a very long time. I was considering buying a used car, but wanted to have it inspected for any possible problems beforehand. I spoke to one of their mechanics, TJ, who was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I was able to go directly from the dealer to his garage, where the car was placed on a lift almost immediately. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I had my vehicle towed there for service, (Radiator/alternator/valve cover gasket replacement) for $1500.Initially I was told this was going to be a 3-day repair. Car was diagnosed Tuesday and supposed to be done by Friday. Friday arrives with news that they broke the thermostat housing and the radiator installed was defective. ok stuff happens.. following Monday arrives to find out that in their testing process they BROKE MY TRANSMISSION. So that needs replacement. so I receive my car finally Wed and soon find out that it will not go into revers and the check engine light was still on. so here it is almost 2 weeks later and 3 mishaps and I"M STILL WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE FINISHED ON WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A 3-DAY REPAIR! read more
