I'm surprised by the one-star review. We've been going to Gorge Capital (formerly Hardy and Holmes) for about 4 years now to get our taxes done by Jason. Everyone is very professional and they do a great job. As an established client, they send you a pre-planned tax appointment every year based on your preferred time, which you can just keep or call to change/cancel. This is very convenient, one less thing to do. They also send you a handy tax organizer packet ahead of time (pre-filled with your previous year's information) to help you get everything organized and ready. This makes your appointment go very quickly and smoothly, with no surprises. If you do forget to bring a form, they let you just drop it off when you can. If you can't make it into their office in person, they also give you the option of just dropping everything off or mailing everything to them and they take care of the rest. You do not pay until they have completed your taxes and you go to pick them up. If you owe any taxes, they'll have the forms/envelopes all ready and pre-filled for you, you just have to sign and mail. They give you everything nicely organized in a file and the best part is that if you ever get audited by the IRS, they will have your back. Jason also answered questions for us about college savings plans and the cost of college tuition for our son. If you refer a new client to them, they will also give you a token of appreciation (we got a gift card to See's Candy before) and they enter you into a drawing for a trip to Hawaii! Gorge Capital offers CPA services as well as investment counseling. Even though they come across as very professional the follow through in their accounting area is non-existent. Don't expect to get your phone calls returned or the work done promptly. read more

After years using turbo tax and H&R block my partner and I (20 years together, never married) finally had enough idiosyncrasies to our individual taxes that we had a lot of questions and needed real help. Susan Martin is our hero. She is kind, patient and informative. The reason we have not returned to H&R block is that we did not have confidence in the work. It feels like a side-gig for most of the CPAs we have worked with. No one ever wanted to deal with itemizations or explaining anything. Susan speaks with you like you are a person and never speaks down to you. For the SAME COST of going to H&R Block you can get real one-on-one time with someone who answers your questions and gives you the confidence that your taxes are in the right hands. I paid $360 at H&R Block and never felt confident. I think this is our 4th year with Susan. We plan on moving to Central Oregon soon and plan to still make the drive back to Strada to have Susan Martin do our taxes. read more
